View Full Version : Can any of you read asian-ese?

OK, so I went to a flea market and my dad let me gat a katana as an early Birthday present. I have no idea what's inscribed on it, so I was hoping you guys could help. I don't know what language it's in, but I do know it's not hiragna; that's all I can read.

Not sure what it says. I think it is Chinese. And yes, it is upside down.

It looks like Chinese, but it's on a katana, so it's most likely kanji & it's upside-down. ;]

It's upside down Kanji. Flip them and they literally translate to:
" Now/Today, Old, Path/Way, god/deity, strike (not 100 %sure, could be "fist"),
journey (not 100 % sure), ground/soil.... the last two may be an idiom for "wanderer" or "journeyman" ; these kanji are a bit obscure to me...

And it does have a use, BTW. I collect blades so it's part of that. And my friend came up with asianese. ^_^

That's Kanji alright, but I don't know much Kanji, so yeah....
Looks uber advanced. Might be a Katanac, possibly...
