So im new to both this site and Phantasy star. Ive always had a hidden interest in the game just never really taught about buying it. Well I looked up a couple of videos an I love already and PSZ strikes a good interest in me. So I downloaded PsP on my PSP [demon version] and I love that to. Now although I love psp What phantasy star game should I get first. Xbox360 games are out of the question, and would like it to be online [which shouldn't be to hard]. Oh and no I don't have a PS3^^ . Thanks in advance and im looking forward to being part of this fourm.

ok not really sure why this is put in this section but ill do my best to help you anyway if you liked the psp version and you dont have a 360 try the pc/ps2 version dont matter what one they both run on the same server there is currently no online phantasy star game for ps3 so no worries there this section is for psz for the ds if you have a ds maybe give that one a shot imo they are all good games

The original Phantasy Star Online is always a recommended title. Pity that you're so late on the bandwagon and the only real online option for US players these days is PSO: Blue Burst on a private server.
Phantasy Star Zero is definately a must if you enjoy playing on your DS. Plus it serves as a prequel to PSO.
I haven't had too much experience with Phantasy Star Universe so I can't really make a valid opinion on it.

Well considering what you said, I'd either stick with psp or, if you find you love the gurhal system a lot you can play psu on your pc, which shares its servers with the ps2 playerbase. Though don't let that fool you, 95% of psu players are on 360.....yeah I know that always irritated me so much (played on my pc). Alternatively psz on ds is also really good. Once you get some friend codes swapped with some folks around here, finding people to play with online is pretty easy. Free play isn't so bad either.

yes, I am sorry about putting it in this topic lol. Anyway yes I do have a Ds so Im probably gonna get psz. After I beat Psz I will hunt the others down one by one [though by that time I hope Psp2 comes out, I mean yeah japan has it but what about us lol]. I thank you for the help!

I recommend PSO 1&2 for the GameCube, if you've got that or a Wii (can play GC games).

since its a GC game it doesnt have online play right? It did, but Sega has shutdown all US servers for PSOGC.
If you have a game-quality computer, I would suggest giving PSO:Blue Burst a try, though you'll have to find the private server that hosts it.

Actually, it was one of the few games for the GC that used the model adapter. But as stated, they shut the servers down for it.

In the online mode of it, they had holiday events and limited time items... I never did get online with mine, but I still enjoy it.

Ah that is true, you really do never know whats gonna happen.Well I saw the sales in japan so there is a good chance it will happen. Wow, I never knew there was a model adapter for the GC. That really does suck that the severs were shut down though. Than again for the most part every good thing has to end. I feel like I missed a party....a very big party.

PS0 gives the most PSO like experience in combat you're going to get out of the current generation, though it would be lost on anyone with no PSO experience, pso:bb can be played on a private server like they say but there is not single player per se, you can set a game to being single player and have single player stats for the mobs but pso:bb is online only, you need a net connection to play at all times and characters are hosted on server, you can't take em and use em on another server.

PSU is a combat system I like more with more involved combat and fast pace but the online community kinda puts me to sleep as it was always kill the dragon runs, whether that be a red dragon, white dragon, multi headed dragon, amazing technicolor dragon etc.

PS:P and PS:P2 are both like PSU and I'll consider PS:P2 when it comes out but the lack of true online in PS:P I don't like, it's has local area ad hoc but not wifi network capability. PS0 on the other hand has local area and wifi.

Also I think of PS0 as a divergent story from PSO not a prequel, prequel implies that it took place before where as arguably PS0 would take place well after PSO, PSOs story and timeline begins after pioneer 1 gets to ragol then they launch pioneer2 from earth implying the great blank hasn't happened yet. pioneer 2 gets to ragol well within the lifetime of the people who first arrived there on pioneer1 meaning that at most we could say it took maybe 50 years to get there. when pioneer 2 left the great blank hadn't happened yet or wasn't completed yet so even if they left as earth was going to hell in a hand basket PS0 would still be at least 150 years after PSO.

My cubes still got its boardband adapter plugged in, from over 3-4 years ago =D..
All the memorys.. Anyway.. PSO1&2 is and was always was awesome, and i would recommend playing it if you can get the chance. I never got to lv200 *points to sig* but i still enjoy playing it now and again for a laugh (3 player offline ult seabed <3)
