View Full Version : Rangers - Is their damage based on ATA or ATP?

I've read alot of things on the GameFAQs forum, and yes, I already know that's a problem in itself.

Either way, it has be a bit worried. Many a people there have said that a Rangers damage is calculated on their ATA, meaning the RAmar does the least damage.

But if my memory recalls correctly, in PSO Rangers' damage was based on ATP, and ATA was only for accuracy.

---

What's the Rangers' stat for damage in PSZ? ATA or ATP?

ATP determines how much damage they do, so how hard you can press the trigger.

Alright. On the forums they also said that ATP only affected Melee Damage. So, I got a bit worried.

Nah, the only change that they did on damage that a weapon does is Force weapons, they increase and do damage based on MST. All else is pretty much the same.

Ranged weapons do damage based, depending on what kind of ranged weapon it is, on ATA in PSP2 now. It's likely some of that information tainted the source of whoever was giving you information on GFs.

Awesome. Thanks guys.

So having all of my Material be Power is still a good idea for Rangers waiting a huge damage boost then?

Pretty sure Power Ranger (*cough*) works fine, that's the build i'm using in PSOBB, just make sure you got enough ATA to use good guns though.

EDIT: I think ATA is easier to get this time around, am I mistaken? I think I read this in another thread.

ATP determines how much damage they do, so how hard you can press the trigger.

They half-explained this in PSO by saying that guns used the wielders "spirit" or "power" as a battery of sorts.

Yeah, its a bit lame of a reason, but I actually prefer that ATP determine even a guns damage. Have ATA be a be-all-end-all stat for rangers, or having any stat be too good for one character or another is annoying to me.

Of course, you could look at ATP as less of a raw, physical strength stat, and more of a characters learned ability over time to know just HOW to do more damage. This way it makes a bit more sense. It is called Attack Power and strength after all.

So you are worried that humans are second rated rangers based on damage output? and that is new since when? ^^

I know they're second-rate damage anyway compared to CASTs.

But I want to know if I should bother pumping up ATK via MAG & Mat's if it isn't going to boost my damage.

And not to be one of those Stat-obsessive kids.

RANGER: Mar - Marl - Cast - Caseal
HP: 595 581 775 754
PP: 449 466 397 418
ATP: 337 324 396 369
DFP: 180 174 207 201
ATA: 323 338 342 357
EVP: 264 276 168 180
MST: 288 301 257 275

But if it is based on ATA, then the RAmar is the worst of the 4. And that makes me a sad panda.

I always looked at ranged weapon user accuracy as how well they could target an object's "weak spot" to justify in some games that those weapons depend on a single stat not pertaining to ATK. *shrugs*

Like in disgaea, guns only depend on the hit stat.

You could always fix that with materials. As for the ATP thing for attack power on guns I say it's "Mind" ATP. You know, with the power of the mind you can transform normal bullets into "MIND BULLETS" and kill yaks from miles away! Use your "MIND BULLETS" to open cans of beer! The possibilities are endless! Also it's Billy Mayes guarunteed!

Now I can see why people have said Forces are overpowered.

Its not so bad haveing ATP as the damage stat for guns. Rangers can build there MAG and there self with more power can they can use both gun and striking weapons well.

Oh no no, i'm actually glad it's based off of ATP. There isn't any ATA Materials, so I'd be a little peeved if my only way of boosting damage was by my MAG. :3

Very true. It makes the human choice more enticing since they get the extra 20 points of modification. In a way, simply giving them a little more choice as to how they want to adjust their points.

So wait... you would be sad if RAmarl was weakest of the four damage wise due to ATA...

When they're weakest of the four anyway when you use ATP...

Did I miss something? Other than all that stuff about there being ATP Mats and such.

You shouldn't care so much about stats in PS games I say. :P

Pretty sure everyone ends up overpowered too in PSZ.

I'm like 60/40 for the RAmar. I have an easier [and less creeped out] time thinking up a storyline, motivation, etc for a male character than a female one.

But the RAmarl's are just too cute. And a girl in an adorable outfit with a .50 cal SR? Beyond Hot.

XD I love the way you think, but I must say I prefer the long haired HUmarl. Really planned to make a HUnewm for the first char.. but she's really pushing it!

After comparing between them... I gotta say. The RAmar just looks way too Firefly-esque to pass up on.

Wild West Sci Fi Cowboy = <3

RAmarl: http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=2594

I'd love to see their separate animations before making the decision... but the RAmar. Red Outfit. Cowoby Hat. SCARF.
