This thing supposedly stood in the air for 2 hours, and it was homemade. I honestly laughed at first until I realized that the kid is missing, and possibly dead. I still want to make one of my own that's big enough to carry people in though.

Commander Keen?

If they find him and he's wearing a giant watch that can play pong, and the other hand is holding a soda, I'll just have to laugh.

I do hope they find him alive, though. (But it'll be better with that pong-playing watch and soda can).

Kind of funny how (in the 80s) the videogaming or television-playing watches kind of flopped. Nowadays, we have phones that could do both and then some. Apparently, watches are still just reserved to tell time. People like to play with both hands on a system, not just one.

Supposedly they found him, not sure about that. No reliable source.

Also.

[spoiler-box]Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flown past the speed of sound
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I flew in a balloon filled with hot air.

In... west Colorado born and raised
in the backyard is where I spent most of my days
soarin and swoopin and bein all cool
and flyin a balloon instead of bein in school
when a couple of tethers
they where up to no good
made me fly way up out my neighborhood
I went on one little flight and my brother got scared
and said "My bros in that basket way up in the air"

So.. whistled for a chopper and when it came near
The side said 'Channel 9' and it had guys in there
If anything I could say that this situation was rare,
but I thought ' ah forget it, jump out, no care.'

I landed on the ground at quite a high rate
and yelled to the news crew "yo homes, find me later"
and at long last, I was finally there,
to relinquish my basket as the king of hot air.[/spoiler-box]

So apparently the parents are recurring reality show contestants (mom swap, or something), and the little boy said that he hid in the attic to be on "the show". His father believes that he has found real evidence of martian ruins in Texas, or something crazy like that. So, even though i'm glad the little boy was found, it seems to me that this is just a huge scam for these people to get themselves on TV again.

They are just kids.

Something like that happened to me once. Except there were no Mylar balloons involved.

The parents are too happy to see their kid is okay, and don't want to punish them.

What they did was wrong, no doubt about it, but when you were a kid I'm sure that you once felt so bad that you hid from your parents.

I knew that they should just shoot it down...

Well, at least that should teach kids to stay away from balloons... at least for a while.

Niered

Well its not even the kids fault. The family has been going around to producers pitching some ridiculous reality TV show, and during an interview with Wolf Blitzer the dad asked the kid why he didnt come out when they heard him yelling his name, and the kid said "I thought we did it for the show". And then theirs the newly released footage of the balloon taking off, and its obvious the kid is nowhere near it.

So at this point, feel bad for the kids, cuz theyre just being whored out like Jon and Kates or even Octomom's.

Hopefully the family will get the same treatment the "Runaway bride" from a few years back did, the police forced her to foot the bill for the search, and I think this family deserves the same, plus losing custody of their kids for awhile.

It's seriously disgusting what greedy parents are capable of.

READ THIS! Apparently there is justice, because it sounds like the family is probably going to get a few charges, unfortunately just misdemeanors at this point, but I really am happy this guy is getting stuck with the charges. Poor kid threw up during two seperate interviews because he was so nervous.

Only $50 worth of pizza? ...4chan is losing its touch! Anyway, the mom and dad are two of the biggest attention whores I've ever seen. I watched one of their Wife Swap episodes the other day, and they were trying way too hard to be weird. It was sad.

Indeed. I never cringed so much in my life. It wasn't even entertainment. More like "Akward Moments For One Hour!"

Looks like they're gonna press charges on the parents for basically lying to everyone about setting this up.

Man, the things people do to get on TV these days.
