When you enter a party, do they see your PSN ID or your character name? I'm one of those "I despise my ID and don't want other people to know me by it" sort of person. :-P Are they exposed to it at any point?

If the person has the game set to do so, your PSN account name will appear over your head. So yes, other people can see it if they wish.

How do you set it to display anything over character's heads? I hate not being able to figure out who's who.

It's in the settings menu. The option is greyed out during single play but is active during multiplay.
