Soul Eater query

So, I'm doing the quests to get the Soul Eater and when I get to the Waterfall Tears quest, the Black Hound isn't there. Is this because I'm playing on the gc, I've already done all of the quests (redoing them right now on normal), or is it because I'm not on the right difficulty?

Difficulty doesn't matter... but it all has to be done on the same difficulty. Only reasons I can think of as to why he's not appearing are
1. You told SUE your name in Dr. Osto's research (redoing the mission and not giving your name won't help as the first answer is the only one). In this case you would have to do it on another character.
2. You may not be going far enough in. It's further north IIRC. Look at the map, if he's up ahead you'll be able to see his arrow/marker.

I believe that I told her my name the first time. That would be the reason. Thanks for the help.

You can do it on another character on normal, or wait till hard mode and do it on your current character.

Though if you have pso+ you can have a little fun with an episode 2 quest since you told sue your name ;D

Hm, I have plus but I'm not aware of anything like that. What can you do if you tell Sue your name?

Yeah, I have plus as well. What happens because I told her my name, Meyfei (or anybody else who knows)? I've done the quest on normal, but haven't gotten around to doing it on any of the other difficulties.

if you tell sue your name follow this guide. its useful to do for ultimate hunts in episode 2 towers... very very useful in my opinion

[spoiler-box] Sue Subplot additions for online quest: Seat of the Heart (Ragol Ring)
If you told Sue your name, doing the proper steps will get Kireek to accompany you in this quest through Control Tower. Doing so is a prerequisite in acquiring the Ragol Ring.

Steps:

Beat all VR Temple, Spaceship and CCA. Make sure to kill Gal Grphon. Do it all in one difficulty.
Beat the followng quests on the same difficulty: Battle Training, Magnitude of Metal, Claiming a Stake, Addicting Food, Lost Bride, Secret Delivery, Grave's Butler, Knowing One's Heart, Dr Ostos's Research, Unsealed Door, Waterfall Tears and Black Paper.
You have to tell Sue your name the first time you play Dr. Osto's Research for Kireek to show up in Seat of the heart. Tell her your name at the end of the quest.
You cannot get Kireek in Seat of the Heart if you have opened all the quests and then re-played for the Sue sub-plot. You must meet the Sue plot requirements as you play through the quests for the first time. Almost all players that can't get rings have unlocked all the quests before doing the Sue plot.
In Unsealed door, find Sue in Mines 2 and talk to her. Now go back and find Bernie and talk to him
In Waterfall Tears, find Sue on Pioneer 2 and talk to her about Black Paper. Then find Bernie in Caves 1.
In Black Paper, find Sue on Pioneer 2 and talk to her. Ask her what her purpose is. Now find Bernie again in Caves 1 and talk to him.
Notes:

You must talk to Bernie in any quest you play that he appears in.
If you play a quest with Bernie in it and don't talk to him until he has nothing else to say, then Kireek won't appear. The one thing most players seem to miss is Retired Hunter (he's by the warp to the principal after you finish the quest). You don't have to play this quest, but if you do you must talk to Bernie.
You must talk to any NPC required by the Sue plot until they disappear or repeat themselves. If you don't Kireek will not appear.
Remember to talk to each character until they won't talk anymore or will not say anything new to make sure to get the full storyline.
Sue and Kireek will now appear in Seat of the Heart.
