what is this? another sword wielding mercenary?????

I greatly admired and respected Valkyrie Profile when
it centered on a valkyrie, not some puny mortal.

The first game was revolutionary in many ways,
allowing free flight after the first dungeon. It
blew away all of the airships and means of travel
in other games. And other things too, but ya,
that was the golden age of the series.

Then the sequel came out, and instead of being
about Silmeria, they took a twist and made it center
on a princess. Well okay, at least Silmeria was
partially involved and it got better later on.
And while the adventure was totally "grounded",
I treated the sequel as an
exception since the story couldn't be expressed
any other way in how circumstances forged this
"unique" situation.

but now this third game, which is being released on
a portable system, it's obviously a half-baked
budget title bent on selling with the name brand
as its crutches and the most recycled hero concept
in the history of the entire genre!!!!!!!!!

well if they are trying to make a fund raiser to
make a Valkyrie Profile 3: Hrist, at least make
their portable VP have a worthy protagonist,
(like someone divine, hint hint.), why they could
have made it take plae before VP2 when Silmeria is happily slaying demons without Odin suddenly
interested in swiping the Dragon Orb from Midgard's
surface. And they could probably have the queen
of the underworld bring up a suitable problem of
the year.

oh well, I'm skipping that upcoming VP spinoff, or
fund raising tool, I should say. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Because they can't possibly just can't take a different approach to their story http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif

*sigh* If this is from the same directors and writers of the first game, I dunno what
they're thinking. >_> I mean the whole valkyrie concept was doing fine? why take such
a huge step backwards? well I probably answered that with the fund raising theory. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Then again, people like Mikami made brilliant games like Resident Evil, but horrible
games/concepts like PN03.

enjoy the first one and refuse to buy the sequels?

that's a pretty common theme with any sequel. there's only so much you can ring out an idea before it gets old. think of how many identical pokemon games there are, mario knock offs, halo 2. wait until it comes out, read reviews, watch cut scenes, and if it doesn't look worth your time, then don't buy it.

but um VP brought a new refreshing theme, they could of built lots of stories out of them
without having to relinquish the main role to some citizen of Midgard. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
Ya Ragnarok began and ended in the first one, and the 2nd one explains the past, and
Lezard's final ambition, but the 3 Valkyries have been around for a really long long time!
There could be plenty of threats and struggles long ago that they had to deal with and
stuff. I mean this portable game could have been a more proper telling of Silmeria's
adventures and accomplisments in the past. They are most likely saving Hrist's big role
for a console release,

but this upcoming title really proves that they have a valuable franchise in
their hands and they don't know what to do with it, and that leads to
bad decisions that end up with a theme that has been done too often, at least in
comparison, the Asgard valkyrie theme is very fresh and done only once properly. -_-;;;

Actually, the second game is both a sequel and prequel at the same time.

The Lezard Valeth that's in the second game is actually the Lezard Valeth from the first game. I mean, they're one and the same person, he simply travelled back in time.

The Lenneth that joins you in Chapter 6 of the second game is the Lenneth you control from the first game, one and the same.

Due to both Lezard and Lenneth's involvement, the time line was altered, and things that happened in the first game (like Silmeria being Braham's captive) did not happen.

It's basically a rewrite of the story, you can consider the whole thing with Ragnarok happening as if it never happened...

Capcom made PN03.

That was a fun game, by the way. Leave it alone. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Horrible control. :/

Control is forgotten with animations like this, though:

Its just a sidestory, not apart of the main story arc.
Not a big deal, either buy the game and enjoy it , or don't.

Also, you shouldn't be so quick to write the game off, especially when next to nothing is known about it. How about you wait till some more info leaks and then start to judge it?

I now a guy who loves that game, just for that animation. As a result, he's played it so long and so much (and still does) that the horrible controls are natural for him, so that when he's playing, it actually looks like it could be fun.

anyways, yeah, port to a portable, 95% of the time, it seems like those are gonna suck compared to their originators on a console. There are exceptions of course, I've heard Crisis Core is great, I've watched a friend play and it looks nice, and if I picked it up I'd probably find it fun as hell, but no PSP on my end. Monster Hunter was a great port (once again though, no PSP baaaaaw.) But for the most part, it seems to me a franchise being ported to a handheld is going to suck.
