I got a Question about Ex Traps and ProTransers

Well,I was wondering y my Ex-Traps wouldn't last long,but today i just learned that you have to Hold Y too make it last.

But,I was also wondering,if the higher the Job Level,the more you can make it last.

You aren't allowed to switch to a weapon. If you switch to a weapon, the EX trap disappears.

Yes, no need to keep the button pressed, just wait until the ongoing effect stops, then you can either lay down some more (you may do this simultaneously) or switch to a weapon. Using mates does not stop it.

Switching to a weapon will also make a set undetonated trap of any kind disappear.

The ex traps in general last only about 5 seconds but hit around 10 times
