View Full Version : Item hunters/hunting

Java378
Nov 6, 2009, 07:31 PM
If anyone remembers in .hack, the mmorpg series there was a player style called Item hunters. They looked for rare items.

In PSO, we start with 30 slots and earn up to 60 slots.

So, is anyone here an item hunter? And do you feel that the abundance of meseta in the game(as in Japan's game servers) may make the items not as rare to you?

In short, how do you feel about collecting items in PS0?

I doubt JP/NA/Europe servers will be linked.

Anything with value will quickly lose it due to hackers dropping duped rares for free in random games.

EDIT: Forgot to answer the question, I love farming rares in PS games, can't wait to farm red boxes in Zero!

Yes, but their is a catch to hacked rares.

They have no Photon Arts. Apparently noone has been able to do anything about that, so a hacked rare will always be a hacked rare, it will never have a PA, and it will never be as good.

Plus, hell, i plan on only playing with friends, family, and people from this board. No need to worry then.

They aren't interlinked? Wow, that really perks me up. Now I may be the first to get new rares.

Hacker's dupes are not so good or valuable due to incomplete programming as discussed in earlier threads. Without these specials, the item can easily be discerned form real or fake unless the original item had no special move. Also, not many hackers or not yet due to MW2 for Xbox360.

The thing I like about PSZ's drop system is that everyone gets different drops, no more ninja looters when playing with random people at least.

Not EXACTLY like PSO boxes. PSO boxes were more horizontal than those. But meseta is the same.

i couldnt agree more i always hated playing with bastards that did thisWorst was in PSO on Dreamcast, you'd drop your weapon/meseta on the floor when you died, almost all the times people would steal your stuff and run off with it. (Random people once again not friends.)

Pro-tip: Don't play PS games with random peoples.

Im joking! I never got the chance to play PSO online, anyway. My nephew was a looter though..... I had to threaten him in reality to make him drop what he had taken from me while I was AFK. Little jerk.....

There was this one time I was playing Dark Falz with a buncha randoms. I die, and drop my Varista (first rare I had a use for) I start yelling for noone to steal it, next thing that happens, some random guy picks it up and drops out of the game.

Looking back I chuckle, since Varista's suck. But still, that was not fun.

I only had this happen to me once on DC PSO, and figures it was one of the few times I left the game room open.

I was on my RAcaseal in V. Hard Forest just messing around with a low lvl handgun that dropped from a Boomba just because I was bored. When I was about to fight the dragon a RAmarl joins my game and asks for a telepipe; I drop one down and welcome him. The moment he appears he PKs my character and picks up the low lvl gun I was messing around with. I said "So...you killed me and got a 3 star gun, how do you feel?" His response was just "..." and he left. I bet he wasn't very happy, and I couldn't help but laugh at how much of a fool he must of felt like.

If you've never played G.U., Haseo actually has 3 or 4 weapons: Twin Daggers, Giant Swords, Scythes, and I think he gets another, but I don't remember. You do get 2 scythes in PSZ, but they are Force weapons. One can be used by anybody, the other is force only.

...why?

The premade responses can be perfectly translated into ANY language they could ever possibly want to translate the game into. Spanish? The premade responses can be translated into that. French? Yes. Mandinka? Sure, why not. If anything, there is more reason for them to NOT allow you to connect with people in your own country. Diversity!

Its not hard at all actually, its much simpler than separating them in fact. The game doesnt have multiple languages per region its released in so premade chat 1 that says "Thanks!" in english would still be interpreted by a Spanish version PSZ as premade chat 1, with the difference being that the game displays it as "Gracias!"

I see that I misunderstood your post. No, they won't translate into extremely obscure languages, but I would assume most of the predominate European and important Asian languages will get a translation provided it is popular enough.

I thought you meant "why would they allow different countries to access each other, it would be too much work to translate the premade response menu."

And no, I would assume that it would be easier to have each country access the same server.
