How do you lvl up the element on a weapon?

I have this experience granting element, and I'd like to level it up to speed the leveling process for me, up until my techs finally outpower my melee that is.

You can equip an element boost unit to raise the level by 1, more then one unit won't stack.

Alternatively you can find a weapon with a higher level element and then change that weapons element to what you want and the level will be retained.

do the mayors first quest (the dragon one) and you get the watering can gun.

just pop some grinders on it and its lethal, it also has X element so it drains XP and does so quite often
