hmmm it's actually intriguing. I read the wiki description. It's pretty amazing how some
students made something that brought them into Valve's world and made a complete
classic out of the foundation of the gameplay. Well, it's pretty mind boggling. But ya,
maybe I should get the Orange Box. oh wait, I already saw everything. ^^;

well that's okay cause puzzles really aren't that fun to me but it's fun seeing the pros get it
done, while we can benefit in experiencing in some way. :p

And now they announce Portal 2 in the making, but I don't think a sequel is necessary, that's
kind of like making a sequel to Snow White. you simply shouldn't do such things.

The box of oranges has been out for over a year and you haven't tried Portal? It's not worth the twenty bucks that Steam charges you for it but it's a nice extra in the box of oranges. If you're a good puzzle solver, the main game could be finished in a day. There are a few advanced puzzles worth looking at but it's not a long game.

Have you never heard of Counter-Strike? I'll spare you the details but it was made by high school students who were then hired out of college. Similar things happened to other folks during the late 1990s with Doom and Quake modders. And, really, things like that still happen today. Just look at the Team Fortress team, Day of Defeat team and whatnot. Valve has become rather noteworthy for their hiring of talent at young ages. That goes back to the kids they hired to make Half-Life even.

Wait. What? There's a sequel coming because it was horribly open-ended with the storyline. For one thing, who the hell is the main character, Chell? Finally, how was she spared from the poison gas while everyone else at Aperture just vanished, presumed dead? And finally, what was the fate of the crazy shower curtain ring salesman that started Aperture? You admit having not played it yet claim to know what should or should not happen in the series?

I'm late to the party on everything, mainly because of my past addiction to FFXI. I gave that game my full attention for too long. X3 Things like the Disgaea series and Twilight Princess (and so many more that I can't remember off-hand because I seem to know nothing about games anymore XD) have never reached a console of mine yet. Right now I'm still too busy with PSU and Valkyris Profile 2 to play anything else!

Also, I think Saner's the new Hamburglar :burger:

Watch out!!!

Actually, to be specific, the computer tells you the gas will kill you in about six and a half minutes (something around there). My take is that the room's high ceiling and wide open space makes it tougher to fill than the narrow corridors throughout the area.

The funny thing about this topic is that I own "The Orange Box" for the 360 and I am obviously aware of Portal but I have yet to actually play the game. Despite all the hype, I am in no big hurry to begin playing Portal. My copy of the Orange Box is just going to sit there untill I am in the right mood.

Not playing Portal is akin to slapping yourself in the face for being a gamer.

On the subject of a sequel to Portal - story-wise, it does take place in the Half-Life world, and a sequel certainly is possible. However, it has been stated that a sequel to Portal will not just be "more of the same," but rather, that their goal with it is to make a game that pushes boundaries and creates a unique experience.

So in other words: Portal 2 will be to Portal, as Portal was to the rest of the FPS/Puzzle genre.

In all honesty, Valve is one of the companies that I could see actually managing to pull that off.
