USB over current device detected, shut down in 15 seconds! <-- ASUS mother board.

WHAT THE HELL!. I mean, it happens basically whenever I plug my Logitech DuelAction USB controller into any of my 3 remaining USB slots. It's been working perfect, now I can't even enter BIOS! What the hell.. It just shuts down. I don't get it gah. I figured I'd bitch here.

Get a powered USB hub. The board can only supply so much power to USB devices. If you've added more devices, specifically devices that require a lot of power (like wireless mice/keyboards, wireless game controllers, USB WiFi devices in some cases, and especially USB powered external hard drives) it can run out of power essentially. I know my wireless Xbox 360 controller will do that only it's a bit more extreme. In my case it knocks out my mouse and keyboard if I try plugging it into an onboard port. A powered hub fixed it.

If there's a countdown to shutdown, quickly go to your clock and reset it a few years back, lol

Similar issues happened to my old ASUS motherboard before it ended up giving out completely. Stuff like that happened, then it kept having trouble reading my IDE devices, then it simply quit. There are workarounds for you right now, but keep an eye on the board itself. May not have too much life left.

This is not to say that ASUS isn't a good brand, I still think they're the best. But everything gets worn out with time.

Could also be the CMOS battery. It's usually easy to replace, just make sure no electricity is on at all.

Odd, it was a controller issue, but only on my computer. Guess I'll be using a PS3 controller for now http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
