why on some posts are the words blacked out and I havee to highlight them to read it?

It's because they don't want to ruin the surprise for people who want to find it out on their own, so they use "spoiler" boxes to hide it unless the person actually wants to see it.

Like if I was discussing a movie you hadn't seen, and I was talking about the ending, I would use those boxes so you wouldn't have the ending ruined for you unless you really wanted to check it yourself.

To be clear, it is technically not a spoiler box. This forum has 2 types of hiding spoilers:

Covered: Use [ spoiler] and [ /spoiler]
Box: [spoiler-box]Use [ spoiler-box] and [ /spoiler-box][/spoiler-box]
