Well, try to keep your distance. Remember when you were in Normal Mode and you went through those areas. It is the same thing. Hard mode isn't that much harder.

What kind of class are you...?

Depending on that, you should try leveling up a bit more, equip DEF/HP units, and try to see when there is an opening, to dodge and hit, etc.

Use the hit and run method for the first few lvl's till you get used to things on higher difficulties. Get better gear as well, it may take a few trips to town to get some to appear in the shop as well.

if you can get a partisan or sword, you can use the 2 hit combo that prevents you from getting hit after completing it.

Try doing quests that give you a partner (Battle Training is one, I know claiming stakes isn't, and I'm not sure, but I think the third one you start with does). They can divert attention from creatures to themselves and sometimes even throw in a hit or two.

Go back and complete Normal EP2. It should give you a few levels, and in my opinion, is more fun than playing EP1 Ruins over and over again, but it's up to you. I actually think the best EXP out of all of those is just doing Hard mode.

Once you get used to it, it's pretty easy. Falz becomes a bit trickier, but I won't explain why. Go and fight him for yourself if you want to know. ;)
