I've seen a few IRC tricksters link newbs to that famous goatse website, claiming they'd find the answers to their questions there. Man oh man do I feel sorry for those newbs.
General IRC rule: Never ask for help.

I also thought it was funny when two people were conversing about "overclocking a CD burner"... It almost sounded legitimate for a while, until the guy explained how to do it, something like installing a new motor, drilling a hole into the center of the drive and injecting super glue, jeez. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif
I've also seen IRC experts repeatedly trick newbs into pressing Alt F4 (closes the active window = bye bye, newb!), and even tell a few to go to the command prompt and enter format c:. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

And I barely use IRC, too. Craaaaazy people out there.

Aside from etiquette, n00bs need to be able to spell correctly. I make sure I write in clear and understandable English; that's why I make sure I spell "fuck" the right way!

One time, someone came into #psow and asked if there were any cheats...

I told that person that to dupe his gear, he has to load his character, go online into a game, drop all his gear, and then kick his gamecube as hard as possible. o_O
