View Full Version : Does anyone just... play?!

Am I the only one that just plays the game with calculating every damn thing? Am I the only one who:

-doesn't pipe for rare monsters
-doesn't calculate how many mats I take (although I don't just cram anything I see either)

I see plenty of rare monsters without using some little tip/guide reliance... so what's the big deal with taking things as they come? Things seem to show up more that way, IMO...

I "just play" the game for levels. And to kill time. But if i do see a special monster and if it doesn't drop anything special i don't get mad. And i don't do the pipe trick because thats boring. Why spend 1 hour doing that when you could have spent 1 hour leveling up.

All I do is play, because I have no keyboard to do fun stuff. nyuk mew.

Today was the first day in ever that I calculated out rough development of a mind mag. I usually just poke stuff at it until it looks good, and I play the same way. I need a way better mind mag for my force (or for that matter, any mind mag for my force... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif 50 mind blows...), so I tried making one with my poke and kill method, and wound up switching over to making a new mag with it for my hune, because I was getting a lot of pow and dex. If I wasn't sitting at work, bored out of my mind, I probably wouldn't even have calculated the stupid mind mag.

By the by, I did a rough estimate of how many times I'd have to feed it, trying to make the maximum mind stat possible, and then saying it takes 3 minutes before feeding it, it will take about 20.38 hours of constantly feeding it before it's completed. If I slaik on dex and def stats and go for the fastest completion of mag, its 17.68 hours, but then the mind isn't 183 (approx.), it's like 138.

While I share you sympathies, haterade, many people play this game for many reasons. For example, you have the legit item hunters that wish to satisfy their item chart desires http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_sleep.gif and the dupers that satisfy their needed eye candy http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif. All in all, if it wasn't for the many different views, PSO would not be nearly as popular. So, one must become somewhat tolerant and adopt a "To each his (or her http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif ) own" philosophy. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I just play to feed my mag and raise my level.
But, what's that pipe thing? One hour doing what?

I calculate my Mat usage, but that's about it. Other than that, I don't really use the TP trick, since that'd bore the tar out of me. Just playing the levels is fun enough for me, so long as I can do it with a team. How else can a FOmarl play? ^_^

Hehe... I don't have a problem with anyone's playing style... I just don't see what the big deal is with some of the extremes people go to for their characters. Excluding mag feeding (this MUST be done properly for having an effectuive character), I just let things come as they come. I've found a few items (Flowens Shield, Magic Rock moola, 5 delsaber shields, custom frame, etc) without using any tricks, piping etc... but hey, as you said... to each their own

if youre on a power trip spy, just go to F1 normal and beat everything with your fists.

anyway, ive only done the TP trick about 3 times now (stupid pinkal pal rappy! i want my agito!), and its pretty addicting.

as for the mats, i just store them in the bank. but seeing how i have 198 items in there, i think i should use just a few of them, eh?

Same here....I got a trade goin with a friend on the honor system that he gives me my items now and I'll give him an Angel Harp later. Long story short I've piped a good 4 hours at least, 4 rappies down, no harp =/.

Just playing netted me a Guilty Light, Delsabers Shield, Elysion, DB Shield, all 3 booma claws, Grass Assasin's Sabers, Hildebear's Cane, Graviton Plate, and a whole BUNCH of the common stuff (I LOATHE Stag Cutlerys now...) And I've tried the Pipe trick...and after trying to find Mill Lillies and Red Slimes for as long as I did..I gave up on it. Let the Rare monsters come to me I say!

Tried the TP trick, got sick of it, decided to just go through and find rare monsters if they feel like appearing normally. =P So far I've seen an Al Rappy, 2 Nar Lilies, and a Hildeblue, and I consider that pretty decent.

The only thing I've ever bothered seriously calculating is a mag I was raising for a friend. I might try to raise one perfect character if I get bored, but eh, not bothering with my other characters. I just use materials as I find them, which probably isn't good since I find a billion Evade Materials. XD

My friend was looking for an Angel Harp for me the other day. He finally found it after killing 6 Pal Rappys. I traded him my Demolition Comet for it(found another one the very next day). To tell the truth, it sucks. My Guilty Light does more damage than it and it hits multiple enemies. AngelHarp looks pretty cool though.

Actually....no...I don't exactly calculate my mats...mainly because I never know there was a limit. And 'cuz I'm far too lazy to actually go through and figure it out http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Although I don't use Mind Mats or Def Mats or my Luck Mats, I use the rest. My Mind mats go to my Force...and my Defence or Luck mats I usually trade.

I also don't pipe up and down for rare monsters...the first couple of times I tried it, I spent 3 hours piping to no avail. Felt like a waste of 3 hours when I could have been gaining a few more levels.

The only thing I really calculate is my mag. And then only because I need at least 130 Power (although the way I'm going on it..power will be 140) so I can equip my Tsumikiri J-Sword or Orotiagito (If I ever get one) for Screenshots. Otherwise I stick to my Demo Comet or My Yamato +60. And keep getting my self killed in Ultimate...even though I do have a BKB +80 that someone I don't know gave me because she though I was really sad. I was like level 94...she was 31 and she was doing more damage than me in Hard mode (I was bored and waiting for some of my friends to get on) with a Duped Tsumikiri J-Sword (I think that's what it was O.o). Anyway...I'm too nice a person to turn down a free item and hurt someone's feeling, so now I just carry it around, incase I get cornered by a bunch of enemies and cant get out with my Yamatos http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif And if I manage to get something better than Demo Comet, that BKB is goners.. and now I just realized I've been rambling on and on and I'm too lazy to delete it all http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I just play because all I want is to play alongside other people all over the country. Although I am thinking about the TP trick because I can't find a damn mag cell anywhere.

TP trick? Hell yeah, works great but takes a lot of patience. I've seen about 10 Pal Rappies with my FOmar, and although only ONE has given me the damn Angel Harp, I really didn't have to spend THAT much time doing the trick to find a Pal Rappy. Well worth it, in my opinion. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Calculating mat usage? Bah, no way. Too much trouble, but I am taking care to only give my characters mats I know they need. I probably haven't used more than 50 on my highest level character, even. I'm always giving away mats, so I think I'm doing fine there.

Hmm... I do use guides here for mags, but I've only begun to do so recently. It's been trial and error for almost 2 years now, which hasn't really worked out too well. o_O Great guides here, they helped me save more than one mag. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

For the most part though, I play the game just for fun, no stressing over the most minute little details. That's just me, though.

I just play, well then again, i did calculate my FOmar stats, ad i just pick up/deposit materials. As for rare monster hunting i never do that.

In all my time playing i've never tried the pipe trick once, and i've still come across the following

2 Pal Rappies(suppresed gun, nothing)
4 Hildablue's (2 on Very hard, 1 on normal, 1 on hard)
1 Hildatorr(dropped nothing)
4 Mil Lilys <2 on ultimate all dropped god powers >=( like i need that for a FO...and one hard mode one dropped angel mind ++) weeeee

yeah... I love to just "play". I'm to the point where I play alone... I am about sick of 3 out of 4 players joining a game and asking me if I have "drkflw 4 trd". Do people play anymore? I dont know... but if I had a penny for every hack that has asked me for a drkflw/ bkb... you get the idea http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I just play alot, but then I'm not online.. so just play is about all I can do.. I do calculate my mags, but I don't track mat usage, altho I've stopped using evade mats, cuz I chaos sorcs seem to drop them like crazy for me, and I figger I've eaten enough, and I save my mind mats incase I decide to play a force some time in the future.. I've never really had the urge to try the tp trick either, I'd rather just do runs through an area and smack down everything in sight, the only rare I've ever _found_ was a booma's arm, but I lost that to a memory card corruption, I did get a soul eater, but that's not really finding.. I think it's prolly better to let the rares come to me, it makes 'em seem better if I don't go hunting for them..

Chaos Sorcerors drop piles of Evade mats for me, too. I think my second highest stat is EVP by now. o_0

Reinaldo - Basically it's just using telepipes over and over again to try to get a rare monster to appear.

I must be the biggest PSO-Nerd-Fanboy, I use this site for all my PSO knowledge, if I wanna look for a rare enemy i do the 011,111,311,411,511,611 etc. trick. To this date I ran into 5 PAL RAPPY's, first one drops a Hard Shield, second one drops 1243 meseta, third one drops a Core Shield, the fourth drops a telepipe, and fifth fianlly finally finally!! it drops a Slicer of Assassin, weeeeee for Redria. Ive done the pipe trick a few times only to waste my time, still no Mil Lilly, I do Fake In Yellow with my Purplenum HUmar I see an AL RAPPY, omg it does drop a red box, it was Elysion. I stopped entirely of the TP trick. If i notice that thetime at the bottom right end in 11, i'll try to get a rare enemy, but from now on, im just gonna play the game for what it is and see what i get. Last night I played Ultimate for the first time with my HUnewearl Bluefull. Sil Dragon drops a Holy Ray, i was stoked! Ok, so im playing through Ultimate Forest Heat Sword with my Redria FOnewearl, the little room where 2 Hildetors drop when you break that box......OMG a Hildetorr, me and my HUcast friend, Hellfire, whack and whack at it, it dies, omg!! No red Box, he drops 1300 meseta. Weeeeee! And when i say im a PSO fanboy, with all 4 characters of mine and all the mag cells I have aquired through time, Ive always refered to PSSOW's Mag guides, great guides, anyways whoever took the time to read this entire rant, thank you.
