a typical collections thread.

i wonder who has the biggest collection of games ;)

I've got a pretty big collection of games, but that's about it.

I have some games and anime related figures, and a fairly large origami farm (stress reliever). My largest collection by far is video games though. My PC games collection is probably around 700. I stopped keeping track years ago. Console games is around 250.

The most amount of Console based games I've ever owned in one time would have to be about, 8-10 splitting between Game Cube and Playstation2.

Large collections of games, mostly PC with a proud row of Xbox 360 games on one shelf. There are also at least 3 PS2 games. Out of those games, the only noticable "series" would be a collection of Command & Conquer RTS games(original Red Alert to most recent ones with exception of Uprising) , Star Wars spaceship simulators (from "Rouge Squadron" and "X-wing" to "X-wing Alliance"), Homeworld 1 & 2 and two games from Armored Core series.

I also used to collect some models when I was young, though I never got around to finish most of them. The most prominent of those was Leopard tank and MiG-29. I did finish Porsche 911 model tough, but it got lost. The other model/toy would be a Testrossa. No, not Fate, but black Ferrari Testarossa model.

Other things I collect are soundtracks from movies I enjoyed.

I also keep numerous trinkets, among which there is a German knight figure, Dragon figure and snail made from copper or something similar. There's also a hand-made Japanese paper-fan.

I probably have a ton of old games for Gameboy and Gamegear and shit, but I haven't seen any of them in forever so I don't think I could really call it a "collection." I have a lot of CDs (probably close to 100+) but no dedicated CD player. I also have quite a few books scattered around, but no real system of organization or tracking for them.

I guess when it comes down to it I'm not so big on collecting, but very big into losing collectible things.

Edit: I guess I actually sort of collect posters, now that I think about it. Between my bedroom in my parents house and my apartment, I have three of David Bowie (one is a Labyrinth movie poster), one of Iggy Pop, A Flaming Lips, a White Stripes, a Brady Bunch in which Mike Brady is mysteriously absent, one of dredg, Rosie the WWII "we can do it!" babe, two of Speed Racer, a Kill Bill vol. 1, a Garbage (the band), and assorted awesome pieces of crap from Nintendo Power (although those aren't hung up anywhere).

Oh, I know. I'm actually pretty tame for a tf collector. There's some guys in my area with full light up display cases, complete G1 '84 collections...so on and so forth.

I just got back into collecting them about 5 years ago, so my collection pretty much consists of stuff that I like that's come out in the US in that time period, and some JP releases that I can afford. It's by no means an inexpensive hobby, but I try to get what I like.

I've been bad this year though...those pics were from when I first moved into my new apt back in '08. I've kinda doubled the collection in that time period :D I'll post some new pics eventually if I get around to it.

I don't have any collections, per se, rather it is a bunch of crap that I never bothered to through out for sentimental reasons. It includes video games, action figures, pokemon and yu-gi-oh cards, books, dictionaries, decks of playing cards, comics, lego brick and technic pieces, game systems, stuffed animals, and even my car's old head light. And by no means am I a hoarder; I've thrown out plenty of stuff, there are just some things that I just can't part with due to the memories associated with them.

I think you guys already saw my Yugioh collection (http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2425242&postcount=30) and my plastic bitches/Nintendo Power bookcase, (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j194/tetsaru/100_0137.jpg) but I've also got a shitload of Legos at my grandma's house (don't have any pictures of em, unfortunately). I loved those things as a kid... even now, when I visit my grandma, I'll get them out of the shed, dump em in the floor, and build all sorts of stuff.

I used to have a ton of old video games too, but unfortunately I ended up trading/selling off a lot of them for new ones, especially with remakes and roms out there. I think I had 20 N64 games at one point, but I can't say for sure now.

I've also been collecting a lot of various coins, mostly the new US quarters and stuff from my older relatives.

I may try to get some more pictures of my Yugioh cards later on and post em here, most likely more from my "show-off binder" and my decks. I'm always having to organize a lot of things whenever I get something new... @_@

I have a ridiculous amount of wargames stuff (Warhammer 40,000). I've been an 'on and off' collector since about 1998. It's very rare I get to play the game anymore, so I collect mainly for the artistic side (both the collections of artwork in the books, and assembling/converting/painting models).

One hell of an expensive hobby though, especially if you buy the specialist resin kits from Forge World (which run into hundred of pounds sometimes, the most expensive being a dropship that's £895- no I haven't got one). Most I've spent at Forge World is about £95, so I'm relatively constrained compared to some people in the hobby. Since '98 I've probably spent in excess of £1000 easily, but I buy a lot of the stuff from independent retailers so I get decent discounts.

Yes, it's a geeky hobby but I really don't care. I enjoy the creative side of it, and it's nice to get out sometimes and meet other like-minded people with more disposable income than sense.

No pictures currently as I lack a digital camera.

Secondly, I have a collection of Final Fantasy miniatures, notably the 'summon' creatures. I have Diablos/Cerberus at large scale from FF8, Bahamut at small scale, FF7's Bahamut ZERO/FFIX's Death Gaze at small scale, FFX's Magus Sisters at small scale and FFX/X-2's Dark Aeon figures (Dark Yojimbo and SDark Bahamut) at large scale.

When I was a lot younger, I collected Pokémon cards (when it was the 'in craze' at school), and moved onto Yu-Gi-Oh! cards (again, following a craze). I've kept the cards incase they're worth anything in the future (unlikely, but whatever), but I'm glad to be out of that hobby. It's even more a waste of money than what I do now

Comic books, more specifically X-Men comics, that's my main thing. I've been a reading comics ever since I was about 5 years old and I became a hardcore ( X-Men ) comic collector shortly after X-Men #20 came out back in the early 1990's. In recent years I stated missing certain issues since my local comic book store is never properly stsocked ( which really annoys me since I hate missing stuff and it's a fucking pain in the ass trying to keep track of what I am missing from my collection and then tracking down a copy online or when I am in vacation in the US ).

I've also started buying more non X-Men and non mutant related comics recently, it's not uncommon for me to spend about €40.00 on comics per week.

I also collect Alot of DVD's.

My Anime collection is becoming quite extensive and takes up whole entire book case.

Then there's my obssession with asian cinema in general, now-a-days I only buy 1 or 2 asian films a year but about 5 years ago I was mad into this stuff, I own about 20 to 30 asian films.

I've also stated collecting alot TV show Boxsets in recent years, it all began with the show Lost and has grown from there. Right now I'm into about 5 main shows but there are at least another 10 that I am in the process of collecting, that does not include the shows that I already own everything for ( recently got into Battlestar Gallactica, fucking awesome show, shame I never watched it on tv ).

To make matters worse, I've begun replacing alot of my dvd's with Blu-ray's. It's really annoying buying a film you already own.

I also have a fairly decent games collection. I own a SNES, 2 PS2's ( a Eu because I live in Europe and a US one that I could play PS2 games like the Xenosaga games and PS1 games like Xenogears, Lunar: Silver Star Story, Lunar: Eternal Blue and FF Tactics ), 2 Gamecubes ( once again, 1 is a Eu console and the other is US ), a Wii, a X-Box 360, a PS3, a Gameboy color, a DS, a Ds Lite and a PS3 and full compliment of games for each console as well as alot of old PS1 games that I still hang on to for nostaligia reasons.

I also went though a brief phase ( that's over for now due to finacial reasons as well as a lack of space ) where I collected Gundam model kit's ( 1/100 scale ), Evagellion figures and Valkyrie's from the Macross universe.

I collect dust.
In the distant past, I have collected such diverse things as Hot Wheels cars, rocks and minerals (I think I still have a sulfur crystal around here somewhere, because I could never let go something that smells so vile) and seashells, stuffed animals (the non-taxidermic kind, though I could definitely go for a little flying squirrel (http://www.customcreaturetaxidermy.com/novelties/novelties_2gg.html)--it's a conversation piece), pogs, and ob/noxious YA historical fiction. My days of obsessive acquisition, as you might guess from this list, are long over, and I'd rather accumulate negatively... if my inborn laziness vis-a-vis materials management--a.k.a. decluttering--did not operate in contradiction.

Now I collect browser tabs and make lists of things read and to be read (I've learned to bypass the collection of actual books and decollection of legal tender by embracing libraries). I do tend to amass image files, however, including untold gigabytes of unfinished paintings and archives of great google image searches (I am of the belief that one can never have too many photos of clouds or strange sea creatures).

Think 70 games is bad? I visited my dad recently and he was showing me his place, Enter the game room and he has about 100+ Ps2 games and about 30 PS3 games. The plus side is PS2 games are super cheap. Once again, I'll get some pics of all this with my camera starting with my games :D

pogs
Pogs! I went pog crazy one summer. I've still got them in various cases somewhere in my closet at home. Not the real pogs though, but the commercial ones. I've got a few real milk caps in my collection though.

Video games is what I collect now. Most of my collection is at my parent's house though. I don't have the room to house everything I have where I live now. I've got lots of games, a few really rare ones, even a few oddities. I meant to catalog them all before I moved out but I never got around to it. If I can get home this summer, I will.

You should consider waiting on some of those games instead of buying them right off the bat. I just can't imagine there are 70 games on the 360 worth buying at full price.

I've become the de facto librarian of all the games between my brothers and I, and we have somewhere around 500-600 games across consoles and handhelds. (That's an estimate - we had ~500 when I last did a count about a year or two ago, so I'm guessing it's somewhere between 500 and 600 now.)

Definitely don't think we have anywhere near 70 games on any systems though. Maybe for the GBA or DS, but I don't think so.

I've never really bothered keeping a hard count of our PC games - there are so many freeware & indie games floating around on various hard drives that it starts to become a meaningless exercise. If I had to guess, though, it probably wouldn't be much more than 100 retail titles.

I've tried adding the entire collection to IGN and 1up's user pages before, just to make it easier to keep track of everything, but between owning games that aren't in their databases or simply breaking the page by adding too many games, I've never been able to finish it.

EDIT: Found the version of the list I had typed up on PSOW four years ago: http://www.pso-world.com/forums/showpost.php?p=789066&postcount=24

Needless to say, it's a little out of date. I had updated it a year or two ago, but I don't recall where that's saved.

I'd probably get into collecting PS1 games, i've played many, some with confusing battle styles, right screwed up controls, and crazy stories. but for now i guess i mostly have a collection of memorable plays.

Gallarians, awkward fights, really really messed up controls, but very unique, and it even has its own movie.

Oh there are a handful of great games. You have the Halo's, Gears, Call of Dutys, and the other single games such as Bioshock and Mass effect. I could easily come up with 40 (probably even 50-60) games off the top of my head that are worth buying/having when they were first released.
I also used to get a bunch of games for my Bday's and Xmas so I'm not just throwing $60 lol. Although lately, I have been taking advantage of my 2 credit cards buying games :D

nah, I can't see spending the big cash on vintage when reissues are available (and are the same damn toy) brand new at a fraction of the price. some people are really into vintage, which is cool, but only if you got the cash to blow on it. I'm completely happy just having the toy, whether it's vintage or a reissue.

I do have some vintage from back when I was growing up, but alot of it didn't survive. the ones I like that are still in good shape I try to display. I took some recent pics last week, I'll try to upload sometime soon.

yeah, like anything, just depends on where/when you do your shopping.
like you said, the WM masterpieces are usually a steal at ~60 a pop compared to the ~120-150 jp releases. alternatively some jp reissues can be obtained cheaper then the NA releases because they've been out longer, and were produced in higher quantities.

just last year they were having some blowouts on jp reissues like omega supreme and skylynx...I got both brand new for under $100, at retail they should have ran me close to $250. so yeah, it does pay to wait around and do your shopping, but what your looking for may not always be around when them clearance prices hit.

Edit over the woman with a few floppy disks/game jewel cases.

Like Tomee, I guess its not really a collection, but they've collected up. Try to keep my disc games scratch free. Not too crazy per system. Closer to Outrider than say the XBOX lineup above.

Have quite a few DVD's, movies, now including probably about a dozen bought and unwatched at the least!

Got my Peter Pan on with the eBay, going overboard (2 N64s!! when couldn't find the family's shared one). But learning alot in the process, going through requisite highs and lows with sneakers/SNES games. Should really be starting to sell things back soon enough. I'm no "HypeDunk McScenekid" though. I did buy mostly what I liked, under retail deals and can tell you a bunch about these things, not just citing a kiddie "nickname" and or player associated with it. I've done my research and held onto things I knew from back in the day.

But a lot like cars, the value depreciates so fast. Only a few ever go up. Highly volatile too.

Not as streamlined to have eBay auction and price quoting sites yet like videogames have. Don't know if this scene ever will. *

Oh and too many Jerseys also boxed up. Good buys, bad buys.

Good: Oakland's Skyline High Gary Payton Black/Red size M $20 clearance
Kazuo Matsui Mets Black Orange Blue $20 Clearance
Earl Boykins Warriors M $12 @ Ross due to stain that came out fine
Bad: Karl Malone Laker's 2004 Home White Wingman size XL $70-75 retail MSRP
"Garbage Bag" joked Grey Alternate Replica Dirk Nowitzki $25 ish year before those P.Diddy Green ones got rid of the sweatsuit Grey Shimmers, Maybe a 20 pt bench mob Antawn Jamison would've been ok tho.

I could probably do with a 2nd home for my collection of books. On the plus side, I'm down to 3 guitars and 2 synthesisers again, those things take up far too much space

Far too many  Everything from Shakespeare to Murakami with a healthy dose of decent (and not so decent) science fiction. Fair amount of oversized and overpriced art books in there too. Heck, even a shelf or two of cookbooks. I like reading, what can I say XD
