Hey there everybody! Got PSU for the xbox 360 (My gamertag is "NFS Fahros" and my character name is "Fahros") with my friend about 3-4 days ago, and we've been playing nonstop. We're in our 40's now, and it's been a ton of fun, but I also have a ton of questions. Some are general questions, and some are class related questions.

Just hoping somebody gets bored and feels like answering some Q's for some Fahros rep. If you can only answer one question even don't be discouraged, I'd still very much appreciate your answer/opinion.

1. How do you go about price checking items when you want to sell them on your player shop?

-This can get very frustrating / annoying for me, because I have no idea what so many items are worth, the only way I'm doing it is taking the time to type in the item name with the little xbox chat interface in to "Search item" from the computer in my room. Then go shop to shop and look at everyone elses prices. I do this for every item. Is that the only way? Is there a way to just search cheapest and match that if it's reasonable?

2. Speaking of items, I just got in my 40's, some people in my parties are having some really pro gear...When should I start investing in Srank weapons/armor? I've gotten all Arank weapons for the most part, I thought that was good, but meh...some people are just extreme.

3. Also I should mention I'm going the Force route. Speaking of Forces...my spells are leveling up EXTREMELY slow. Granted I'm leveling over 10 spells at once but...I wanted to be the pro force that has a lot of variety in his spells and whatnot, and was fun to play. Is there a trick to leveling spells up or do I just have to deal with the slowness? Any suggestions?

4. Speaking of Forces, I'm planning on going for Masterforce. How pro is the damage on that class? Worth the wait and leveling Fortetecher(Already doing...) and Wartecher(Ewwww) up? Haven't seen any Masterforce's while leveling thus far. I've seen a lot of Acrotechers though, and they seem pretty pro, but not sure if I'd like them because they seem more support than raw damage.

5. Any alternative to White Beast?

-Me and my friend have been getting spam happy with this lately...We did literally every mission we could find at first on all the planets, just did all of them. Afterwards though since we would just be repeating missions anyway we decided White Beast was probably the most worth our time. Is there any alternatives that are just as good, maybe something we missed?

6. We really liked the old PSO event missions where you went through all of PSO episode 1! Are there any more of those?

7. Any general advice? Maybe something you think I should know that I probably don't know?

8. Mind if I edit more questions in later when I think of them?

---

Haha, I think that's it for now. This will be a huge help. I know there's other important questions I had last night, but I can't remember them now. I might come back and edit a few in. Thanks in advance for any questions/opinions, and if you're in your 40s-60s and ever want to party with me and my friend, hit me up!

I can only suggest where and how to get the answer to your questions.

Go into the game, PSU. Check around others players.
'Not what they have on their pallets'.
It is there PA's, that will very much tells you 'Which type of player's they are'

Event players, Tourist or Dedicated Hard core PSU Players.
It is the dedicated players you need to get your questions answered.

You would peffer a Tour Guide to take you on your guided vacation, right.

1. it is possible to search more efficiently. Since i use the german version and play on PC i dont know whether this path is correct:

Go to your telephone in your room --> search shop --> 2nd from the bottom. You should have a huge search window where you can enter name, minimum price, maximum price, rarity etc.

2.

S rank armor and weapons are not worth it in most of the cases. What counts are Slots and the %. Especially at the % the S-ranks suck. They are just rare and thus expensive even though most of them are akin to useless.
So you basically get one crappy armas line down the road and use it for your S slot units and thats it. If you feel like high % then mass synth Yamata-Senbas. But watch out: no S slot units and no extra slot in it.
Some goes for weapons. High ATP is nice when you are low levelled, but later on the extra damage from your weapon in most of the cases is marginal compared to your base ATP, so Acc and weapon % become more important.

3.

Good spot to level about anything ranged is Sleep Warriors S2 (or lower in your case). You need the pattern where you start on the plateau and you got stairs right in front of you behind the crystal. When you go down the path you should see enemies, two walls (left and right) and a laser fence in between. Kill the first 2 spawns. Then swap to your weakest weapon and start the 3rd spawn. Run back right around the wall and hide there. The enemies will block themselves at the wall. Now you can cast spells through the wall.

What speeds things up a lot is having me/quick, har/quick(better) AND being Acrotecher.

4.
Masterforce has the highest TP of all spellcaster classes. Probably the highest damage then. Its support spells are limited to level 10 though. Which is basically the reason why i never will touch that job.

5. Reasonable alternatives are any AOTI missions.
I like Seed Express, Maximum Attack G' and Awoken Serpent. But White Beast is simply the most popular mission.

6. Maximum Attack G' at Guardians Colony floor 5 should do that.

7. Dont pick up aporaline, antimates, regular photons, kakwane tails and all that stupid junk. They are worthless. If you want to sell those for 5 meseta a piece, change the item distribution at the beginning of a mission for common items from random to finder.

In 99% of the cases: Dont knockback small enemies without killing the target when in a party. No dugrega, no jabroga, no tornado dance and almost no finishing strike of a combo.

Do use the same knockbacking skills on big enemies.

Dont underbuff buffs of allies. Meaning if your buffs are lower, then dont use them. Same goes for debuffs. Same goes for Giresta.

Dont knockback or launch Komazlis.

Have Sol Atomizers in your palette. It's a must.

Use Agtaride/Defbaride/Zodiaride (and Retaride if you feel like it) as a fighter class.

Have 10 Scape Dolls with you.

(not so important: Dont sell somewhat useful synth items that are needed in masses and that drop in masses in stacks of under 10. I'm thinking of elemental photons and Vulcaline and the likes. It's just frustrating for the shopper.)

1. How do you go about price checking items when you want to sell them on your player shop?

There is a shop search function. Your visual phone has access to it. It is the last option above cancel. I can't remember what it's called off of the top of my head but it has a very powerful search function.

You can type in the name of the weapon you want, add an element to it (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Ground, Light or Dark) and search for weapons of that criteria. You will be able to see all of the available items (provided you spell the weapon's name correctly and the keywords do not interfere with the search), see their attributes and price.

The sorting and filtering function helps but is not always convenient.

2. Speaking of items, I just got in my 40's, some people in my parties are having some really pro gear...When should I start investing in Srank weapons/armor? I've gotten all Arank weapons for the most part, I thought that was good, but meh...some people are just extreme.

Comparing your equipment to other players is a bad personal habit of mine. It's in essence, seeing who has a larger electronic ego. You cannot simply judge a player by their equipment and PAs alone - use what is right and fitting for you and aim to learn what works for you.

Many users here on this forum can tell you what the best PAs, best weapons and best hunting spots are but if you don't like any part of it (the looks, the sound, the interaction or the difficulty) then you aren't really playing the game anymore based on what works for you.

A classic example would be seeing which is better - practicality/function (Dus Majarra) or damage (Dus Daggas)?

Is there a trick to leveling spells up or do I just have to deal with the slowness? Any suggestions?

For the time being, there is no way you can increase the leveling speed of your PAs. You can continue to spam them as many times as you can per minute/hour to level them up though and these videos should help you in doing so:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCn8ZbPEX04

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkGFZC7qzEE

4. Speaking of Forces, I'm planning on going for Masterforce. How pro is the damage on that class? Worth the wait and leveling Fortetecher(Already doing...) and Wartecher(Ewwww) up?

Without a doubt, Masterforce is the best at dealing TECHNIC damage with the top equipment. Masterforce deals more DPS than Guntecher, Wartecher, Fortetecher or Acrotecher. At the moment though, it is an extremely fragile class and is not suited for support. That doesn't mean it's impossible to do so - Lv. 10 support is still enough to get by but it isn't convenient.

5. Any alternative to White Beast?

SEED-Express (located on Parcabana Beach/Coast on Parum), True Darkness (located at the Dallgun Viewing Plaza on the GUARDIANs Colony) and Maximum Attack G' (located on the GUARDIANs HQ) are all decent missions.

When you are alone, try the Innocent Girl mission (located in the GRM Shop on Parum).

6. We really liked the old PSO event missions where you went through all of PSO episode 1! Are there any more of those?

Aside form Maximum Attack G', there is only the rare missions that will allow you to access PSO stages. However, if you complete The Dark God (Located on Rykros (accessed by going through The Black Nest at the Dallgun Viewing Plaza)) you will arrive at The Place Between Heaven and Earth (or was it hell..?).

7. Any general advice? Maybe something you think I should know that I probably don't know?

Don't think of this game as a job - there are some etiquette to follow but most of these you will undoubtedly acquire as a Force type character. Most of them are developed/made to cater/make use of Forces so watch out for users that have the following shortcut and any of it's different versions:

"Shifta, Deband, Zodial and Retier has ran out - cast them again"

8. Mind if I edit more questions in later when I think of them?

No, I don't mind it at all.

1. How do you go about price checking items when you want to sell them on your player shop? -Very easy fix. use the Search by Condition function on your visual phone in your room. Trust me, this is the most useful feature your room has.

2. Speaking of items, I just got in my 40's, some people in my parties are having some really pro gear...When should I start investing in Srank weapons/armor? I've gotten all Arank weapons for the most part, I thought that was good, but meh...some people are just extreme.Dont sweat it. Most people who have WTFHAX awesome gear in their 40's likely have another character far higher they can get meseta / gear from. I should start worrying about S ranks whenever you are able to use them I guess.

Theres no trick to this, but there are a few things you should think about.

There are three things that pop up in my mind when i think 'technic leveling' :

1) Sleeping Warriors
Mission in Raffon Field Base. Has alot of pretty large spawns, but also ALOT of annoying ones. I used it mostly for Ra- technic leveling, but its useful for Gi technics.

2) Seed Express
Mission at the Paracabana Beach. This mission is best for just about every spell you own, really. Gi spells, Piercing spells (Barta, Zonde), and DEFINATELY Dam- spells will level like crazy here.

3) Yourself.
What i mean by this is, SOLO MISSIONS. Now, while your spamming technics in the other two stages, you should be using weak weapons to get the most hits out of your spawns. However, while playing with other people, the amount of technics you have to cast to kill an enemy is drastically reduced, which leads to most of your spells being pretty sucky, or you only have one or two at a level useful for battle. However, by Soloing missions, you have almost NOTHING but technics to rely on.

Bring your best equipment to battle with you, and solo a mission you believe you can finish. You dont HAVE to choose which technics to use most of the time -- just use the opposite element thats suited for the situation. This doesnt level them as quickly all the time as just spamming them, but it does break up the monotony of the process, and gets you great PA experience -- you'd be surprised how much it does, too. It also evenly distributes it, since you'll be using more than one.

BTW - Theres another mission people overlook when it comes to technics, and those are the Linear Line missions on the 4th Floor Guardians colony. I occasionally would use them for technic leveling -- the spawns are pretty good.

4. Speaking of Forces, I'm planning on going for Masterforce. How pro is the damage on that class? Worth the wait and leveling Fortetecher(Already doing...) and Wartecher(Ewwww) up? Haven't seen any Masterforce's while leveling thus far. I've seen a lot of Acrotechers though, and they seem pretty pro, but not sure if I'd like them because they seem more support than raw damage.Masterforces are the 100% Offensive branch of forces. ATM they do have less TP even than Fortetecher at max level, however that still doesnt matter, since they outdamage Fortetecher by a more than decent amount. Theres an update coming sometime in the future however that will not only boost their TP past that of Fortetecher, but farther increase the damage/speed of some technics.

However, the only way to really get the most out of Masterforce is to have high-leveled Technics. They're the only class with lv41+ techincs, and trust me, they get pretty badass. (Sadly, you'll never see a technic over its Lv21+ type, because ST released a patch where only the caster can see them because the graphics become so WTFhax godlike looking.) But trust me. They get huge.

5. Any alternative to White Beast?
-Me and my friend have been getting spam happy with this lately...We did literally every mission we could find at first on all the planets, just did all of them. Afterwards though since we would just be repeating missions anyway we decided White Beast was probably the most worth our time. Is there any alternatives that are just as good, maybe something we missed?White Beast has great payoffs, but you should always just have fun playing other missions. However, in terms of pure EXP, i think Innocent Girl outdoes every mission in the game. (Reduced HP enemies, 200 - 300% increase on EXP). I use White Beast for Class leveling, but i play just about any other mission i can for everything else.

Get a good batch of friends, and tour the missions. White Beast is a great mission, but it is not the only good one in the game, trust me.

6. We really liked the old PSO event missions where you went through all of PSO episode 1! Are there any more of those?Guardians Colony 5th floor, talk to front desk lady. Old Event Missions, Maximum Attack G (MAG). Be warned though -- during the events those enemies had reduced HP, but in those missions they're at their correct levels...in other words, its kind of difficult, and just because at your level you're able to enter the mission does NOT mean it'll be fun. (At too low a level, the enemies will basically live forever lol)

7. Any general advice? Maybe something you think I should know that I probably don't know?Uh, not really. Just remember to try and stick to the opposite element of the enemies your fighting, but remember there ARE exceptions. That, and every technic isnt always made equal, unfortunally. Leave it to yourself to find out which ones.

(P.S. GET NOSDIGA.)

(another PS)

Debuffs are NOT useless. In fact, If your debuffs are proficient enough, I dont think you could be more helpful to your party, truthfully. Buffing your party's attack while lowering your enemies defense has an AMAZING impact on the damage your team deals. Also, it makes soloing a far easier task. People always overlook the debuffs because parties rarely ever struggle with missions, but they make a huge difference, trust me.

8. Mind if I edit more questions in later when I think of them?Of course not.

Thanks so much for the replies everyone! It's helped a lot. :D

Remius I'll add you after I get done typing this.

Couple more questions though:

1. How good is Me / Quick for techers? Thinking about picking this up, checked all the player shops that had it, and cheapest I found it for was 800k. I'm floating around 2mil now so I'd be okay, but meh. That's a lot of money. I'm still a Fortetecher now and I still have Wartecher to go, but thinking ahead would Me / Quick be kind of redundant on a Masterforce? Since they already have so much casting speed, or does it just make them that much more faster and putting out that much more damage? If it'll last me forever, I'll be more than happy to pick it up.

2. A friend of mine was telling me details on an upcoming patch. I don't know if he was full of it or not, but is there anywhere we can read upcoming patch notes? I didn't see them around. He was saying I should wait to bust balls leveling PA's because next Friday come patch time they're going to make it so PA's level twice as fast? He also said they're going to be giving us 10silver a day in casino's instead of 1? Sounds to me like he might be full of it, but who knows. He really knew what he was talking about concerning other game mechanics, so I bought in to it.

*Edit*

3. Oh also, it's been kind of hard to communicate with people. That text interface is unbearably slow, and I'm usually in party chat over voice com. with friends. So I've been stuck to shortcuts...I was about to go buy one of those text pads for the xbox 360 controller but another friend told me they're not even compatible with PSU. True/False? Anybody use these? I guess if they're not I can just run out and grab a usb keyboard for cheap, but seems like the text bad would be more friendly to use. Never had one though so I wouldn't really know.

Thanks again guys.

360 chatpads don't work for PSU, for me at least. I have one friend who says they do, but that's 1 out of a lot. :/ It's much better just to use a USB keyboard.

Send me a FR if you get a chance, AngelKratos7.

me/quick is a rather good unit although you are better getting a har/quick or smart, (but both are sorta out of your price range, although it is often better to hunt for one of those). it will boost the speed of your casting based off the classes base 'speed' so it will only get better with acrotecher or masterforce.

yes there is a reward related update that will give 2 weeks of a PA crack boost, with 10 s. coins a day, and top 'luck', (when it will happen is sorta unknown at the moment, could be next week or 2 months away) so it no big deal that you put forth effort lvl them up now, since the 'old fashion' way tends to let you fully learn the nuances of each tech, which lead to being a better techer in the end.

i am open to giving a helping hand (although all my char are over lvl 75) gamer tag is ajmoney502

All the stuff is coming from an event we just had a few weeks ago. Here's the official site.

http://phantasystaruniverse.jp/event/dark2009/en/

I'm not too sure about it coming next Friday, and all of the rewards only last for two weeks. (Some are saying three weeks. Could someone clear this up for me?)

not sure, i think they are considering extending it as comp for the sever 'issue' that happened during STD,but there has been no confirmation on that by sega or the GMs

Edward said the rewards would run for 3 weeks instead of two, because of the disappointment some players expressed in the delayed release.

(Obligatory first post here statement)

Hey everyone, Fahros's friend here, finally decided to actually sign up because I'm hopelessly addicted to Phantasy Star (again). Figured since he already made a Q&A thread or whatever, I guess I could throw in some of my own.

It's mainly regarding that scam of a casino (either that or I suck at it) and if what I heard about the increase in daily coins had any merit. Heard it from someone who's apparently played a LOT of PSU and was always up to date on stuff. Just wondering, because if so I can look forward to actually being there.
