Depends on what mission your hunting at.

Needle Cannon-Grove Fanatics: Use Killer shot
Kan yu- Plains Overlord: Use the hiding spots/ "Noob holes"

Ect....

Also be sure to skip enemies you dont need to fight if your just after the RAR and not the exp or mp.

I start by trying to find a quest that has a lot of the particular enemy I need to kill in it. Barring that, just doing random runs and hoping it drops.

Let's see. If I know the monster appears a lot in a certain quest, I do runs of that quest until I find what I am after.

If not, I just do random runs in the area I know the monster is in (Like the Central Control Area when I am hunting S-Berill's Hands). If it is in a box, I just do normal runs to see if it would be in said box.

To put it simply just endlessly kill what drops your weapon until it does, trust me it gets boring but its always worth it.

Yes, finding it accidentally sometimes does happen a lot... I tend to search for certain rares by doing quests or runs.

I must have done over 50 FoS runs and not a single Hildetorr :(

I did VR Temple last night, I'll do Spaceship tonight and see what turns up :)

I've been hunting a Frozen Shooter from a Hildetorr and i have found the Hildetorr, 5 of them in fact. But sadly they're all CHEAP AS HECK and give me monofluids! Oh and for those that dotn know the Hildetorrs chances of appearing are i think 1/512 and a Frozen shooter drops with 1/2 chance. I've spent over 8 hours piping for a few monofluids XD I think I'm gonna stop hunting this thing.

i go by the PSO code of rare drops. Anything that will drop wont, unless countless hours are spent divided by the tears cried minus the number of times cutting yourself.

Do what i do. say to yourself 'if i get this rare from this very enemy right now, or on this run, then i'm gay.' make sure u have your fingers crossed though as it's happened to me many times XD

since i'm top level i do hard/vhard/ultimate equally.
i only hunt a item when the drop rate is very good, otherwise i simply do runs.
