so this is what they meant about taking MK in a
new direction.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj8GC6W0_uY

but I dunno after armageddon I kinda had it with
MK games and kind of sick of 3-D fighting games
(except Tobal 2).

but this sure looks entertaining to watch its
matches on youtube. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Superman vs. Raiden? Wonder Woman vs. Sonya?

no one saw this koming!!! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Mortal Kombat is one of the worse fighting series available, even worse than Tekken. (IMO)

and for the record, the 3-D MKs are better than Tekken. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif well anything's better than
Tekken games, well except that saturn final fight game. welll okay okay Im not a fan of fireballs
myself unless they are balanced like in Tobal 2.

Retarded premise if you ask me; I don't want my MK in my DC, nor my DC in my MK.

Lollerskates lets put sum Gears of War with our G.I. Joes!

Wow. That's interesting, to say the least. I hope they pull out some obscure characters for the DC side, or maybe throw in some of the Watchmen.

you know, Gears of War vs. G.I. Joe would sell millions! and even funnier if it's a 2-D
fighting game. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

The day that happens I swear I'll shoot the developer of that game for making an atrocity.

And I never thought I'd say this, but Tekken is better than MK. I never thought I'd see something worse than Tekken myself, but MK should have died after 3. Even if it is opinion, that's still saying a lot about it :/

Saner
Apr 18, 2008, 02:57 PM
well ya, personally I felt MK got good with DA, D and A, but ya after that is kind of overdoing
it but even this upcoming game, a lot of people will enjoy, so they'll keep making MKs as long
as it sells.

I didnt like the 2-D MKs that much although the first one was revolutionary in the flavor it
introduced and MK2 mastered it. then it got fairly meh afterwards. but at least with the
ones after 4, the fighters became more unique and the style switching was great.

This is the dumbest idea ever.

There are no fatalities, which is what made Mortal Kombat what it was. And does everyone have Kryptonite to fight superman?

THE JACKEL

Saner
Apr 18, 2008, 03:23 PM
well if there was ever a MK vs. SF, Capcom would never allow them to add fatalities.

besides I don't agree that fatalities made MK what it is, ya it's a part of its legacy but
the characters and fighting itself is enough to keep things interesting.

but for a crossover like this, it's a good exception having no fatalities. a lot of people will
buy it anyway. MK fans, DC fans and some fighting fans.

can't we just say that both MK and Tekken suck? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

judging from the low quality texture of the falling debris, I'm guessing that might be game play footage. Still, I'd rather just have a very gritty and dark Batman game, that's actually good to play. I'd say another free roaming game, but that's gotten kind of overused (Hulk Ultimate Destruction was loads of fun though.) Batman game would probably be more linear though, I could imagine a lot of the game play where a cinema plays and you have to push certain buttons/move joystick a certain way. Though that's also been used quite a bit... Bah, just release the movie, damnit.

no

Mortal Kombat became big purely due to the graphic violence at the time of its release. Most importantly, the fatalities. That is what launched mortal kombat and set it apart. Without them, it wouldn't have been anything special

Yeah, if there was one fighting game series that needs to die, it's Mortal Kombat, but it should have died after Trilogy, not 3, even if only for Raiden and Baraka.

I've always played Mortal Kombat for its characters and story, and not for it's violence. Actually, I enjoyed Armageddon without its fatalities, and I could play the game on "no blood" and still enjoy it. The reason it flopped is not because of the lack of fatalities, but the lack of effort on characters and stages.

"A game with all of the characters? HEL YEH!"

*plays it*

"Oh, no one got new designs...? Lame."

It was half-ass'd.

That said, I think this could do well without fatalities. But who said there aren't any? I just skimmed this thread before posting this, and I didn't see anything official saying that. Either way, I think of Saturday morning cartoons when I think of Batman, so it'll be interesting to see how this will turn out. I'm definitely buying it.

considering no one has posted a link with any actual info....
here's the site:

According to Boon, there will definitely be fatality-like finishing moves, but they may not be called fatalities. After all, it's doubtful that Superman or Batman would be ripping out anyone's spines or hearts. That said, the team is hellbent on pushing the limits to what they can do with the DC characters, so you can expect to see blood and some level of damage accumulate during a fight.
oh and in case you're wondering why I said no finishing moves despite that statement

The veteran developer dropped more than a few jaws with his announcement of the eighth entry in the series, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Yep. That's right Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and the MK posse versus Superman, Batman, and familiar faces from the DC universe. And yeah, it's not going to be M-rated. How's that for some curveballs?
not M-rated means little blood. From the description in the entire article, this game will not be like Mortal Kombat of the past, just having the characters and some moves. It could be good, it could be trash. Only the future will tell.

Well, give me Kitana or Sonya (as long as they burn her manly model from MK:DA and MK:A ;|), and I'm good to go. Hmm, and it'd be really cool to see some DC villains too such as Poison Ivy (lovelovelove). http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif But yeah, too early to tell if it'll be good or not.

And yet, he's still more bad-ass than basically all of the "real" superheroes.

Also, according to Ed Boon, there were apparently talks internally of making the next Mortal Kombat game a Street Fighter Vs. Mortal Kombat - just apparently, things kept going wrong, and they were never able to get the deal into negotiations. That would've been interesting...

That just goes to show how that they are like uber pansies, superman for example : all that you have to do is grab a green gumball and call it kryptonite and you WIN !

Saner

um krytonite is extremely rare. too rare to even consider it a factor,
and won't even be available in this game.

Of course, everyone will have some Magical Phlebotomy that'll help them fight the likes of Supes, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (come to think of it, he'd be screwed against Scorpion...I think. GL followers would know why, or at least that my knowledge is outdated) Martian Manhunter, the Flash...the list goes on. Throw in Darkseid and why are the MK characters even trying anymore?

Also: Batman. Anti-Outworld-Spray. Usual moves for the Badass Normals. Instant win.
