I understand that the site has gotten a bit expensive to run lately, and to my knowledge no one has helped to foot the bills.

Not sure who has the backups, but they could try hosting on wikia.com for free.

So explain this in the easiest way possible for people.

My guess is on a shared server and not a dedicated server so the bandwidth PSU uses hogs up the bandwidth of the shared server.

Remove forums too.

Server resources refers to a lot more than just bandwidth. Dynamically generated content multiplied by hundreds of users at a time can gradually put a bit of a load on a server, especially when that load has to be shared with dozens of other websites.

Well, it was up for a moment. The main page now redirects you to the host stating that PSUPedia will be down for a bit. On the plus side, the forums are still up, so that's something.
