As a RAmarl:

Palette 1:

Y: Evasion
B: Heavy attack
A: Normal attack

Palette 2:

Y: Zalure
B: Fluids
A: Resta

That serves me pretty well :)
I should switch out the Fluids for another Tech really seeing as I can just use the Item pack key shortcut but meh...

As a Hunewearl

Palette 1:

Y: Heavy Attack
B: Evasion Roll
A: Normal Attack

Palette 2:

Y: Difluid
B: Resta
A: Shifta

So far, this combo has worked very well.
Attack and support in a decent mix, but...
Deband seems kinda useless so far.
Also, Shifta´s duration is lacking ( currently lv 7 and like 30 sec ?) and might improve later on.
I hope cause that is just annoying, specially if you are trying co-op. >.>

Since my palette shifts, constantly. I'll try to put up a general use one I use on my FOmar.

Palette 1:
Y: Main Attack Technique
B: Evasion
A: Normal Attack

Palette 2:
Y: (Secondary Attack Technique/Main Buff or Debuff depending on who's using what)
B: Resta
A: (Anti/Secondary Buff/Debuff/PP replenishing-fluid)

Obviously, the responsibilities for a full tech-load must be shared among party members.

HUcast

Palette 1:

Y: attack
B: barrel roll
A: heavy attack

Palette 2:

Y: Dimate
B: Heal Trap (Star Atomizer if i am soloing... stupid npc don't heal. every now and then they do group heal which helps sometimes)
A: Monomate

I had the default buttons with heavy and light attack switched but after 30 minutes of playing my hand started to hurt because the controls are not to comfortable and pressing the A button hurts.

I so miss the x-box days of switching weapons on the fly. I remember playing with a group of friends and they where laughing when i played because i had a weapon for everything with my melee char. If there where more then 2 guys standing next to each other i took out my sword for multi hit; if the guy was too far away i took out the rifle; not so far got the mech guys; and for solo i had a single target sword. I switched between the 4 so easy. I know that they have a short cut with the L+Start, but it only brings you to the equipment screen you then have to click onto you weapon and then find your weapon somewhere in there (haven't noticed a way to change order like PSO had).

FOnewearl

Palette 1:

Y: Foie
B: Zonde (Special note on these two first buttons, elements change depending on the Area)
A: Resta

Palette 2:

Y: Shifta
B: Deband
A: Anti

Only time palette 2 changes is if someone else is covering those buffs or one of them. Last night I played a game with Pensive and we had a great thing going. She casted Deband, so I did Shifta; then she covered Jellen while I did Zalure. Sadly from my play style I can never have the dodge roll on all the time, unless it's a boss fight then I just go in with one element. Worked for all but the final boss, where I have to switch to Grants for my element during the second part of the fight. For fluids I just use the L+Start method and NEVER have any of the mates so I can access the fuilds that much faster.

I'm only a few missions into hard mode, but here's what seems to work most of the time:

FOnewm

Pallet 1:

Y: Foie
B: Roll
A: Regular Attack

Pallet 2:

Y: Zonde / Barta
B: Fluid
A: Resta

During boss fights, I'll put only one attack spell on, and put Anti in its place. I'm considering removing the Fluid, and putting Anti (or Shifta, when I finally find a disc for it) in its place.

Do you guys who use L + Start to access fluids and mates find it pretty quick to do? Because if it can be used fine even when you're in a pinch, that's free up a space for my HUnewm to use 2 different buffing/ debuffing techs in his 2nd palette.

I never tried that way. I take the long way to the item menu for things like that.
