Signed up to be a beta tester for Global Agenda (http://www.globalagendagame.com). Has sort of the PSU-style action thing going for it, except you have much more freedom of movement and it seems a LOT faster paced. The game runs off a heavily modified Unreal Tournament 3 engine. Most of the combat is third person, but much like PSU you can go into FPS mode - however it looks like you can MOVE in FPS mode, much like most FPSes out there.

E3 Cooperative Play Developer Preview (watch this one to get a full idea of how the coop play works!): http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-global-agenda/51116

Classes seem pretty basic. There's the heavy weapons dude, the stealth/sniper dude, the support guy, and a specialty guy. Hopefully in the future they refine this to make it less straightforward, but seeing how this game is being natively made in the states instead of being dependent upon Japan, I'd like to think they will listen a bit better than SoJ has with PSU.

However, instead of instanced gaming, I think the game has a persistent world that all players share. Don't have to be worried about being segregated from each other because of different servers/universes.

What do you think? The game looks pretty promising to me. It was featured on E3, but didn't receive as much fanfare as say, FFXIV did.

P.S. There's a section for the beta signup that says "Previous Beta Testing experience". I put "played Phantasy Star Universe". Think that's enough? :D

Edit: Btw, this game has no elves. See the developer's reason why:

I didn't listen to the audio, but it reminds me of Tribes...only persistent.

The game actually looks kind of interesting. I'm all for mashing new gameplay types into an MMO - and medics get "Heal Grenades." That's just great.

One of my clan mates is a developer for the game and got my whole guild invited to the alpha and beta. We played it for a while. Good game, but I thought it was going to be an MMO, so I didn't like it.

It's not persistent, it's lobby-based just like PSO, though the lobbies are big and have many sections.

You know, on one hand, I'm a little disappointed, because it's been presenting itself as an MMO... But on the other hand, I'm kinda glad, because it means that we won't be plagued with the issues inherent to large, open-world games when it comes to twitch reactions.

At least, not as much.

I was kinda angry too. All the trailers definitely give you the impression that it's a big-scale MMO. I thought it would be the answer to a Planetside 2 (I'm a big fan of Planetside), but the ads are deceptive. Still a good game, but they shouldn't try to put a twist in their marketing... I know this game will get shit reviews because people will jump in thinking it's MMO, setting themselves up for disappointment.
