There you go.
I haven't done as much as pick up a tin of prismacolours so yea, it's pretty terrible. (//_>)

Now for the help.

Prismacolors can be fun, but it's very important that you be careful with the direction of your strokes. Use the direction to enhance your image! Unless you really want to do cross hatching, having strokes at right angles will make your coloring look sloppy and unplanned.

Zelda Wang's How-To on colored pencils does a fantastic job of illustrating what I mean

Keep in mind that the neck blends into the shoulders. It's not a bar. Here's a picture for ya.

Keep plugging away at proportions and try to draw with visual references as often as possible. You'll get it.

I noticed I did the neck wrong when I finished it.

<Facepalm.>

I have a lot of trouble with colouring in darker &lighter &the guide confused me even more.

How am I supposed to do this with a set of 12 prismacolours?

12 should be enough, it's just a matter of mixing up colors and not putting to much pressure on the pencils.

I never had more then 12 at school as a kid T_T

oh another thing: The grey lines.. are.. emm.. to grey-ish

Leviathan

Then what colour should I start out with if the lines are too greyish.

Hmm, I believe my hands are stupid.

I either

Apply TOO little pressure.

or

Apply TOO much pressure.

Well, you can either choose to:
• Make the greylines very light, so they won't be visible when you color.
• Make the greylines darker, or use a fineliner to trace them.

about pressure.. umm.. it's not like you have to do the colors in one go.. the longer you keep making light strokes over the same part, the darker it gets..

Yea, I suck at this. (//_-)

I tried what the thing said but it ended up like that.
It's more of a lack of experience and more likely, patience. I remember abandoning my colored pencils in my teenage years when I was just too impatient to spend the time doing 5-10 even more layers of light strokes.

Don't feel like you have to put color on every last bit of the paper. Start ought light and if you think you need more color, go over lightly once again. You may have to go over something 10 times to get the right intensity of color.

Rotate your paper. I'm sure there's a few motions you make with your hand while drawing that feel more comfortable and natural to you than other motions. Rather than adjust your hand, move the paper to accommodate your hand.

Texture is one of the most appealing things about colored pencil. The mishmash of strokes tells me you're trying to get uniform and consistent color. Unless you're willing to use up an entire pencil going over an area, you're not going to get that with Prisma colors.

Using Zelda's method is going to take time in order to get the results you want.

I tried shading.

I think I did good part part of me screams "This sucks!"

Hmm, shading on a Pizza Hut box=Not good &explains the hair.

The pizza box probably didn't help much however, I will give you this, It looks much better. Besides shading come with practice. What might help you more is working on proportion. Everything in a face is proportional. The eyes are beautiful in this picture and the nose is flawless. However, they are not proportionate to the lips or ears.

I had the same problem until I started drawing the outside of the head before I did the inside. Try that see if it works for you.

I'll take in your advice about drawing outside. The lips &ears are disproportionate but I guess that's what happens when you draw too quickly.

But thank you for your critique &comment.

Does anyone have tips on colouring skin?

When you colour something &it has shine on it do you just leave it blank?

&When you <& if> you leave it blank how do you colour the area around it?

&Mixing colours with Prisma to make it appear darker? I only have a box of 12 &I can't find a away to make a person's skin darker. (//_-)

Do you have a sienna? lightly use that then use whites and yellows to try to make a fleshy color.

I think that'd work

See the improvements, yes?

qoxolg

it's looking alot better already! :D you're definitly improving!

now for the critique
• The eye's are to high. The eye's should be somewhere in the middle of the face.
• The nose is to long.. and thats because of two reasons: It's because 1) the eyes are to high, and so is the nose. 2) the lips are to low, she hardly has a chin, this results in the nose being even longer.

if you have some photoshop skills, you can fix it up a bit by moving and resizing stuff :)
