My phones have always been the really lame, free, hilariously shaped ones that they give you when someone else in your family starts up a contract. But that isn't a problem since I pretty much only use my cell to text people, which it's pretty alright at. I have Sprint because it's the only provider that covers my area (a middle-of-nowhere college town with about three things in it, counting the university).

I wouldn't mind getting an iPhone, but it's not like I'd pay for one either.

To all you people with touch screens: Enjoy your fingerprints and semi usefulness.

I have a Kyocera Wild Card. Probably can't find the pic at the moment, so I'll update later. It's Virgin Mobile service by the way.

I have a Razr V3m, before that I had some generic plastic bubble thing that could never get reception. I never had much of a use for a cell phone until I got into college so I've only owned two. My cell phone does me just fine. Despite Sprint's valiant efforts to lock me out of my own phone I am able to bluetooth wallpapers and ringtones into it if I feel like changing them as well as getting them back off.

I don't really have any future cell phone purchases in mind. At one point I did consider the Blackberry Pearl but I don't have much use for any of the features it offers when I think about it.

I have a Razor. I dig it, because it fits in my pocket, doesn't look weird, and works fine. My brother has an LG Shine. I personally don't like anything that isn't a flip phone. :/ He seems to like it though.

I use an iPhone and Motorola Q. I currently carry both, but will stash the Moto Q later, which I don't really like due to its lack of wifi. The iPhone on the other hand owns.

LG Wave. I think this will be my last clamshell phone, since this thing is a piece of garbage. Phone resets when I miss a call, which is, well, too frakkin' often.

Pretty basic, but hey, it was free (I'm not even paying for service on the thing).

I was about ready to upgrade to one of these things (http://www.htc.com/www/product/touchpro/overview.html), but then HTC went ahead and announced its successor (http://www.htc.com/www/product/touchpro2/overview.html), which has everything the previous one does, but more of it/better, and forward-compatibility with new versions of the OS.

Some sort of free Motorola phone I got with my contract upgrade.

There was a brief moment when I wanted to break my contract and run out to buy an iPhone (which strangely coincided with everyone in my office getting iPhones), but I came to my senses when I realized that it would cost far more than it's worth and I definitely don't need another opportunity to connect to the internet.

(It's for that reason that I hope in a few weeks I don't wake up after a mad spending spree to discover I've bought a DSi.)

I don't use mine a lot, but it's some piece of crap Nokia. :-P I want a new one, but I'll have to wait until September for my contract to renew. The main criteria I go by with cell phones is it has to flip.

Mine is some sort of black slidey thing that apparently does tons more than I use it for (basically making calls and errr, that's it). Will be getting some sort of Blackberry device through work soon so I can be in contact 24/7 in the event of anything catastrophic happening. You can only imagine how thrilled I am about that u_u

I 'use' some old Motorola (L6, I think...). I say 'use' because I got given it for emergencies. I've never liked using a phone anyway, so it doesn't bother me. I'll just run this one into the ground before I get a new one

I don't have a monthly plan, so I picked this 'cause it was the cheapest one at the T-Mobile store.
Not really a big fan of talking on the phone (creepy disembodied voices that never sound like people do in real life, awkwardness of not getting nonverbal cues) and I never text, prefering face-to-face or complete Internet invisibility.
I always experience a half-moment of confusion when a T-mobile commercial comes on TV, because I use the standard ringtone.

I am hiply square or what?

It's a Nokia, dunno what model. I've had it since... high school, I think. It's beat up and scratched up to all hell, discolored, and there's a shitload of dust stuck inside the screen. My ringtone is one of the shitty default polyphonic ones - one of Chopin's scherzo pieces, since it's the only one I can somewhat relate to as a music major, and doesn't sound QUITE as completely hokey or annoying as the rest of the crap options on it. I'm pretty sure it has a minibrowser on it (which I have no desire or intention of using because I'm sure it sucks and costs more to use), and I never text with the thing because the keypad is either too damned unresponsive or puts in characters twice because you have to mash the keys so hard. It has a port on the bottom which I don't recognize and never received a cable for, so I have no idea what it's used for, and for some reason, it keeps saying that I'm roaming, although I'm still living in the same general area when I got the God-forsaken thing. I have to keep buying phone cards to add minutes via the Simple Freedom plan, or else it takes all of them away after a month or so, and it only tells me how much airtime I have left at the most random times, and never when I REALLY need to know, often leaving me with an unusable phone at the most awkward times. I'm surprised it even still works...

But I swear, once I can afford a new phone, I'm probably gonna take a sledgehammer to this thing...

I own the Blackberry Storm.

It is awesome! I highly recommend it over all current phones (even over the band-wagon iPhone).

The Storm has a touch screen technology that I believe is the only one to have it. First, you touch the screen where ever you want. To select something, you press the screen (the entire screen is a button). No more accidental multi-presses like the iPhone!

My provider is Verison, which is my first time with the company (I was using At&T and then Cricket). I am highly satisfied with Verison, I lost my signal only once for 10 seconds and it was in the middle of nowhere (literally).

The Storm has fast internet and GPS capability. Text, picture text, email, and pin messages (every blackberry has a special pin number, which lets other blackberrys do a special messaging system).

You can link up to 10 email accounts, which lets you recieve, send, view, and manage your email accounts from your phone. You can also setup a blackberry email account for free.

Various applications and games can be downloaded and installed directly onto the Storm.

Bluetooth, great camera quality, and many other pre-loaded functions.

oh, and the sound goes up to VERY LOAD and great quality.

Old Nokia flip phone. Having had an iPod Touch for about six months now made me want a smart phone with internet access anywhere. The number of times I've wished there was WiFi in a store so I could compare on the spot alone would make it worth it. Plus, Wikipedia anywhere? I'd love that. In the mean time, I'll stick with that old Nokia junker.

The Blackberry Storm is not wi-fi dependant. It gets internet as long as you have phone service. ;-)

Interesting. I remember reading some reviews that the Storm was a letdown compared to the iPhone, but it's cool to see someone's personal take on it.

My carrier only has the Pearl 8130 and two versions of the Curve. I recently saw that they released a Flip version of the Pearl which looked really nice, and the Bold looks fantastic. Unfortunately I would have to switch carriers to get the phones. :disapprove:

Personally, I think both the Storm and the iPhone are trash(for what I do). If you send A LOT of email from your phone, touchscreen keyboards are are about as comfortable to use as a rectal exam.

I've literally used every BlackBerry that's been on the market for the last few years (I work with mobile developers) and the Bold is the best offering they have so far. If you are looking for a business centered device, get a Bold. If you want something a little more fun, go with an iPhone.

It still has NO Wi-Fi, which is an instant fail for a smartphone. Verizon might have a decent 3G network but most places have Wi-Fi, so not including it is rediculous.

And yet, you've never actually posted any info regarding the phone beyond "OH LOL LOOKS WAY BETTER THAN YOUR AMERICAN SHIT. JAPAN RULES!"
But seriously, the Blackberry is bulky because it's basically a casual Palm Pilot. Your Japanese phone just makes me think they had some guy with five thumbs on the design table going,"Damn this looks good."

In moon runes of course.

Better start posting some good specs on this shit, other than just saying go look for it yourself. If I have to look for it, that just leads me to believe that you're either too damn lazy to post some sources or are embarrassed by your own phone so you have us look it up to give yourself some time to figure something actually, ya know, good.

....*rubs chin* Has it ever occurred to you that I just simply prefer flip phones over smart phones?

My phone's also a flip phone.

I have a Razr V3m

Which, for the uninformed, is this:

Sure looks like a flip phone to me. Now I am like you, I can't stand non-flip phones myself. The few that I have owned have been flips, and I try to stick with that as often as I can. I don't know about you, but I enjoy the form-factor, the action of the flip itself, and the protection the clamshell gives. However, i'm not arguing flip vs smartphone in this case. I'm simply stating that your flip phone looks like it would come out of a cosmetics student's purse back in the mid 90s.

However, Blackberry recently came out with a flip smartphone. One that I think is pretty nice, if a bit bulky.

I'd get it if I didn't have to go through the pain of switching carriers. So technically, you could in fact get the best of both worlds. If smartphones not being flip phones was your beef, then that's all you have to say. But calling the phone ugly, when your phone certainly ain't a prom queen, seems a little thick headed on your behalf. And then to suggest I do research just because I don't understand your Japanese phone doesn't help me want to be anything less than a miserly, grumpy old coot to you.

And for the record, i've grown several gray hairs more than your avatar.

To the above poster, I was simply voicing my opinion regarding to a giant bulge in your pocket when cell phones are meant to be portable and easy to carry? I can assure you this is not "oh its Japan, so therefore its better." Thank god that's cleared up.
Calling me lazy while it would've taken you seconds in google.
Why the hell should I look it up in Google? If you're praising a phone such as this so highly, you'd think you'd post a little more info than just a picture and the name. Getting info from someone that has it is a lot better than,"Go google it yourself." One, that would just put myself off of the phone and two, asking for any experience from one who owns the phone. (Surprise: It's you!) If I were interested in the phone, you killed it all off.

I do need a new phone though. Mine has been all scratched up.

Fix'd.

Besides the KRZR which only lasted a short bit, phone companies in America are focusing on phones similar to the I-phone. Such examples include Verizon's DARE, or VENUS.

The only U.S. flip phone I found appealing was the KATANA from Sprint, but their specs are...well, mediocre at best.

And FYI, from a global perspective, DoMoCo is a very, very, well respected brand of cell phones. Just because you have never heard of it does not mean it's to be easily overlooked as a "weeaboo" shallow minded view on flip cell phones.

Above: It's ok if I've killed your interest on the phone. Plus, I doubt its a luxury a high school student would be able to afford anyhow.

I never said I had any interest. I meant that in the way that if I was interested, you coming off as a prick and telling me to Google it isn't very awesome.

And "luxury" is questionable, since it seems like every other phone. I just want a phone that can text and talk. With a color screen. Then I'm good. Nothing special for me, as I didn't grow up with a bunch of money, and I know when things are useless or over glamorized.

Not to mention if I actually had that phone, it looks like I'd break the damn thing in a week.

So, what's your favorite kind of bridge, Yunfa? Old wooden bridges are charming, but I think stone ones offer more protection from the elements.
Maybe you prefer something more stylish:

I do like some Black Berry phones.
I just don't think I could bring myself up to paying $200+ on a phone. :disapprove:
And Verizon really sucks.

But the real question is, and my friend asked as well, just how the HELL do you use it in America since NO provider will carry it.

Any unlocked GSM phone will work on carriers that use SIMs. Reason #1 why Verizon sucks.

Verizon is such a monopoly in the states, if your Verizon phone brakes, your friend has an extra phone he doesn't use, BUT you can't use it since it uses a SIM card! Why? Because Verizon customers can ONLY use Verizon designed phones.

Most customers only follow advertisements & commercials, which Verizon does a very good job. But if everyone knew the advantages between CDMA (Code-Division Multiple Access) & GSM (Global System Mobile), the phone market in the US would be different.

For instance my friend who came back from Taiwan recently bought a new Sony Ericson, since her plan is with T-mobile she has no problem using a foreign phone.
