View Full Version : Random thought about player standards/playstyle

So I was just sitting here and a question popped in my head: What kind of standards does everyone have, if any? Say for example, you'll only buy/use weapons or armor that is 30% or higher, or you have very stringent rules on what you'll buy and at what price. Or you lvl PAs in a very methodic way. In other words, things you do in the game that are specific to you. Your own "book of PSU standards." I'll give you an example of some things I do unique to me so you'll have a concrete idea of what I mean:

1. I'll only buy/use weapons that are 38% or higher UNLESS it's a weapon that I'm in dire straights of needing in a particular element and despite all my synthing and shopping, something that is below 38% is the highest I can acquire.

2. Normally, I try to get the same weapon in every element. In other words, a full rainbow set of Ank Zagzas, or a full rainbow set of Grand Crosses. I don't tend to mix weapons up that often unless I find let's say...an Okanoh that's 46-50%. Then I'll break the mold from all the Ank Zagzas. (I'm not saying I use just Zagzas, but that I try for rainbow sets for any weapon I like since I like order and symmetry)

3. Armor standards tend to be lower. If it's 25% or above, it's "okay" since cati/rainbow can kinda offset that. Minimum of 3 slots, regardless what it is. Arm is always a must (Goes without saying for a Fortefighter, durrr). Head slot can come and go, but not needed. Extra slot is also nice, but I'll make do without if I don't have anything better.

4. When I lvl PAs, I like to lvl them all up to a tier before moving on. For example, let's say I have a list of 30 PAs on me. I'll take all 30 of those PAs and take them to 11 first one at a time before moving on to 21. When I reach 31, I'll take everything to 35. Then make another lap around my PAs for the final push to 40. (I don't use master classes that often, so I haven't really established any PA rules for them, but it'd probably be about the same as my 31 rule). The 31 rule applies to any PA, including strike, bullet, and tech.

5. On my main character, she always wears pants, or clothing sets that include pants of some description. The only time she wore anything else is when females had no pants options. Yep, we're talking way back in '06!

I have other little guidelines to that I tend to follow when it comes to pricing items or buying them from player shops, but I'm really more curious about what other players do instead of me, so I'll end my self-description here.

Also, I want to point out that I'm not an elitist, and I don't look down on other players that may have standards different than my own, so I'm not going to point fingers at people and make fun of them even if they say "I don't really care, I just use what I can get or afford." That's fine too. I just want to know if other players have standards unique to them, or whether they just fly by the seat of their pants. ;p

1. I try to get good percentages on my weapons and armor, usually aiming for anything 30%+ is "good" for me. As for what elements, I try to make sure I have one of each for every weapon type I use - 6 elements for my twin sabers, 6 for my single sabers, and 6 for my swords.

2. I try to keep my weapons somewhat varied. A few extra ATP here and there don't matter too terribly much to me, but I like to have my options varied - a different look / mesh keeps it interesting for me.

3. I always make it a priority to try to get armor that has Arm, Body, and Extra slots on it, or at the very least two of those three. I like to have those skill and bullet savers in there, and that Orpad / Guard just seems to get lonely without me there. As for the extra unit, I like the options that the Whitill or Dark Wings provide, in terms of PP and HP regen.

4. I try to keep all mine around the same tier also. All spear PAs get to 11 first, then 21, then 31, etc. The only exception is with Ultimates that I buy later on. I'll usually use those exclusively until they're caught up with the rest of them though, and then keep leveling in order.

5. My main tries to maintain this "semi-official" look, so he wore his starter clothes until the AMF Army stuff came out back before AotI came out. Now, he wears an SPF Suit all the time - the only one he has, but I'm working on getting him a second one for a bit of variety. As for my female characters, I try to have a few outfits for each - warm weather gear, cold weather gear, temperate gear, and official gear. Again, it just adds a bit of variety to the game. Oh, and they all try to have different color schemes unique to each one.

Edit: Forgot to add, I try to specialize all my guys in certain weapons, and try to not overlap them (though one or two do seem to get covered twice). For instance, my main specializes in single handgun, saber, twin saber, and sword. My GM specializes in rifles, shotguns, and lasers. My Fighgunner specializes in double-sabers, twin daggers, daggers, crossbows, machineguns, twin handguns, and fists. My PT specializes in spears, axes, grenades, bows, shotguns, and lasers. I've used some of the other weapons and gotten their PAs to higher levels, but I'll worry about maxing those later on.

Hmm...let's see...
- At least 1 weapon per element. But when I choose the elements for my weapons, I don't want to use that weapon with any other element than the ones I chose (for example, my AF has a fire and ice saber, I wouldn't want any other element for sabers, since those are the ones I chose at the beginning).

- 20% or higher element for weapons (12* weapons are exceptions, 17% or higher instead of 20%+), 15% or higher for line shields.

- Having the same type of weapons with around the same stats. For example, my fortetecher has 5 rods, with the rewards it's going to be 3 Psycho Wands and 2 Gaozoran Rods. I'm going to grind the Gao Rods to around 5 or 6 and leave the Psycho Wands at 0 so they can have stats close to each other...^^;

- Never going to change the hair color of any of my characters...XD

Can't think of anything else... :3

1. Weapons need to be 40% plus now. Axes are my lone exception atm(currently 2 40% ones)

2. Armor needs to be Nico or Armas; currently using 25% Nico. Units I dont really ever change; Orpa/Mind Heart of Dulk work for me. Cati/Power is weakpoint atm but being patient for an LKK, and Red Wall fills defense nicely.

3.Green Hair neatly kept. No exceptions

4. Time Attacking/Speed running; I'm not a big fan of doing TAs because I dont want the burden of re-doing something over and over to shed seconds to a minute not having fun in the process, however I do TA when I'm call uponed(which is happening alot lately ;/) I also dont like "slow" parties so I always do what I can to speed up groups

Nice, this is exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks for the input you two. Very nice to know other people have the same kind of modalities that I do.

Also, couple other points I want to add to my own list:

1. My main character will always have yellow as her color theme, regardless of the outfit. Her hair always remains the same shade of light brown/blonde-ish color. The hair color and outfit color is her "trademark."

2. With grinds, I tend to shoot for +5 to +6 on A ranks, and +4 to +5 on S ranks, then stop. UNLESS it's a rare I have a lot of and I'm willing to break a few trying for higher. But vast majority of them are within that range (I hate grinding to be honest. It's nerve wracking seeing that bar shake and rattle every time it gets near the end, never knowing whether it'll succeed or shatter into a million pieces, along with your hopes).

hmmmmm.......

it is interesting to see the methodology that comes into play for how others play this game

1. I guess one of my biggest things is in terms of armors, more often than not i buy 0% with often 3-4 slots (if 0% not available, lowest % possible), almost always with a head, body, and extra slot definitely, (mainly for mind units for my casts or quick/smarts for newmans, and leg, guard, or resist for all depending on the situation), even though i use fighters classes for 2 of my 4 char. i will always go for the 'techer' type lines over 'fighter' type lines

2. always keep a deva-zashi on me no matter the class as long as said class can use S-rank daggers. i rarely swap it out not matter the situation. i guess because i believe in the motto "You never know when you need a knife." although i guess it more so like "you never know when you need a knife that silence your opponent." i guess a quirk i picked up from playing as a cast for so long.

3. i often only keep less than 100K on me at anytime during a mission if possible, i bank the rest on my bot or in my common box. i guess to help me keep from making impulse buys and hold on to cash for big items i have been waiting on like a guld back during STD, although this does back fire (just spent 11mil on a har/smart not too long ago, i love the unit i just wished i had waited to see if it would go down lower, being lucky if enough to pick up one while hunting.)

4. if i am going to use something a lot (see rule #2) i tend to pick up at least one 0% of said item, i guess i see it being cheaper to have something that works for any situation with out worrying about element penalties (although i guess i don't get the bonuses either) although this does not really apply to stuff like r-mags since the element is what makes them all that important

5. i play with mirror characters, i have 2 cast M/F both often alternate between AF, FI and 2 newmans, M/F alternating between AT, GT. it seems when on of the "mirrors" is one class the other will always be one of the others. (i go so far as to swap out all 'key' PAs, as well depending on the S-ranks as well as preferred weapons and the likes)

6. i tend to change the look of my characters depending on what class they play, (more so with the cast than the "fleshies")

i think that is it for me, weapon choices are usually what is a 'good deal' considering my funds or working off a my synth efforts (which tend to give varied results)

1 - when i level my billet PA's i do them 1 - 40(41) straight.

2 - i dont buy x/10 weapons. only broken weapons. i dont see why people pay seriously ludachrs amounts for 10/10 weapons when a 9/9 will do very similiar damage and cost a LOT less. ok, some weapons its a big difference e.g agito repca, but most weapons its tiny.

3 - when i log on i always check my common box lol. error's happen.

4 - i always bet black in casino. never EVER red.

5 - im addicted to collecting s+10's. its weird. id rather have 500 s+10s than all the meseta.

1. Carmilla will always use her Lucarel shells and nothing else.

2. Carmilla will always be in Red and black.

3. Use two types of bullets for each weapon (for difficulty purposes)

4.Reimu will only wear Flaxo, Mikuna, and/or G-Formal wear.

5.Reimu will only use Dual daggers, Saber/RCSM, Knuckles, and Claw/Handgun and nothing else.

6. All Kakwane will be killed without hesitation or remorse. Even if small, impressionable children are present.

7. Mystery Science Theater 3000 is the greatest TV show ever concieve by human conciousness.

Bolded the last two for emphasis. ;p

Also, this is just an honest question and not a flame to anyone, but I notice some people using Guard units rather than Rainbow units for their armor. Is there a particular reason for that? Because I find that Rainbow units midigate damage much better than the best Guard unit currently available.

At first, it was all items have to be 20% or higher - then when things started to get easier to synth and I got more of a budget, 30% was the new benchmark.

Blue hair for my main, black, blonde and brunette for my alts.

My four characters specialise in their own fields: Traps, Guns (GT, fG and GM), TECHNICs (WT, fT, AT and MF) and Melee (FG, fF, AF and FM). They will not change.

All four of my characters have their own PAs. No PAs will be swapped.

All of my characters have every PA available to their jobs (My main has 56 PAs, my Gunner has 122 PAs (soon to be 128 with Rentis/Dizas and all four Doublesaber PAs), TECHNIC user has 97 (103 with Rentis/Dizas and all four Doublesaber PAs) and my melee has 79 PAs.

All of my characters (will) have their PAs capped to their own PA limits, they won't all be at Lv. 50, just to what their classes in their group can use.

Yes... I know I'm crazy for learning/leveling two sets of Lasers, Grenades and Megiverse, three sets of Longsword and Doublesabers as well as four sets of Handgun and Saber.

With the 100 item capacity common box we'll be getting, the pimping things out at a cost and insane PA leveling boosts... most of this will all be for naught...

But I do the "rainbow" weapon thing as well but mainly because my PS2 can't really handle swapping out to a different weapon type at all without giving me lots of lag. It's helped me choose specific weapons though and it has worked out in my favour too - most of the weapons that I like are suitable for my characters to use with the elements. Ank Dedda/Ank Promotos etc.

Interesting topic - but I fear there may be lots of bragging going on... heh heh.

All weapons need to 30% or better if S rank, 40% or better if A rank. I try to get unbroken weapons (in fact I'd prefer to have the funds to synth everything myself, particularly A ranks), but when that doesn't happen I'll watch for really nice deals. Armor should be S rank and at least 20% for the moment. Armor was the last thing I really got into but I don't have the patience to speed run White Beast for serafi boards or SEED Express for armas'. Unfortunately for the moment I'm sporting green green lines, feril lines and storm lines. Extra slots on my armor are a must because I love auras.

My characters fluctuate in appearances, mostly I wear whatever I like until I get bored of it or see someone else wearing it. Idalia typically wears brighter colors and Arra the darker on my fleshies. I've had a lot of luck on my male fleshie, I hardly ever see duplicates of his outfits. The girls are hit or miss, sometimes I'm unique for a while, sometimes I'll think I'm unique and see someone in the exact same thing ._.

I like weapons that look goofy on Idalia because she's a little fighmaster. Bil de axes, sweet deaths, chainsawd+ and the like make me grin.

Funny you should mention that because that's exactly how I was too. Way back before they adjusted the synth rates on elemental %s, anything 20% or above I considered "good." And anything 30% or above was "well above average." And 40%-50% was so rare, they were in a league of their own. So most of my pallette was in the 20%-28% range. But I realize my benchmark keeps going up slightly over time as well. Like I said, now the minimum is 38%, but before, it was 30%. My armor standards are much lower, around 25%-30% like I mentioned earlier, but I'm sure that will change too if and when S-rank armor synthing becomes easier.

And yes, I'm well aware this could lead to some players showing off their uber all 50% S-rank pallette, but I'm hoping to keep that to a minimum and instead, showcase everyone's different standards and way of playing on PSU. It gives you a good idea of how people think and what their reasoning is behind what they do, which I find interesting.

Oh wow if I got a 50% in any weapon I'd stop what I was doing and go buy some lottery tickets. 40% to me is like a grand achievement. Oh and If I'm not doing anything with any of my two characters I have them in they're "Casual" outfit. Carmilla has her yukata and Reimu has her Mikuna or Mikura or whatever that name is outfit. The miko outfit is what I'm getting at.

Well for me, I rock  for the most part when it comes to armor so rainbow units do nothing for me. Why I do it? I am not sure I don't feel like scrounging for 6 armors of the same or similar type. So often I supplement the lack of a elemental % edge with legs unit for gunners or a guard for fighters.

I guess it would be easier if elemental % for defense were alloted to 'accessories' or something as well as 'reverse damage' (I guess if I got to gripe about this I would be better off playing FFXI or something)

Huh. Interesting topic. o.o

1. For S-rank striking weapons, I try for 32% - 38%, unless I can find a steal on something higher percent. My armors need to be at least 30%+, unless I can't afford it. ._.;

2. Grinds on my fighter weapons can be 1/1 for all I care. My techer is my baby, however. I want to try to have the highest grinds possible.

3. Leveling TECHNICS, I'll start like this: Ra-, Gi-, Dam, Single, Grant, Megiverse. I'll level them to the maxed tier possible. I'll level each element before I say, move onto Gi- spells. Lol. Weird, no? XD As for skills/bullets, I'll just choose whatever I feel.

4. Synthing-- I'll make only at max, 5 at a time.

5. Ethateral will always have white hair, be a magic user and an elf. It's my trademark online.

6. My A-ranks gotta be 38%+.

Uhm. I don't know if there's anything else right now. >.>

HOW DARE YOU QUESTION MY GUARD UNITS!?!?!?

Nah, actually it's mainly (for me) because I'm too poor to afford an elemental unit, and also because if a mission has me going from element 1 to element 2, then back to element 1, I'd rather carry a guard unit than three different sets of armor that might need me to also re-equip units. Also, I'm too poor to afford the bunch of different color armor sets, too. Us fighters don't have a lot of choices - pretty much Green Green Lines, Rabol Lumirus, and maybe some other random armor I'm forgetting about are pretty much all I use on my main. So, for me.... it's lack of financial support (and people don't seem to want to take IOUs for some reason...)

1. I uphold the Golden Rule; as in which was on Resedious Don's ad for a few days...

2. I only use neutral striking weapons...

3. I don't use Deband at all...

4. I play fair and I always do what I say I will do when it comes to certain drops...

5. Armor percentages aren't really that important to me, if I had it my way, all armors in my inventory would be neutral. Just am not willing to pay money for certain things; especially armor...

6. I do not tell people what they wanna see, I tell people the truth. When it concerns other characters, my point of views on the game or anything...

7. I will not buy rifle pas, all pas for striking weapons, all tech pas or will be swindled to get certain pas for anyone else's gain or mine. I only work with Killer Shot, Nosdiga, Megid, Ramegid, Dambarta, Foie, Zalure & Zoldeel...

8. I mostly grind to +5, but a few weapons will be tried to +6; I buy +10's depending on the weapon and C Ranks are the only ones that will be tried to +10: Fluorescent Bulbs, Harisen Battle Fans & weapons of the like...

I'm a stylist, I go by how I think would look good weapon-wise but I do try to plan out what that char will use before I've gone about fully making them and then when I go about getting the weapons, I don't care what I get for the first one, just as long as it fits the chat [like my 11% Ice 1/1 Agito Repca I use on Kailey, I will plan on getting a new one once I can get one but for now its an Ice Repca and thats all that matters], Grinding isn't that big a deal for me and don't really use it at all on AotI

Line Shields are a different matter and I'm more accepting on those, I can take any old LS and use it until I find something better that char can use

RebhtheDark

Oooh! Cool Topic!

Ok as for me....

1. When it comes to to striking weapons/R-mags they have to be 30%+, but lately I've been testing some neutrals. For guns I'll get the best I can buy/find. For teching I'll buy/find best I can get my hands on.
2. When it comes to grinding I'll get striking weapons to 5/10 for A's, 2/10 for S's. For guns they usually stay at 0/10. All my teching stuff get to 1/10 usually, but for psycho wands and pushans, I will grind them as far as they will go! Why all the low grinds? Well I have REALLY bad luck when it comes to grinding and its really nerve racking for me. Here is what I do when I grind: put the TV on mute, grab the weapon Im gonna grind + grinder for it, leave the room, press A button, wait 5 seconds, lastly check it out. Weird? Yes, yes it is....but its what I do....
3. For armors, I like to have all slots and 20%+. Simple.
4. Leveling PA's, Skills: I pick and choose ones I like and lvl them to 21,31, them 41 if I can, but thats only if I like them ALOT. Bullets, I put most of my effort on Shotgun and Rifle bullets and are getting all of them to 31. Will get the rest of the GM bullets up to 31 once I'm done with my techs. For my techs, I'm gonna get all my attack type techs to 41, all my support techs to 50, and all my fire techs to 50. Fire is my favorite. When I level techs I will level by element, I start with fire get all my fire spells to 41 them rest one day, then go to Ice spells, and so on...
5. My characters wear diffrent clothes, but always color coordinate. My main usually wears black and/or red, blue, and sometimes earth tones. And her eyes are ALWAYS red.

Yep...thats all I can think of for now!

1. I tend to aim for 30 % or higher weapons, unless itīs a made drop.

2. Also, i refrain alot from selling items i have. I like to collect more then to sell stuff, even if itīs worthless.

3. Grinding i can be satisfied even with 3-5 grinds, luck in grinding is rarely good for me.

4. I try too help out the party as much as i can, and "i respect any rule"* given.

For melee weapons, I aim for 34+%. I'll buy/hunt weapons so that I have one of each element for each type (Ex: Six double sabers, one of each element). I prefer to have all of the same ones (like six Carriguine-Rucar's) but sometimes I'll buy single element versions of that weapon type; Like Ank Dedda, since they tend to be a bit cheaper.

Armors I only aim for 26+% because they are both less likely to synth successfully and require much larger amounts of individual materials per synth (12* weapon needs like six Catilium, but a 12* armor needs like... THIRTY to THIRTY-FIVE polymers).
I'll also aim for armors with the lowest possible EVP (Serafi-Senba instead of a
Shinwa Line) because I absolutely HATE having my attacks canceled. If there was a body unit that's ONLY effect was EVP-500... I would so hunt it until I had three.

1) All melee weapons must be 30%+ if easily obtainable, or 20%+ otherwise (looking at you, Agito Repca).
2) All armour must be 20%+
3) All HU/RA armour MUST have Arm Slot, and if Ice/Light element must also have a Body slot.
4) Obviously, all FO armour needs a Head slot
5) Neith will never be a colour that isn't Black or Red for more than a day or two.
6) Teika is heavily themed around the colour purple, and I try to integrate it into most of her outfits.
7) I will never use the same hairstyles on too many characters- if Neith has a ponytail, Teika's hair will be long and vice versa.
8 ) I'm OCD about broken weapons. Weapons aren't 'right' to me unless they're /10 for the most part.
9) I make it a point to use Sword on Fighmaster (I use two on pallette).
10) I refuse to use Megistarides; I would rather spend a couple of seconds using Agta/Defba/Zodia/Retaride and not lose the HP. For the same reason, I refuse to use Regrant on my Techer.
11) I expect party members to be competent, not awesome. Hunters, don't knock everything in a mile radius away from me. Gunners, you have other weapons besides Shotguns. Techers, I do expect to be healed once or twice. I'm self-sufficent and will Trimate big hits but it's nice if a Techer heals first. Unless of course you're a MF, in which case I can let it slide.

Oh, and one last one for laughs:
12) I never, EVER use Gidiga. The screen shaking has been known to make me feel sick :disapprove:

for my fighmaster it is 42% plus weapons and no broken ones x/10 only. for armor i had two rabol nico's 20%light and 17% dark that i switched between. but i switched them out with a 15%light and 15% armas line. to much evade on the nico. i was leveling jabroga so i didn't want to block as much. for the extra slot deffinatly Cati / Stamina. sleep resist when i have on the light armor, and rainbow when i have on the dark. for the arm slot i use a LKK. and Hizeri / mind for the head(though im not really sure what it does). When i am leveling my striking photon arts i work on just one until it is a LV50. then i switch to the next.

For my Fortetecher it is 10/10 9* all the way! two Chao staffs, one howrod, one Ulteri, two Shato's, one Magical one, and one serdote. the armors are a 50% dark cardia-senba(2 plus on end for added magid protection), and a 50% light yamata-senba. the units for the cardia are har/quick solid / power s, and cati stamina. for the yamata har/quick, solid/power s, sleep/resist. and for the techer photon arts i get them all to 11, then all to 21, then all to 31, then all to 40.

1- I only do with weapons/armors I find/synth by myself and don't accept presents (unless those are ingame rewards) from anyone. It just gets under my skin to use stuff I didn't earn by myself. Not need to say I never bought such items in player's shop (a couple exception with a stack of Citrad I was too lazy to gather for an Amorosso Top, and a room deco that was dirtcheap). Yeah, I'm still using A-rank weapons/armors mostly, but it doesn't really matter to me, as the game is still easy as hell, and most S-rank are looking like utter crap, IMO.

2- I keep one copy of each weapon in my PM. Only one. I don't have several copies of each depending on their element. I just keep the one that came out with the best percent. For armors, I only keep 7 of them (one of each element). Can be the same type of armor in different elements, it all depends what I found first.

3- Each of my characters have their own types (the four of them cover all the available types so far, but they don't share one in common). They also have their own set of PA's and don't share their stuff between each others. If I find a rifle with my WT, too bad for my FG.

4- I have a very short attention span. Doing the same mission two times in a row and I'm bored of it already. You will see me hanging in missions noone does just for the sake of doing something else. Can't stand playing with more than 3 other people ; I never found parties of 6 players entertaining. It's like watching a bad action movie where everything dies before you even see them spawning on your screen.

5- I rely a lot on the power of randomness. I chose which mission I'm playing next with a rolldice, and I sometimes dress my characters and build their palette likewise. The worst thing in that is that most of the time, it comes out pretty well.

6- For my characters outfits, I always dress them with clothes from different sets (provided it's not a one-piece costume, like Mikumiko). For my two female characters, I don't use Top/Bottoms/Shoes on one of them if I did for the other. For hairstyles, I chose a different hairstyle for each outfit I "built" for my characters, but when it comes to the accessory, I'm compelled to use a different number each time (i.e. if I used hairstyle 13 accessory 2 on one character, I won't use the accessory 2 on any other hairstyle I chosed for him/her). Don't ask why, I don't even know myself.

I usually just use things I've aquired myself, with a few exceptions. People sell high % weapons for way too much anyways.

I use weapons based on their look, like the Chainsawd. It's so badass so what if it's a little weaker? If you use the right element it does the job.

I never play PSU for more than 2 months in a row haha keeps everything fresh. Counters not having frequent updates

I always make sure to carry every element type of weapon

I don't NPC anything. I save every last berry, acid, and truffle

I never spam 1 PA to level it, that's boring. Gotta mix it up

I usually change clothes when I change class, unless I'm in a hurry

Wow, nice to see that my thread caught on! I thought I was pretty meticulous about some things in this game, but I believe some of you have me beat. >.> I'll add a few more of my own quirks that I left out last time.

1. I have 1 male and 3 females that I play as. None of the females have the same hairstyle, and if I change one's hairstyle that matches another, I have to go back and redo the other character's hair so everyone will remain different. I like having all my girls unique. <_<

2. As mentioned before, my main character will always wear yellow color-themed attire, regardless what it is. If there is no yellow variation in a set of clothing, or it's a shade of yellow I don't like, I will not wear it.

3. My other characters also tend to have colors unique to them. My male Cast is generally some shade of blue, my female newman I tend to use black, purple, or white with, and my female human is undecided but for now she's wearing...pink. That may or may not change in the future. It sometimes takes time for me to settle on a signature color theme for a given character.

4.This may sound perverted to some, but all 3 of my characters have different breast sizes. So you have the small, medium, and large. <_< Again, they have to be varied from one another!

5. When it comes to what weapons I use, I will generally make or buy whatever I can as long as it falls within my 38%-50% element range. So if I can't make it myself, I have no problem buying or trading from someone else and using it.

6. Also when it comes to buying equipment, I will generally buy a weapon that's 42% or above if it's 10 mil or below, which obviously doesn't happen often. I will sometimes go above 10 mil, but only if I need/want it desperately. The max I've ever spent on anything is..25 mil I think. But that was extremely rare for me.

7. I am extremely stubborn when I set my mind on obtaining something, and I will drive a mission into the ground until I get what I want. I will take breaks to help friends or do something else from time to time, but I will always come back to that one particular mission until the item eventually drops (Sometimes it doesn't and I just wind up getting it during an event which makes me happy and sorta pissed off at the same time lol).

8. When I lvl techs, I lvl by element rather than type. Meaning I'll do all fire elements first, then ice, etc. I have no order in which element I work on first but as a rule, I simply start at the top of the list and work my way down. Like all my PAs though, I lvl them all to a particular tier before making another lap around to reach the next tier.

That's all I can think of for now, but some more thoughts may come to me later when I'm not so tired.

Let the flaming begin.......

1. I almost always try to level my Photon Arts.
1a. I always carry high pp capacity(often low damage) weapons(except for fighters, they use the generic company weapons).
1b. I almost always wear a Cati bullet/skill pp save, and dark wing
1c. I almost always use the same element to defeat an enemy.
1d. I like to pick missions that corresponds to the element I want to level.

2. I like to level new Photon Arts with basic classes which I haven't maxed out yet. E.X.: grenade launcher PAs on ranger up to lvl 20.

3. In the beginning I buy the most useful PAs and have a PA for each weapon, eventually I buy more PAs until I have them all(I have every melee PA over lvl 20's so far).
3a. I leveled my initial PAs to respectably high levels then buy and level new PAs evenly and continue to level every PA, and bullets/technics in tiers.

4. I never cap my support spells, they get to their x1 then I let them lvl naturally.

5. I always link my technics for maximum elemental boost, with the exception of buff weapons(if I have them). E.X.: my first rod is always Foie, rafoie, gifoie, shifta.(I dun have damfoie yet).

6. My technic weapons usually go in the order: fire, ice, ground, lightning, light, dark/alt weaps.

7. I almost always carry at least 1 of every weapon available to my type. I mix the elements according to the mission or have an element of every type spread across the different weapons.

8. Element bullets over special bullets.

9. Almost never use guns on a fighter class(I carry handguns). Cards/bows on a techer class.

10. Speed over power
10a. Har/quick, AF, GU, FM, AT, MF

11. Buy for cheapness over %.

12. Low percentage armors, mega rainbow or resist

13. Never use beast mode, only have power beast, only carry SUV for really hard areas.

14. Never farm for an item(I gave up after 5 straight days of Amore Tip huntin when Birds 1st came out.), if you get something, you get something.

15. Selling ingredients and board and buying an item made is often more effective than making it yourself.

16. Always have pure PM's, lvl 100.99.

17. Only grind to 2(most of the time) using +1's on +3 PF days. I still have a stack of S+10's, waitin for a good time to use them.

18. Foie on Jarbas and other large enemies. Dark shot on mechanicals. DOT stick ftw.

Randomness
Jul 4, 2009, 07:26 PM
Usually, with armor, I'll settle for 20+%, as long as it has a body slot to plug Cati/Rainbow into. Generally, I also want head/arm and extra slots, depending on the character. Bare minimum is arm/body.

=0 missed something.
19(I guess). I like to level PAs according to the situation. Certain PA's have higher priority...:line, area, single. If there are a lot of enemies and they're easy to line up, or are lined up, I will switch to laser cannon, shotguns usually on large enemies or huddled enemies. Thus, Talise is not a shotgun !@#$% and actually has several higher lvl laser cannon bullets and many higher rifle bullets(atm)(Talise is a rifle !@#$% rite nao).

Ah, this too. The only things I'll level when something else can do the job better are the single-target guns: Rifle, Bow, Twins, because I can stand back and act like a turret to tag things.

Also with twins, there's the bonus massive evasion part.

1 - Most of my S Rank weapons must be 30% or higher.
2 - The only resist I'll wear is a sleep resist, and only because I don't want to make a fool of myself on White Beast.
3 - I prefer balanced palettes with a few choice elements
4 - I don't listen to any in game rumors and urban myths
5 - I blacklist people for cheating, stealing, and/or using racist slurs
6 - I'll allow people to play in whatever style they choose, as long as they aren't a hindrance.
7 - If people make too many silly rules during a mission I'll politely leave after the mission.
8 - I mostly wear a Yiel Line with my main characters. (Any percent)
9 - I always use a LKK or Vijerina Power
10 - Above all else my characters must always look stylish ^^;

I'm intuitively OCD (undiagnosed), meaning that my "rules" are random...

But for the most part:

Elements: 20%+

I also must match in colors and with my mood in my clothing.

Oh, and my PM storage, etc. is immaculate. >_>

Also, I don't give a shit about what everyone else is doing. I rarely even notice.

Well, this is quite interesting. Obviously everyone has their own preferences on what they like to do, and how they like to play. Here are some of my preferences, annoyances, and views. These are merely my opinions, but I don't pressure them on others.

-This one is probably one of the most important in my eyes: If you have PAs you need to level, do it on your own time or use them appropriately to the best of your knowledge. I've always felt that spamming the same PA through a mission slows everyone down, and also can cause some annoyances (example: using spinning strike when there are 5 enemies around you, tornado dancing everywhere)

-Try to use the proper elements in both weapons and armor, it cuts back on some frustration. I don't see it as that big of a deal if you're playing with a PUG. Just please, please don't use the wrong elements on enemies (example: fire saber on fire enemy)

-I encourage everyone to try to play to their best skill, even if you're with a bunch of friends just socializing. Whereas I don't stress it, I prefer it.

-Gameplay strategy in PSU > stats. Just because you have uber 50% armor and weapons it doesn't mean you're good, you have to know how and when to use your PA's and certain weapons at the right times.

-I tend to discard most weapons if they're under 20% completely, merely because I don't like the numbers. I as most people who want to have better equipment, strive for 38-50% stuff.

-I refuse to wear almost every male fleshie one-piece clothing on my main character. I hate "loose" looking clothing on him as well. I always try to picture how uncomfortable it would be to use certain PAs with something like the Formalwear on.

-Blue hair on Dragwind forever.

1. Characters should be from classic Phantasy Star games, plus the designs should be as close to the original designs as possible. If possible, make the PM Phantasy Star related as well.

2. Phantasy Star characters should use equipment that reference the classic games. If not, at least use equipment that the character might use.

3. If I don't feel like making Phantasy Star characters, I make characters that are from 70s, 80s, or 90s sci-fi anime. If not, I must at least create a character that's highly influenced by them.

4. Equipment for characters in #3 should either be ones resembling what they're using from the show, or just plain crazy weapons.

5. Weapons should only be grinded with 100% success rate. Grind further if you're drunk, or if there's an event that minimizes grind failures.

6. Weapons should be non-elemental unless they're only available with elemental attributes.

7. Armor should have 4 slots.

8. PMs should be pure (100% for one stat). Face it, Sega screwed up with their PM feeding system and this is the obvious route to take for grinding purposes. I could change their appearance anyway with PM Device.

9. When somebody is selling something too cheap, buy their whole stack and sell at a significantly higher price. That's called fixing the economy.

10. Sell Copernias and Olpads because I make more money with them than selling Grinder Ss.

Mega Ultra Chicken

I myself don't really have many standards.

1. I don't do cosplay characters.

2. I tend to look for decent %s (25+ since I'm still newbish) but still take power, PP, and price into mind. I won't kill my budget for an extra 1%. For armor, I prefer more slots over more %.

3. I shalt not perform any cruel tactics when trading.

4a. Mazarin is to use weapons that are compact, fast, and/or strike multiple times in one attack. That, or he totes guns. Oh, and he cannot wear a bikini or anything that's really scantily-clad.

4b. Berlitz is to use bigger and stronger weapons, or basically stuff that makes her look strong.

4c. Richelieu is not to wear casual-looking garb. He wears either more "old-world" stuff like Yukatas and pirate clothes, or he dresses in formal and/or expensive-looking clothing.

4d. I do not take Eris' breasts seriously.

More will be added later.

1) I level Pa's to their tier then move on to the next one.
2) When it comes to armor I'll aim for 15% or higher. Any element will do regardless of slots.
3) I never really put alot of thought into my characters. My main looks like me.
4) I rely alot on drops when it comes to updating my gear but sometimes I prefer player shops.

Weapons: I aim for 30%+ if possible (for every element). I also try to have a backup of everything I use, so if I'm playing a mission where I need Fire Sabers, I'll bring 2 instead of 1. I put one on my palette and when I run out of PP I switch to the other one.

Armor: 25%+ if possible (but I'll take what I can get and use a Cati / Rainbow!).

Grinding: +3 for A-ranks, +2 for S-ranks. I won't go higher than that unless I have backups I don't need (and grinders to spare!).

Player shops: I don't buy that much from player shops. Once in a while I'll make a big purchase if it's something I can't get on my own. I also sometimes look for upgrades to my fighter weapons. If I find a better % for a reasonable price I'll buy it and sell my old one. By doing that, I only pay the cost of the upgrade (the cost of what I bought minus the cost of what I sold my old one for).

My shop: I usually price my items lower than everyone else (or at least lower than ALMOST everyone else). I'm not interested in maximizing profits, I'd rather make less and sell faster and I don't like ripping people off.

My characters: My CAST will always be red and black.

Leveling PAs: I level groups of PAs at a time and I try to keep those PAs within a few levels of each other. Also, I never have and never will do AFK PA leveling. I play normally and let the PAs level themselves.

My standards are weird b/c i just went GunMaster a short while back. My only weps are Guld and Milla 8/8, Shigga Barec 10/10, and a 5/5 rattlesnac.

1. Always solo, whenever I run with a party I don't get the rare drops. ex: I was leveling my friend's wartecher so he cud go masterforce and a milla drops... I pick it up thinking that since he is still in VR:Main Block that I would get it and he does deciding to split it 50/50.

2. Level 1 bullet aat a time. If you level your bullets this way you will slowly speed up as you continue to run the mission. ex: Burning shot, Barada Banga, and Twin Dark, I solo Protecter's y in 20 minutes with my bot and Kurtz.

3. One class at a time. Meaning don't turn back. ex: take the class your on, go to lv20, then stay or start another class. lv 1 of any class is weak so lv it up to get a taste of the weapons and true values of the class.

4. Save up. ex: prices jump up and down all the time so save at least half your money that you make and later on invest it into a weapon that is cheap at the time and good instead of rushing to make the money and falling short.

5. Be smart. ex: on psupedia.info there is a list about 2 missions ahead of what to expect in upcoming events. It is smart to prepare yourself for those missions ahead of time b/c you will save money on gear that will go up in price and know what to expect to drop and know not to buy.

Those are my PSU standards use them well to become great at this game which is where I'm heading.

P.S. Level 1st, Money will come: as a newcomer you will think that a million Meseta is alot and as a lv 100 can make 100 million meseta off 1 run So, level up and in turn you will make money. =]
