Higher mode in Raiden X?

I've been trying to get to Normal/Hard mode on Raiden X. I pick it in the options, but when I load up my game it's still on Easy mode. What gives? :disapprove:

The difficulty seems to be working for me. Of course, I went back to the main Arcade listing to load the game again between switching difficulties.

try clearing your cookies before hand as well
