Story Mode Trials S-Rank question...

Not new to PSU. but I am new to actually playing the offline story. Anyway, during the trials that come up while playing the offline story, does getting the S-Rank mean anything other than getting a good item reward? Do they alter the story or anything else?

edit: ah sorry, probably should have asked this in the Gameplay, Guides & Walkthroughs forum. My bad. Haven't been to these forums in sometime.

No alterations to the offline story; it just gets you a better reward.

on some parts yes...S ranking some missions can gain you an access to some sub-plots in the game. (mostly on Ep. 3 though, which is available online atm)

but on ep1 and 2...no.
