We've had this exact discussion here before and while we came up with lots of good theories no one could find the actual answer to this question.

Never did come to a definite conclusion, maybe it's something the world will never know.

I've definitely noticed this and tried to figure it out. If we want to be serious about this though, we should compile a before/after comparison on all weapons we tek and then write whether it makes the sound. Someone then might figure out the correlation.

Edit: more theories: http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102391

The chime means that you got the best possible tekk out of the base weapon.

this guide explains it all. http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=851

good luck with the tekking!! =)

That's actually already been ruled out by a bunch of people.
