Thus it will have endless patches only resulting in it having support dropped a year after production in favor of an 'expanded AI firmware' that will cost half of what the original unit price but will require the 'base AI' found in the original unit. A year after that, that unit will be dropped in favor of an entirely new unit that will be shinier and slightly taller but still filled with bugs. The cycle will continue ad infinitum and they (being die hard Sega fans) will eat it up every time.

I guess it's for the lonely guy who wants to kill themselves later this year for buying a toy to mimic a yammering girlfriend. At first its "oh look what it can do!" and then eventually guilt and self-pity settle in, as the lonely guy realises just how far his depravity and inability to get any woman sets in.

Yeah, I think saying it acts like a real girlfriend is a bit well, premature. Even from the short video, it still 'looks' robotic (I mean, look at the way it moves, not much different from those bipedal walking toy robots you used to be able to buy).

I'm all for advances in robotics, but it does somewhat look like an overglorified toy. I am interested in robotics, but saying this is for 'lonely men aged 20+' is just absurd really. I would love to see a future with robots integrated into society (not in a LOLCHOBITS way either, or whatever other anime some people are thinking of now). I just think it's a step we're going to take at some point.
