Ok i'm just curious as to any FACTUAL and or good BACKED UP knowledge as to why or why not Xbox will be more or less cheated on than the GameCube version of PSO. Why ? because it's going to impact my decision on buying the game, though very little. because some of my other pals r getting it...

but to the point, I've heard from Barubary that the Xbox version will probably be the most screwed up version of PSO to hit us yet. I'm aware that linux can be implemented amongst the Xbox machine, but doing this doesn't it render your Xbox unable to log on to xbox live? and if not, wouldn't there be some type of block on software editing on the pso xbox game data? i really have no clue i just want to know the facts.

i allready have gamecube pso, but i'd also really enjoy starting fresh, and not knowing all my pals have every weapon etc.

Sean, buddy, Xbox PSO isn't out yet in the US but I can guarantee you it will be far less buggy than the GC version. "Why?" you may ask. Well I have been using XB Live since the Beta came out and can tell you it has remained exploit free since launch. Not one major exploit or hack has been implemented successfully over XB Live; pretty interesting fact.

Also, I warn you about taking Barubary's "expert" advice. People like Barubary are pretty much fishes out of water when they don't have access to a gameshark and there is no Gameshark avaliable for Xbox; XB Live can also detect GS use and block users trying to logon with it.

Another important fact to remember is your Gamertag is tied to all your personal information and a CREDIT CARD ON EVERY SINGLE GAME ON XB LIVE. Let's say I were to make a character called IronNinja but my gamertag was IronKnight it would show my gamertag in Paratheses. Ex: IronNinja (IronKnight)... There is no way to hide your gamertag. If I was to do something stupid and enough people reported me my XB Live acct would be revoked. This feedback system is built into XB Live and I've seen it work.

Finally, Think of the amount of effort to get Linux on an Xbox. It took an MIT student working on his thesis to come up with this. Very unlikely that someone would spend so much time to try to hack; Oh and once he logs on with a modded box he will be booted.

Thank you and goodnight.

This is sorta like the chicken and the egg, you can't do any of the online hacks in PSO with out a modded Xbox, and yet you can't play PSO online with a modded Xbox.

Unless there are some really whacked out, new unkown bugs in the game, it's all urban legend if you ask me.

Mid you, I have been hearing rumors of stealth mod chip bios binaries that can get on live undetected, though......

[EDIT: The only other way I can think of is someone figures out how to get unsigned code running on a non-modded Xbox (ala Action Replay).]

Just because you need to have an XBL account to play the game does not mean you need an XBL account to play online.

I'm not sure how it works, but I do know that you need XBL just to play offline. But you have to pay ST $8.95 to play online. So, who takes care of the servers?

I think if you answer that question, you will find out how secure the game will be online.

Also, it is possible to "turn-off" the mod on an xbox, which means people would still be able to do things offline, and still be able to go online.

But like I said, I'm not sure exactly how it is going to work.

You need an XBL live account to play the game online. Every XB Live enabled game does. The BS excuse ST made up for charging us $9 a month is that there would be consistent updates, add-ons, etc. MS still runs the servers for PSO.

Interesting points of view here... but isn't there another thread this could be posted in? Possibly a sticky should be created in the cheaters (http://www.pso-world.com/viewforum.php?forum=4&11292) thread? Or at least post this topic there?

Just a thought.

Why? So we can have another idiotic post about NOL porn starring Cat-wannabes? It think it's fine here. We're not talking about the cheats really but how the XB Live service works and this is something the populace should know.

A friend of mine who works at Microsoft talked to one of their XBLive reps. He said that and XBL accound will not be required to play offline, but would be required (as with any XBox online game) to play online. Just thought I'd let you know.

the only plausible reason for cheating on xbox pso more than others is because with the xbox harddrive it may be possible to make programs or something like that...thats my guess anyhow...as for if that will be able to happen? I doubt it since xbox has really tight security with the whole banning of xbox serial numbers if a mod chip is found, etc.

anyways just my 2 cents

I just think that people who have modified xbox's will copy the pso character files to their computers drop items online, go offline, copy same file over, go back online and drop the same item. Seems waaaay too easy, but also seems unstopable. Eventually having numerous save files (all the same character) on a PC with tons of the same items. I personally would never get the xbox version ... once you can tap into the hardware that easily the whole game is duped.
