I'm looking for a laptop that will run fast and get the job done for school. I'm about to enter my first year of college but I'm going through a summer program first xD The definite plus to the second is that it's cheap and received good reviews. I'm also looking for a laptop that will run games at decent settings though and I'm not sure the second one can do it. Mainly wondering if the second one can run SF4, while I'm fairly certain the first one can. HDMI is a plus for the first one but it's not absolutely necessary >< I wish I was more of a tech person that way I could just choose X_X

Number 1 hands down. The 16 inch screen, the Step up Processor, the 1024 MB Dedicated Video RAM is leagues above the other 1 for $200 dollars more. When I got my laptop with an HDMI port I didnt think I'd use it much, but now I use it to play PSU on my 32inch. The second one probably wont run games on medium settings really.

Hold off until July 27th if you want a free upgrade to Windows 7. It'll be worth it... Vista + laptop = shit in a box.

Also, laptops with AMD processors have a much higher tendency to break down.

My laptop purchasing decision went something like me walking into the I.T. store and seeing a metallic blue laptop all set up looking fresh, so I decided I want that one. Luckily as I was paying for it I actually read the specs and it was pretty damn good.

But yeh, the first one is a lot better for only $200.

If you're choosing between those two, get the first. The second one doesn't seem very good for gaming, at all.

I'd hold off on 7 at first, considering OS when they are released are always riddled with bugs. Atleast with this particular model he'll have 64Bit Vista the true Vista.

If I recall correctly, the step-up your OS thing comes into play JUNE 26th. I could be wrong.

Either way, in that price range off of newegg, I'd suggest these:

The second Laptop has an integrated GPU which means you can't play games on it unless you want 5 FPS on low settings. But honestly since brand is Acer I'm biased. Anything made in Taiwan already gets an A+ from me.
