There is one thing I can't find here which really bugged me in PS:P1. Will you be able to give/trade items to other people? Me and my friend was rather stunned when we found out I couldn't give him items in PS:P1 to help him catch up with me.

Allison_W
Oct 29, 2009, 09:02 AM
Only C- and B-ranks. A- and S-ranks are apparently not tradeable. I can understand why--the prevention of duping of rares and stuff--but if you can't drop an item you pick up in the same mission where you picked it up so you can let a friend have a drop that you can't use but they can, that would be really dreadful. :(

Look at it this way, using this new "Final Grind" system, if you have a fully ground B or C Rank that you don't want nor are interested in "final grinding", and someone else is, and even has the necessary means to do so, you can trade them this B or C Rank, effectively trading an S Rank indirectly, since once the target person final grinds it that's what it will become.

I mentioned this to a friend of mine earlier since he didn't even think about it, and I have a feeling not many are realizing it either yet.

I don't think that system is going to be as incredible as it seems at first glance. Its not like you could grind a C rank Rod 10 times, do a Final Grind and bam its a Psycho Wand...
Otherwise why would we ever need to hunt rares when we could just buy C rank junk and grind it.

DarK-SuN
Oct 29, 2009, 06:49 PM
That's how it'll work.
Not necessarily a psycho wand, but it'll be an S Rank, with specific "status effects" that apparently are exclusive to this type of "final grind" system.

I'll give you a PSU example itself: deljabaner to deljabaner+, a B rank to an S rank, with added virus effect and quite a lot more powerful.
I'd say that's completely worth it in my book, and trading with that in mind is perfectly viable.

Edit: Also, you can't do it everytime with every weapon, it was revealed that there's a limit of Final Grinds (or, in fact, "Extend Codes", the item that allows you to do a Final Grind) you can do, so you better use them wisely and with weapons you know you'll want to evolve.

Amherst_Wind
Oct 29, 2009, 07:54 PM
Rod (10) is still a Rod (10) even if its an S rank, with sparkles, a chance to inflict Confusion and higher stats.

Rod (10) =/= Psycho Wand, is what I'm saying. Sure Rod (10) > Rod but its still going to be Rod (10) >>> Psycho Wand in terms of stats, thats not even mentioning the visuals.

DarK-SuN
Oct 30, 2009, 01:53 AM
The stats also increase when they turn into S Rank, so much that if they're level 5 weapons their level requirement is bumped to S Rank requirements (god knows what the number is, could be 50+ or more, depending on the weapon).
So, no, a Rod (10) is still not a Rod (10) even if it's an S Rank, it'll be another weapon, with different stats, S Rank equivalent boosted stats (they didn't say if this new weapon can have grinds applied to it, but I guess we'll find out soon enough).

Its about time.

Did anyone see the latest FunFan thingy? A Red (rare) box drop contained a C-rank weapon -- its about time they distinguished them.

Now, they can take all those cool weapon models they have and allow them to be good. Lets pray this solves the problem of S-ranks truly being the superior rank, instead of grinded A ranks. If you can upgrade a B-rank to an S, then you should be able to upgrade S-rank into God-tier.

Something tells me that C-rank that dropped in the rare box and was subsequently announced to the party had a high percent.

Dunno if I misread it or just haven't seen it:

So the jpn release date will be december 2009....so are there some hints when the US/EU release will be or if there will be an US/EU release at all?

Thanks and my apologies if I can't read. (If it's already mentioned in one of the few topics)

Perhaps it will distribute the drop to everyone like in the first one? Granted the drop is rare.

idk if it has been mentioned somewhere before, but Famitsu gave PSP2 a rating of 34/40, which is.. well, not as good as Monster Hunter =/

i don't remember what rating PSP 1 got, but it'd be kinda weird if it wasn't below 30/40 then, seeing PSP2 has countless improvements over PSP1...

Arika
Nov 26, 2009, 07:32 AM
Famitsu score is no longer reliable. that magazine lately just give 40/40 score to any game that bribe them.

in the past, one or two years can have only single 40/40 score game. but since the start of this year, there already more than 10 games that got 10/10, every game are well promoted game that surely have enough money to give them.
I can see the comments in many forum keep complaining about how famitsu just give score based on popularity nowadays (or actually... money)

Amherst_Wind
Nov 26, 2009, 07:45 AM
I don't usually deride reviews but I saw lately Famitsu gave New Super Mario Bros Wii a perfect score. Now I love that game but it ain't perfect... I'm entirely convinced it got a perfect score simply for being a new side scrolling Mario game. So yeah, I'd be wary of Famitsu scores... its a shame they still have this reputation for being the best reviewers ever in the whole universe... :l

not anymore, a lot of people complain that lately, and now, they are starting to rely on other magazine review, who don't actually give max score so often :p

actually most of the game that got 40/40 from them, doesn't even get 10 from most of website review. eg. gamespot, IGN etc.

I love IGN's reviews but I think Gamestop can be a bit biased towards certain games. Especially the unknown ones sometimes. That's just my opinion.

But I had a question about PS:P2. Can you transfer your character from the first PSP? If so, I'll have a reason to play the 1st one again.

Arika
Dec 2, 2009, 10:03 AM
You can transfer character to PSP2, but no item with or meseta with you.
you have to restart from lv 1 and without any PA too.
what you get is only a title "return guardian" and a weapon "exam saber" and a unit "whitil wing/C"

IGN lost my respect when they panned God Hand because their reviewer sucked too much to play a hard game.

Actually there is one thing I'm a bit curious about, hows the room system in this game? I remember being a bit... let down by the origonal PS:P rooms and was wondering if they're the same, if they're like they were in AOI or are they something new entirely?

Amherst_Wind
Dec 22, 2009, 07:16 PM
Essentially exactly the same as PSU rooms, with the exception of no shop. You can remodel, put up decorations and have people visit / visit other peoples. You can even leave room decos in other peoples rooms, however you cant interact with the other persons vision phone or drop items inside boxes as gifts.

Alright thanks, I get the feelings I will thoroughly enjoy this more than its predecessor. Btw how big is the uh data install or whatever it is, where they save the game on your memorystick and it speeds up loading by loading from both the umd and the memorystick?

Jan 3, 2010, 12:56 AM
dont care what they are trying to prevent, not being able to drop certain items just sucks. How many times in psop did i pick up a pice of clothing i didnt want- but could not get rid of it until i leave the mission and sell in a store? thats fuggin dumb. now you cant trade a-ranks? cmon,. A-rank, though better in the last game, are still overwhelmingly trash. i's rather have a pretty weapon with a rare design than the ugly, generic garbage with a plus on the end of the name and a sparkle. blah.

Jan 4, 2010, 02:27 PM
You can still get rid of items in PSPo2 just fine. If you pick up something, you can either drop it, or worst-case just use the "Throw Away" (捨てる) option, which is guaranteed to work in almost all cases.

And if you don't want to get rid of it, you can send it to your bank remotely as well, even during a mission.

Don't think I've ever seen that option before myself. Which menu can you access that from?

A curious question btw. I was reading the first page of the thread idly, and came across a mention that you can hold up to 3 scape dolls. Now up till now, I've only been able to hold 1 scape doll at a time (which sucks when I have 2 dolls drop within a mission). Is this true, and if it is, how do I do this?

no only 1 and if you have a scape drop its good to send the one in your inventory to storage then pick the scape up.

Scapedoll will be found as rare from mission only, and limit to hold only 3 scapedoll at a time.

Might want to change this entry on the front page then. Made me pretty confused. Arika, could you confirm if this is correct or not?

Also, my first question still stands. How can I send things from my battle inventory to my storage while on a mission? Is there an option in the character menu or a special terminal placed within the stage I've never noticed before?

So does anyone know if we can battle each other with are own levels and use beast tranformations and SUV blast on each other?

And if we really can trade low rank stuff then how?

Do we go somewhere or just drop it?

Or like Monster Hunter does it not allow us to trade weps and armor?

This is coming from someone who has the Japanese version of PSP2.

You can buy Scape Dolls, actually, from the Raffon Meadow item exchange shop. Also, Scape Dolls aren't so rare on A-S Rank missions...anyways, it's 5 Weapon Badges of any kind for a Scape Doll.

For Battle, I haven't tried it but I'm fairly certain there are different modes for it, kinda like PSO:Ep. I & II.

There's an item trader thing in Clad 6 (is that the right English translation?) Cafe. I assume that's where you trade stuff. It seems inactive in Story mode, though.

BTW, who else has PSP2 in Japanese here?
