I don't quite understand the damage formula for elemental %'s and have a few questions.

Say I'm using a 50% weapon doing 1000 dmg per hit (on avg).

How much of a reduction would I get dmg wise for using a 25% weapon vs the 50%?

Thank you for any replies.

I'm not certain myself... I think it's your combined ATP with the element modifier against it. So if you are doing 1000 dmg to an ice enemy with a 50% fire weapon, and you switch to a neutral, you'll do 666 dmg, and if you switch to a 25% fire, you'll do around 832?

In other words, if your damage with a neutral of the equiv weapon was 666, a 25% would be 830 or so and a 50% would be around 1000. At least, thats how I THOUGHT it works.

That was recently changed to only modifying your weapon's ATP. In other words, a 50% axe with 1000 atp will now have 1500 if used against an enemy of the opposite element. At least, I think that's what happened. At any rate, it doesn't modify your base ATP anymore, since it was way too effective when doing that (twin daggers hitting like axes, etc).

Well if a 50% weapon does 1000 damage the damage without an element would be around 666. Add 25% to 666 and you get ~832.

It's not 100% exact but, close enough.

Element attribute percentages still modifying your total ATP (Att.), not only your weapon's ATP. Rather the effect of the percentages were reduced to 75% of what is shown.

The elemental attribute percentages of creatures is 5%.
Element percentages change the incoming attack, not the target's defenses.
Every 5 points of ATP adds 1 point of HP damage, but will be modified by element percentages.
Every 5 points of DFP prevents 1 point of HP damage, at the end.

The basic damage formula looks like this: (wrong elements are negative element%)

(((Attacker's element% + Target's element%) + 100%) x 75%) = Total Element%

((Total Element %) x (Attacker's Total Att. / 5)) - (Target's Total Def. / 5) = Damage as HP.

This means a 50% weapon of the right element does about 35.25% more damage then a neutral version against the same target before applying Def.'s damage reduction.

Example:

LV 130 Go Vahra has about 446 total def. (89 point prevention). Let's say someone has 4026 total Att. (805 base damage).

neutral weapon: 716 damage (100.% Base -89)
25% ground: 986 damage (122.5% Base -89)
50% ground: 1000 damage (135.25% Base -89)
