The other day,I woke up to pc troubles. Kept crashing, blue screening actually, saying about memory issues. After a while, I F12 at the startup and ran a diagnostic, and saw memory 1 and 3 failed the test. I have 4 gigs of dual channel ram, since I forgot to mention. I took out 1 and 3 and the tests passed.

Now, my question is, before I go and order new ram from Newegg, how can i tell if it's the slots that might be bad and not the ram?

Take out the RAM (all of it) and test the sticks individually.

Put one in, boot up, memory test, rinse and repeat. If all of them are failing, then the problem likely lies within the motherboard or DIMM slot.

Alright, I tried switching the stick I had in slot 4 to slot 1 and the test passed. So since it's dual channel ram, the other slot should be fine as well. I just ordered ram from Newegg. Thanks.

Here's what I ordered- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148163

Seems like a good choice. I haven't had any experience with Crucial, but the specs look good. Seems to have nice reviews thus far.
Cheap too.
