What does the "Item Trade" Option do?

I've seen this many times, but have never been able to select it. would someone tell me how to use it please?

As the name suggests, you "trade items" with it. You and another friend have to be using it at the same time.

it allows you to trade with ppl online. you select it and a friend you intend to trade with selects it, then you select each other and conduct the trade

terms should be stated before you enter this tho because their is no way of communicating in this. also trading items can be seen prior to confirmation so false items are not traded

Also to point out you can do trade in wi-fi friends list and local connection(ie same room) you can't trade under freeplay mode.
