Really dumb story for me. This is also a nickname of mine IRL and everyone always asks how I got it.

If anyone remembers years ago on the N64, there was a wrestling game WCW Vs. NWO World Tour. Well, as much as we dislike it today, we were all big wrestling fans back then, and there was a goofy no-name wrestler named Powder Keg. He would always crack me up with his ridiculous moves and taunts....so a friend of mine was on the phone with another friend talking about the game and I kept yelling "Tell him about Powder Keg....tell him about Powder Keg!"

That person dropped his phone in a bowl of spaghetti and blames me for it ever since....and started calling me Powder Keg from that point forward.


If you actually read that--pretty stupid story, yeah? But the name stuck, and I like it.


Oddly enough, someone on PSU actually knew the reference/inquired if I knew or named myself after that particular wrestler. I was shocked to say the least that someone else could actually guess that.


My older name, Artea, was just the elf character from Lufia 1 and 2 who was my main PSU character on PC.

Anyway, I used to draw comic books.....it was about a robot named delete who fought evil things blah blah blah and so I started to use it more often. Mine comes from a combination of a friend's co-worker getting my name wrong and a jab at my jobless (at the time) self (the "ronin" bit in my username doesn't refer to samurai, rather it was intended as its usage in Japanese slang, or at least my understanding of said usage when I started going by this handle).

My name has a long story so I'll try to keep the wall small.

Back in the early 90s, I started to add Japanese styles to my varied musical and story composition. I wanted a very unique internet name that was easy to say by the Japanese. This was because my actual name is tough to pronounce from a Japanese speaker. I gave this a good test as I was trying to tell my name to Japanese speakers and they couldn't repeat it. I've had plenty of friends, from different parts of the east, who took on European names for the aspect of dealing with those of foreign tongue. I reciprocated such with myself.

However, before I started to make it one of my main internet nicknames, I used it in a fan fiction based on a very early Tenchi Muyo. A very simple name for the premise. I wanted to make a character of a race that was naturally some kind of plasma that could create forms and such, not unlike some cross between Terminator 2's T1000 and Odo from Star Trek, and perhaps a different derivative of an experiment Washu worked with, which helped create Ryouki. By making it a different specied, I could inject new properties to this one. I used this to add the possibility of emotional and mental issues into the character, which I borrowed from aspects of polymorphism in my own Intellectual Property that I started in 1990. (The Inarmado stories). Self-identity was the theme. I made the natural plasma red and thus the simple name of Red Water was given to him. Akaimizu.

I liked it because it also kind of was the *old* spelling of that kind of name. Almost like descriptive names in American Indian culture, of which I have ancestry. It could describe blood. "One that pumps life through a channel." (And forums or communication were considered channels, thus it was a good ice-breaker). It keeps me thinking that the prime directive of myself being a part of an internet community, is that I can support and help.

Anyway, being the first Akaimizu on the internet, really stuck with me. And thus worked into a company name for me doing various music that includes both Western and Eastern styles. (Even though I've incorporated Chinese for quite some time before). Bromery/Akaimizu Productions was born.

Well, mine doesn't have much of a background to it. I remember not being able to get whatever usual names I would've made as my account name back in the day, so I tried something new; orange is my favorite color... and I'm not entirely sure why I didn't pick another fruit aside from coconut. I guess I really enjoyed the taste of coconuts back then, or something... I haven't really had anything with coconut in it for a long time.
