Especially when it's usually posted people seem to think they know the stance of the other person. (hint, people sometimes care to a degree.)

Miss Croft...eh...not so much.

Sorry, Chun Li is vastly superior in every way. Peach and Samus don't count, I don't think anyone even really noticed them until Smash Bros came out on N64. ( Don't even lie, half of you didn't even like Peach until that. Samus was a few pixels for cripes sakes.)

I couldn't agree more. If you're going to go with a chick from SNES, go with Cammy from SF or Sonya from MK. I don't think Chun Li is attractive in the least, but maybe I'm not a good judge for the kind of perspective y'all are looking for.

Back on topic, Lara Croft? Well, as of Tomb Raider: Underworld, she's looking better than ever.

Personally, I think huge boobs look gross, but again, my perspective isn't great for this. Ironically, I just put up an Underworld theme from the PS store, and meow! She looks pretty great. Not to distract from her kick ass awesomeness, and I think it's great that she shows a smart side, a strong side, and a sexy side. Some girls think the idea of her is sexist. Na uh, not me. I embrace it. :-P

Lord. If you could see Lara Croft walking down the street, everyone would run and scream in horror. How that face can be described as "realistic" is beyond me.

It's ok as cartoony, but combined with realistic backgrounds she's starting to look very off to me. Like an animated blow-up doll, if you know what I mean.

And Alison, it's not her fault, but she has not womanly hips.

I never liked Lara Croft. The first video game character that I ever had an attraction to was Hitomi from DOA. Then later I became a lolicon. Card Captor Sakura made me do it.

As a general rule, anyone who sticks to that mantra when this subject comes up is incredibly insecure and feels some primal need to establish faux-superiority over others, in the sense of stating that they're not in the least attracted or allured by anything feminine or womanly unless it has a real, living, breathing hoo-ha. 'Cause that's what all the cool kids do.

I'm actually pretty glad that she's become less of a blatant sex symbol these days. Tomb Raider Legend? Actually a pretty fun game.

The thing that bothered me the most though is that when Legend came out, they talked about how they had redesigned her to make her more appealing and less like a blow-up doll and... pretty much all they did was shrink her breasts.

I actually wish they would push her a bit more towards the hyper-realism design, but hey, maybe it's just me?

Female video-game character popular in America(worldwide too I guess), one of the only ones, and yet British.

I don't much care for Lara, and Angelina just looks plain weird if you ask me. Different tastes I guess. Can't think of a video game character offhand that I can point to and be like "this one, this is the hottest!" The majority of games I played were FPS, and those are mostly male characters.

eh not really, ive never found that Laura chick attractive
even when a fine girl cosplays her, yeah shes hot but she becomes less attractive to me for some reason hahaha maybe its the outfit or something, im just not feeling it.

i think Chun Li is definately hotter, and she has that little playfull type of archetype which is cute

Of course she's hot. That's about the only thing that's been selling her games since... hell, since they first came out. I don't think they were ever really good enough to stand on their own as games - cept maybe TR:1 just for the novelty.

I do kinda like the concept of Laura Croft though. I always thought that LucasArts and Core/Crystal Dynamics/whoever should make an Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider crossover game where each character has their own unique skills and knowledge. Make it more adventury - like Tomb Raider mixed with the old Indy titles like Fate of Atlantis.

Just kinda sucks there's noone left at LucasArts with a sense of humor anymore, so the campy jokes and classic Indy feel would probably be long gone - and Laura's bust would inflate another size to compensate.

Still, I think that if done right, it could work out really well... in theory anyhow.

No way. Chun Li is hot from the waist up, but her thighs scare the hell out of me. It's like someone took a cute asian tough but playful chick model and strapped on WWF HULK STEROID RAGE thighs and legs on her. Ick. Taki from Soul Calibur is much cuter, although any boyfriend she gets will probably want to get the hell out before her back starts giving out and she spends her days on the couch, eating chocolates, and staying continually way too high on vicodins.

seph_monkey
Nov 23, 2008, 05:04 PM
what i dont think there that big, but yeah they are muscle-e and all

Taki ahh shes alright her face isnt that pretty but in that new soul caliber that came out she looks alot better, i dunno if i had to pick i would pick any of them though because theres other girls that interest me more hahaha im just saying between chun li and laura id pick chun li
she can crush my pelvis with her huge legs any time hahaha

Or...we just think it's kinda weird that some people are sexually attracted to something imaginary.
I don't think imaginary is the word you're looking for - mainly because it implies that the subject has never been rendered or virtualized.

That being said, we're not talking about things that are imaginary, we're talking about things that are virtual - things that are art. Visual art, even - the kind of art that imitates life, an imaginary thing, or another piece of art. Using the female figure as an example of the life that is the subject matter (being that it's relevant to the topic), it's not all that strange to think that there are certain features of the female figure that are generally rather appealing - so how is it so strange that a virtualized figure sharing these features can be found attractive?

After all, it's a piece of work specifically designed to imitate that which is found appealing, in the first place. One could argue this with photographs to expose copious amounts of hypocrisy, but I think I'll pass on getting into that argument for now.

Hya, I'll never understand. Videogame characters are allowed to be called cool, allowed to be called jerks, allowed to be called dorks... But the instant one of them are called hot, someone has to go correcting everyone.
Wasn't it the ancient greeks that drew pornography on their bathroom walls? This isn't exactly a new concept here...

And I have to say, Chun Li is a lovely videogame character. Yes, her thighs are oversized, but that's the style of the game anyway. Look for one character character who isn't overstereotyped in the game, and I doubt you'll get far.
What I like about Chun Li, though, is her artwork. I love the expressions the artist gives her. She always looks both feminine and strong whenever I see her.

Y'know, I would generally agree with you on all counts, but have you played Tomb Raider Legend? I only tried it because it's free on Gametap, but it's actually a decent action platformer. I would suggest playing it with a controller, though.

Naw, I haven't bothered with TR since TR3 on the PSX. I did play the demo for Underground on the 360 and it seemed alright from what I saw. Kinda fun ninja-kicking birds and spiders for a bit, but not enough to make me want to rent it. I might check out TR:L if I can similarly come across a copy for free. Even if it's a good game, there's lots of other good games out there I want to play. TR has made too many screwup for me to really considering buying anymore games in the series.

Unless of course, they can get LucasArts to make that Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider crossover I mentioned earlier.

It is. It's kinda unfortunate, however, that people tend to look at the sexualized image and reputation that Lara Croft has earned and brush off Tomb Raider games, but as of late, they've actually become pretty decent "Prince of Persia with guns" games.

Tomb Raider Legend was the best Tomb Raider in a while. It did a lot to bring the series back to what it was about in the first place. The mystery of discovery, fun puzzles, and not too bogged down in the combat. Oddly enough, it had one of the best stories in the entire series. It did kind of take a bit of getting used to, in the way she actually works with people. I never really considered Lara a candidate for working with anybody as she started whole-heartedly as a "I work alone" kind of character. (Perhaps there was a Tomb raider, I didn't play in the middle, that showed her opening up to having partners) The story does help give you an idea of what could've caused her to become anti-social, in the first place.

For me, it just seemed that the image of Lara croft for those interested in her looks must've sprang simply because she was a woman, no more no less. That's the only logical answer I can even think of. Originally, she wasn't to be a looker at all, and to tell the truth, she wasn't. She also had almost 0% people skills. She has better relations with a 1000 year old artifact than with another person. Her only real conversation skills were behind a gun. She was put together in a way that really does not scream model.

In a way, that's what I kind of liked about the character. The unusual aspect of starring a non-social tomboy. Especially during the first Tomb Raider, I figured that would be the perfect idea. It was a character design I would've thought would totally remove her from the realm of attractive characters, to the role of a butt-kicking not-so-attractive hard-edge character. However, I was wrong. Seemed no amount of low-poly detail and character disposition would stop a bunch of guys oggling her. Something that really came as a shock to me.

To say I was surprised, the first time I read any article talking about Lara's sex appeal, would be a huge understatement.

Lara Croft never been very appealing to me...

Can't really tell which feminine character is the first one I thought was 'hot' though...
Never had much gaming systems, I went directly from Genesis to NGC so...
Had the occasion to play DreamCast from times to times at a friend's place though, so I'd say said character would be from a DreamCast game.

As for DoA girls, that pretty much makes sense they look hot, it's one of the biggest feature of the game along with the counterattack system ; they wouldn't have made a Beach Volley game out of it, otherwise...

I like how detailed the dirt looks on her and how she gets progressively dirtier as you continue to play. I wonder if a corrolation can be drawn to her sullyness and the unkempt nature of a sexually frustrated teens pants who plays this latest installment in Lara's Croft misadventures in Indiana Jones world.
