Offline: IS PSO worth it?

Yes, still fun, and more challenging alone.

Yeah. The only real downsides are the lack of online-only items and the lack of a diverse community.

Is PSO worth it...I wonder the validity of this question. Oh well.

As for the quests, some can be straight up annoying, especially on Ulty. (Damn Soul of Steel, keeps kicking my ass. >_<)

Offline is well worth it.....but you will miss the online play

Depends on level realy. When your high level, go beat Falz on normal/Hard with the Frying pan. Best silly weapon ever!

Edit: for Pso Dc/Pc, the equip requirement is only 52 ATP!

I played my share of offline PSO back in the day. It's fun while it lasts but there's certainly a great gap between the original and Blue Burst when it comes in terms of content, which is one of the main reasons I'm focusing on BB right now. The new classes, new creatures, and new locations are the reason why I haven't touched PSO offline for a long time.

I'm thinking of returning to it soon, though, with the lofty goal of developing a character for every single class, plus characters based on - or at least with a visual similarity to - the most reputed NPCs (ie, Kireek, Ash, Elenor, and so on), as well as versions of Phantasy Star characters from previous games.

I remember at the time I also got by with a hack that allowed the thing to simulate online play without being online itself, which was a good way to gain more experience and find some other items - plus the challenge. But then I had to uninstall it for a while and when I tried installing it again, I either stumbled on a 1628 error during installation or it always tried to actually log on :/

It's pretty fun offline but once you get online the amount of fun EXPLOOOODES and the addiction hits you.

I think it's worth it to play offline but you'll eventually get sick of it sooner than online

There's three special offline weapons/items you can get (and a special shield if you have PSO+ for the Gamecube or access to online through private servers)

Soul Eater
Akiko's Frying Pan
or in an offline quest in ultimate, you have the choice of either God Hand, Suppressed Gun or Technical Crozier.

The 4th for PSO+ and online (if you have access to it) is the Ragol Ring which is a special shield.

i'd say it's worth it if you have some friends to play splitscreen-mode with.. otherwise it gets boring pretty soon =/

I'm just like you buddy, I play PSO offline and still love it. Although I can't play online, I still enjoy and love PSO. Once I get my computer running good, I'm going to BB.

Lower types of weapons yes... all sabers, rifles, guns, canes etc. all look the same. The difference is that the better ones have a different photon color (The photon blade for weakest sabers being green, the best handguns shooting yellow bullets). Rare weapons look completely different from regular weapons.

of coarse its worth it what if you wanted to chop down some rappys but your internet is down so you go offline or if you want to play but not with the qhole world you select offline its a good failsafe.

Unfortunately, my brother and I, along with several of our friends, have not had the privelige to play online...at all. But when we get together for split screen multiplayer, it's pretty fricking awesome. So having not played the best part of the game and still lovin' every bit of it, I think this game is way worth it.

While I don't find myself playing for HOURS on end, (like I've been known to do online) I still take out PSO now and then for some offline fun. I've been without internet at my house for about a year, but part of me always has this little pang of guilt that I haven't yet gotten a char to level 200.

i have never played online since i bought it for 'cube (original not PLUS as Sega wouldn't release it here in the UK....grrrr) 5 years ago i think. i still haven't got the rares i really want, 'cept the soul banish which looks good and i can boast about it XD. i used to play multi quite alot with my brothers but they ketp nicking rares so i only play alone when i play now. i dont play as much as i used to. i'd play far more if sega released PLUS here, then at least i could access the towers :( on the plus side i do have some online-only items from a trade-by-post which have added some longevity to the game and yes i am proud to admit i do dupe them all as i would lose them if i didn't. i spread 'em across mem cards to ensure i dont lose them lol. but yeah, apart from me being PLUS-less (curse u sega), offline is worth it.

I've only played offline never online and i think its very fun. My guy is only lvl 104 though.... hard without help lol
