I currently run Windows XP Home Edition SP3, I definitely want Windows 7 64 bit.
I am aware of some places, like Best Buy, doing guaranteed upgrades to Windows 7 with the purchase of Vista.
However, I found this on newegg for OEM version

I understand that OEM versions tie it's authentication to your Motherboard... and well, I usually upgrade certain hardware annually. Yet I have had the same motherboard for a bit, It still does everything I need it to do, I'm just thinking of how much longer this board will be suitable for other hardware upgrades.

Now the Vista OEM edition newegg is advertising in the top link says it comes with a free windows 7 upgrade coupon.
Will my upgrade to 7 also be tied to my motherboard seeing the Vista origin was OEM?
How exactly does this upgrade coupon work D:

Probably give the coupon to newegg, and they will give you a physical copy through the mail.

My guess on it. Searching the site doesn't seem to bring up anything concrete.

edit: Also, that mobo you are looking at, they are out of stock of it. ;T

Huh? download the release candidate and try it for free.

This is of course a beta and you can't use it forever. But it basically is windows 7 until Microsoft decides you need to give them money.
