That's about right. The whole celebration is to insure the african-american culture does not get absorbed by the american culture. The different colored candles represent different things: Past, Present, and Future (I believe). And the various items on the table where you have the Kwanza candles also signify things, though I seem to have forgotten what alot of them mean.
