Scary media plays a big role in how I celebrate Halloween. I'm going to play Silent Hill 3 today (possibly all of it), and I'll watch some movies with my roommate tonight. We might rent Halloween, and I'll try to pitch the Silent Hill movie to him. :-P So what are your favorite scary games, movies, or books that help get you into the spirit?

Fatal Frame and the Silent Hill series.

Good horror movies as well, despite most not being more than "lol startle". I generally like the older ones, 'Burnt Offerings', 'Poltergeist', etc. etc. Most of the new age stuff is just horrible.

Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, and Dead Space.

I'm immune to horror movies (and just not a big movie watcher anyway)

I can't stand horror films/games (I hate things making me jump), but Evil Dead is always good for a laugh

I remember the first time I saw Evil Dead / Evil Dead 2, I was laughing through most of it. Awesome movies

I will recommend BLACK SHEEP to all of you. No, not the Chris Farley movie...
It's absolutely perfect for any Halloween :)

It doesn't need to be - still fits Halloween perfectly.

Doom3 for me. Been watching 1 horror movie a night all week with my roommate. Last night it was Feast. Tonight it is Zombie. And I might throw in Planet Terror for a late-night showing as well, if time permits.

Silent Hill is regular viewing for me, I probably watch it once every 1-2 months.

You know those Scary Stories books from a long time ago? Yea, those illustrations still scare the shit out of me.

I enjoy most horror games, particularly Silent Hill and Fatal Frame.

I didn't play them today though, but I did watch Poltergeist on ABC family (loL)

This. There really aren't many good horror movies that couldn't be considered "gore-ror" that have been released lately. It's weird how the best way to get a real horror fix is by games rather than movies...

Also, would anyone know of any good horror anime or manga?

I shall play System Shock 2 to commemorate the event. Still a classic, and a nice spooky-ish atmosphere to boot.

Midnight Meat Train is free to view on the FEARnet.com and the Comcast On Demand.

It was passable if you ignore some weird plot inconsistencies and a quick wrap up final 1/3 of the movie.

Somewhat big names in the film, but it didn't get a whole lot of distribution and advertising even though its a pretty good movie.

Brooke Shields
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
And Vinnie Jones plays a very convincing subway butcher.

You might remember him as the big guy whom didn't say much in 'Gone in 60 Seconds.'

When I came into this thread, I was expecting some sort of crazy propaganda.

I was severely disappointed. :(

Also, I tend to ignore Halloween. No scary media for me. :p

...And it still sounds like a really bad porno.

Where did it initially sound like one?

I don't get your emphasis of the still.

That could be part of the appeal for you then, I guess. Just don't yell bait and switch.
Its not like it was an existing movie and then titled into a porno, such as the example by John Leguizamo in his autobiography, him and his friends trying to sneak into a theater to go see "Rambone."

And that would be the limit of discussing porno titles on these forums, so watch it in the following posts now.

Silent Hill and Resident Evil are my favorite series of all time, so I'll mention those. I like Silent Hill, Halloween, House on the Haunted Hill, etc. for movies. I also like the Chucky movies, but mostly to laugh at. Funny story, I was terrified of dolls as a child, so I avoided the original Child's Play for years and years. Then I saw it and laughed my ass off. :-P
