Well, I have:
- All elemental bow pas
- All elemental handgun pas
- All elemental laser pas
- All elemental shotgun pas
- Dark, fire, ground and ice nades
- All 3 axes pas
- Ikk and zubba for knuckles
- Rising and spinning for saber
- Daggas for spear

Since pt's get lv 40 bullets and only lv 30 skills, I mainly use pt as a support gunner with traps, and some melee thrown in there for big numbarz. I tend to switch around my melee pas for some variety, and also have the rest of the knuckles, spear and saber pas in storage, as well as barada maga.
Bullet arts shouldn't be such a pain to level (I'm looking at youuu laser, and a bit at handguns) when we eventually get our exp rebalance. xD

Laser skills rack up huge damage even at very low levels. Grab all those and spend some time fighting boomas to get their ATA mods up a bit.

Shotgun: you will want all elements for damage output even though the %'s look like crap. For starters though pick ice and get it leveled up to 21+, at least it's good defense.

Grenades: Fire at 21+ (for SE3 burn) and Boma Duranga are all you really need for PT.

Bow: just get Chousei-sou if you want to save leveling time. Use it for shooting bosses at long range and switch to laser or handgun when whatever you're shooting at comes close enough.

Handgun: I really like my handguns, just for spamming damage or statuses while dodging around or chasing stuff with a saber. But they level slowly and need 21+ for SE3... 31+ for a much-needed damage boost. If you're going to start with one element I'd suggest Earth or Light, something to make openings against dangerous groups of casters.

I'm a durega fanatic, never tried redda. At lower PT levels, ex traps are incredible cause the protranser stats are nothing to sneeze at, Always have them maxed out before a mission. Obviously bow is essential. Make sure you have all elements or at least a majority. Don't over look saber/handgun. Its your only real maneuverability as a transer. Bring a nade laucher even if its just a koltova gun, they're useful in specific situations.

Only other thing, don't get discouraged by protranser stats, by level 6 they've fixed themselves, though they don't really get any good until 12.

one MIght also want to mention to take into consideraton your acc. As a transer this is one of its weakest points and you should always remember it when getting new weps. big att is one thing but if you hit 0 7 times outta 10 then its all for nothing.

I think I might be one of the only PT's out there that rarely (if ever) uses pistols. I just feel that I can do the job better or just as well with the rest of the weapons available to me. If there's a point where I feel the need to use one, there's almost always a PA that can do the same thing on another weapon.

Maybe I feel like it's wasted potential? Being a "heavy weapons/traps specialist" I personally don't like to fall back on "light weapons". I'm given so many tools, it feels like a waste.

So me, as a PT I drop Saber/Handgun combos as soon as I hit decent enough lvl to use all my other weapons.
This doesn't mean you should follow the same path as I did. More so to point out that I feel PT has plenty of tools at their disposal, almost more so than other classes.

The important thing to know about PT is trap usage and how to play supportive roles effectively, and efficently.
- EX Traps tick for 6 seconds, and if mobs are left alone after the inital trap is done, the SE usually sticks for a few seconds as well.
-Certain traps don't stack. Virus overwrites Fire, Burned foes can't be frozen. Traps like confuse are often overlooked, but still useful if you don't want to use something else.
-Posion Traps SE suck balls, but they knockdown monsters like Vahras.
-Always, always be mindful of the party with you trap use. Do what's best, not what you want to do. Really intent on freezing a mob, but are with peeps using fire xbows burning everything? Use your head. Readjust your attack.
-You can use Freeze Traps to save your teamates from certain attacks. (I.E. Spinning Vears, Jumping Foie from Vandas, things like that. If your close, notice their health is low and they aren't quick enough, pop that trap. You'll save them a scape and the trouble.)

Don't be afraid to put out damage with the rest of your party. Just because your a PT doesn't mean you can't dish it out. You might not see as high a number as your fF/FG counterparts, but you can still cause major trouble on the field.

Level your bullets! The SE/%s are so very important, you'll notice a major differance as they lvl. You can only improve in combat with better bullet lvls.

Acc is fairly bad for us PTs. Personally I switch off between a Cati/Hit and a Cati/Power. Generally I have the hit on for Grenade Launchers and lasers. ( and most of the map) then a Cati/Power for bosses.

Remember, as a PT you have a TON of options. I can safely say this is my 2nd favorite class. (2nd to Fighgunner.) Have FUN with the class. There's loads to be had.

PT bullets vastly outdamage PT skills, so level up your bullets to 40 ASAP.

3750 damage total for a shotgun blast, you can double it if you can get two targets close together, and that's before taking critical hits into account. Definitely PT's best one- or two-target damage, considering rate of fire and everything, and quite solid compared to what a lot of fighter classes do even with JA and all that. The last move of Anga Dugrega (with JA) hits that hard for me, to put it in perspective.

PT's will get lots of mileage out of melee against monsters that take half damage from melee, and against aggressive guys who need lots of knockdown or 360-type AOE. You'll probably have to be picky about skill choices in order to have full elements and maybe some useful specials on all the guns that need them.

Edit - Protranser's handgun is a better single-target status weapon than anything else they've got. In combination with a saber it's good for status/melee damage combinations, like in MAG it was great for taking on Bead Groodes which had a lot of anti-melee moves. Spam handgun running at them, then Spinning Strike to take 'em down.

2 long swords (gravity break)
1 bow (almost always using dark fire or ice)
1 spear (dus majara)
1 axe (redda)
1 rarely used gernade launcher (dmage reflect pa on it... good for bosses)
pistol / saber combo
and a stack of all the ex traps
