Is there a way to disable the Youtube embedding? They make pages take longer to load and then they start caching once the page has loaded. I'd rather it simply just link to the video rather than put up that big box.

Just install Javablock and/or NoScript. Problem solved.

The YouTube video shouldn't download on its own like that... That should only happen when you actually hit the play button. The YT player itself is pretty small.

Is there a way to download and play youtube videos on your harddrive with fast foward and rewind options?

Fast forward/rewind on youtube videos is dragging the little slider that marks where you are in the video.

As for downloading, dunno.

As far as I know, video downloading doesn't begin until after you click the play button, unlike some other video players used by other streaming video sites.
