View Full Version : Some PSZ general questions

Hey guys, I'm working on making a PSZ thread on another forum and I've got a couple of questions.

1. I've seen gameplay videos where Rangers get down on one knee to fire a ranged weapon. Are Rangers the only classes that do that? And what effect does that have?

2. Photon Arts are randomly tied to weapons, correct? Can Force weapons such as Wands and Rods have Photon Arts tied to them? Ranged weapons can have Photon Arts, right?

3. About how long is the story mode? Is like 10 hours or more? Can you replay missions in the story mode after you finish it?

4. What are the difficulty levels in the game? There are modes that are harder than Normal, right?

5. What's the character level cap in the game? And what's the Technique level cap?

6. Can story mode be replayed on a harder difficulty with the same character you used before?

If anyone can answer these questions, I'd be extremely thankful. I'm gonna have a lot of people asking about this stuff so I want to find out as much as I can. I'm really looking forward to the game and I hope you guys are, too!

1.) It's just the animation, to look cool. And I believe only for Rifles [realism]. For Handguns, they fire it in the typical standing stance. [One arm extended, one bent holding the pistol. One leg slightly in front of the other.]

2.) Yes. All types of weapons have [i think] one of 3 possible Photo Artes tied to them. Certainly high-level weapons have a certain bonus too, like to Magic or MST Stat.

3.) Don't know this one.

4.) Normal. Hard. Super Hard.

5.) 100 Character Cap. Tech I want to say 20?

6.) Yes.

2. Yes, every weapon type can have photon arts. This means not all weapons have Photon Arts, but different weapons in the same category may have different Photon Arts (i.e. one sword may have Photon Art A, while another sword has Photon Art B).
Here's a pretty good list:

http://psupedia.info/PS0:Weapons

4. From what I've read it's Normal, Hard, and (Super) Hard (the () is because on the PSUpedia it says S.H. "Mission Title" so I suppose that's supposed to stand for Super Hard; correct me if I'm wrong).

5. Level 100. Techniques go up to 15, but not every class can use up to level 15 techniques (Hunters, for example, can only get up to like level 10 Resta or something. I saw a chart somewhere I'll try and look up). Only Forces can use every technique up to 15.

The rest idk haha. I'll see if I can find that chart; it was on some japanese website.

EDIT:

Success! It's translated from Japanese so the names of the spells are a little goofy, but it's good info. Just scroll down a tiny bit and you'll see the chart on what level each class can use each spell.

Thanks for response so far, guys.

And why the attitude, kirtblue? I'm sorry I didn't feel like scouring 20 unique threads. I don't have all the time in the world. I wouldn't have to create a new thread if the PSO World forums weren't a mess half the time.

PSUpedia doesn't have the information I'm looking for. Why do you think I made a thread here, kirtblue? And ignore my post count, I registered here years ago during the PSO era but I've only just recently started posting on PSOW's forums. I spend most of my time on NeoGAF.

Anyway, I have two final questions. Hopefully, someone will be kind enough to answer it. It's about the player stats. I've been reading the Classes page on PSUpedia and I've noticed that the writer mentions 'technic power' and 'TP' a lot.

Am I correct in assuming that 'technic power' is actually MST? And what does 'TP' mean? I thought it meant 'Technique Points' but doesn't PSZ use 'Photon Points' instead?

Those are my final questions. And just in case, I'm going to look into the top 5 or so threads in this forum and see if I can find an answer. But I would still appreciate a direct, courteous response. Thanks again.

Technic Power could mean MST while TP may just mean Technic Points (MP).

Also for further notice, post count means jack. I have been here for a few months and look at that mofo. I'm a chatty lil bitch. So wise up and behave everyone. Damn.

Shoulda put this in the brackets but I was too lazy to emphasize. TP is PSZ's version of MP.

MP = generic game's Magic Points.

Mana, etc.

So the TP stat is the stat that calculates how much PP your character has?

There is no more PP I believe. TP or Technique Points now works for both Spells & Photon Artes.

Alright, then switch my statement around. Replace TP with PP.

There's no more TP, and PP now consists of Spells & Photon Artes.

Okay, lemme try to explain this.

TP is Technique Power in this game (which is basically the equivalent of MST), not Technique points. This is because Technique Points have been replaced with Photon Points because Technique Points imply only people capable of using techniques can have TP, whereas PP can b e used by anyone including CAST's. CAST's still cant use techniques, but they can use their PP to pull of Photon Arts.

Okay, I understand that. But then why does the weapons page on PSUpedia mention MST for Force weapons?

http://www.psupedia.info/PS0:Weapons

And I'm asking because I'm trying to make sense of the info on the classes page on PSUpedia.

http://www.psupedia.info/PS0:Classes

The writer sometimes mentions 'tech power' and 'TP' in the same sentence as if they are indeed different stats. I thought he/she meant MST whenever 'tech power' was written but now I'm being told MST has been replaced by TP and the old TP is now PP. That's why I'm confused! :-?

Well goes to show I really haven't gotten to the meat of the game. But eh, I was close!

Im pretty sure that when the author says MST for the weapons they really mean TP.

And in the classes section thats definitely wrong because one of the classes is described as having "TP Regeneration", which is obviously wrong.

basically, it sounds like PSUpedia has something a of a mix up with nomenclature.

Here is one I wanted to ask, does PSZ have quick weapon switching or do I have to manually go into my menu and equip the different weapon?

So it would be safe to assume that whenever the writer writes Tech Power, it's TP and whenever he/she mentions TP it's actually Photon Points (PP), right?

That would answer my questions.

Alright I looked at everything and logically came to this conclusion:

From the line "Beyond having the highest TP in the game (for FOmarl)" we can figure out that when they say TP it is the equivalent of Photon Points (or PP) because if you look at level 100 stats ( http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://pszero.wikiwiki.jp/%3F%25A5%25B9%25A5%25C6%25A1%25BC%25A5%25BF%25A5%2 5B9&ei=yXrzSo_fNYLf8Qb9-uTYAQ&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CAgQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3D%25E2%2580%25BB%25E8%2581%25B7%25E6%2 5A5%25AD%25E7%2595%25A5%25E7%25A7%25B0%25E3%2581%2 5AB%25E3%2581%25A4%25E3%2581%2584%25E3%2581%25A6%2 5E3%2581%25AF%25E3%2583%259A%25E3%2583%25BC%25E3%2 582%25B8%25E5%25B9%2585%25E4%25B8%258A%25E7%2595%2 5A5%25E7%25A7%25B0%25E3%2582%2592%25E4%25BD%25BF%2 5E7%2594%25A8%25E3%2581%2597%25E3%2581%25A6%25E3%2 581%2584%25E3%2581%25BE%25E3%2581%2599%25E3%2580%2 582%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26hs%3Da2D ), you notice that the highest number in the PP row is in the Fml section (FOmarl).

The mentioning of the TP regeneration makes sense then, as Newmans get this as a racial bonus (similar to CASTs getting an HP regen).

Finally, there is MST on Force weapons because, well, they obviously focus on that stat. Instead of having, say, +ATP (as on a saber) or +DFP (as on a shield), it has MST as a stat because Forces use that to do more damage. "Wand - a single handed weapon that can boost the user's handling of photons, and thereby the power of their techniques." (from the english PS0 site: http://www.sega.com/ps0/game/weapons/page2.php#wand ).

Hope that cleared it up lol

EDIT:

As for your second question... idk haha sorry. I read somewhere that you lose, like, 10 sync points from your MAG (the points that charge it up to do the Photon Blast), but I really don't know.

AND a better example of why MST is on Force weapons is, "Primarily, however, it is most suited for strengthening the power of techniques" on the same link.
