What exactly does the "SECRET GEAR" do? It says it's made for Stealth, but my Evade Power went DOWN when I equipped it over my General Shield (though, the Defense went up a good 75 points or more). And yes, I am still a newbie in Hard Mode.

It doesn't really do anything special. It just raises your defense by a good amount.

Secret Gear is definitely a good shield to use to help out your character early on in the game. Around levels 40-60 I would say.

In a game where you max out at level 200, yes, 40-60 is early.

But really, I'm level 108 and I'm still using my Secret Gear. There's nothing I've found so far that matches it for defence *and* evade. And +30 to fire and lightning resist and +20 to ice is just *great*


REally, until you find a Kasami brace or something, it's pretty much the best you can get, all told.
