Definitely a Force. They were hard to start out with a fresh on PSO but I'm waging that won't likely be an issue this time round. Even if it is I know that several of my friends will be getting this and we'll no doubt band together once again. Heheh, so yeah Force for sure...which one is another question. I'm perplexed at the idea of Cast forces...not to sound like a puritan but that just sounds messed up. o__O So for me, either FOmarl or FOnewearl....but knowing me probably both. XD

Going Force. Fomar specifically because I loved the playstyle. Hopefully I'll be able to replicate that playstyle when I actually get to play the game.

Fonewmen ALLLL DAY!

Going Force, but giving the FOnewm a miss. I put so many hours into FOnewm back in PSO that it put me on a general Force sabbatical all through PSU/AOTI/PSP1, so far. PSZ finally got me playing Force again as a FOmar. I'm probably going to reprise my FOmar from PSZ. I'll also may continue my RAmarl, but may decide to go straight Mech (er. RAcast). That slip stuff is straight out of Gundam, and (salivate) Virtual On....and THAT'S how you get me playing a Male Cast.

Hunter for sure, leaning towards HUcaseal.

That poll seems to be very accurate in old PSO terms. Ranger least popular and that's why I love RAmar, you only need one or two for good support, makes me feel more special :-)

I'm gonna do force first. Question remains do I want to be FOmarl or FOnewearl.... Both look awesome.

It's probably just a costume.

Just pick the fonewearl.

If I can recreate the PS0/PSP2 Newman ears I probably will do FOnewearl lol. Especially since I'd like to do HUnewearl eventually too.

If Hunters are as fun as they seem and the class is any good I'll prolly kick off with a HUnewearl this time around. Otherwise perhaps a RAcaseal/cast. The pewpew in this game seem to be tons of fun.

At any rate, it'll be hard to not become an altoholic. All classes I've seen gameplay of seem really fun and I absolutely love the new character design. Feels a lot better than PSU, more like an updated PSO style.

That's true... even on Vanilla's multiplayer, I have YET to play with a Ranger.

Tempted with Ranger... A RAmar perhaps. I dunno why, but I feel like I wanna play this like something around the lines of ''Lost Planet 2 meets World of Warcraft'' haha.

I definitely want to make a Hunter, Hucaseal to be exact. But I also want to play a force. I have never played a force as my main but I'm considering it. If I play force it's going to be Fonewm all the way. I guess it would make sense to play Hunewm but I can't decide. Anyone have some advice or input on what to play. How will Hunewm match up to a hunter? And what about a force? I honestly can't decide, my choice will probably change a few times....

HUmarl or HUnewearl for me!
Hopefully they have twin daggers again; it's one of my favorite weapon types--especially if there ends up being a sub class that will up attack speed. XD

I think I'll start with a RAnewearl because I like rangers and pointy eared lolis.

as always, I go for hunter, I'm more of a close range specialist, I hope they get expert classes like fighgunner ect.

I also hope that for master class if they have any, they let you use more weapons rather than 4 types lol

Hunter for me (HUmar I love the neutral stat factor).

The naming system is extremely easy to learn.

Preffix:
HU=Hunter
RA=Ranger
FO=Force

Suffix:
mar=Male human
marl=Female human
newm=Male newman
newearl=Female newman
cast=Male cast
caseal=Female cast

So RA+cast= RAcast (Male Cast Ranger)

Yeah, PSO didn't have beasts so there's little reason to expect them in PSO2. Anyway, I think I'd like to try and find PSO2's Rupika and play as that. Yeah, I'm type-cast.

It might have to do with the fact that I've been pronouncing 'caseal' wrong for the past 10 years.

I loved the RAmarl on PSO, but re-created her as a RAcaseal on PSU/Z/P2. So I might make my female ranger character a RAcaseal again, seeing how their stats were good (always atleast with high hp/atp/ata) and new implements might come their way to (plus they can look hawt loljk).

Then its FOmar, HUcast, FOney... Will firstly recreate my beloved past characters like so many you guys are, before I try another class :>. Oh, does anyone know how many character slots we are getting? Or is it the usual 4? Ty.

Since class switching is possible here:

-HUmar with skills evocative of the Acrofighter class, melee FOmar alternate spec (I mained a male Human Acrofighter in PSU)
^ ...or would I switch him to a HUnewm?
-RAmarl (I mained a RAmarl in PSO)

Then it's 2 or 3 out of:

-HUcaseal/FOcaseal (Based on my old female CAST Fortefighter in PSU)
-FOcast
-RAnewm
-FOney/RAney, or some Ranger/Force hybrid class (Based on my old FOney in PSO)

There aren't sub-classes in PSO2. It's basically like having 3 classes in one character, but not at the same time.

Example: if you start out as a HUmar and level to 30. Let's say you then decide to switch to RAmar, you will start at level 1. It's like you created a new character, except with the same looks, items, etc.

If you switch back to HUmar, you will then be level 30 again.

I know that. Those were just their alternate classes if I decide to switch them.

I did some more searching and I'm not seeing anything that indicates that actual sub-classes will exist in the game. At least not the way I'm expecting them to be. Main Hunter/Sub Ranger... would be like a hunter with some ranger abilities.... kinda like how it played out in PSU.

It seems to me that the "Sub Classes" option is refering to the Skill Tree where you can further customize your 'Class'.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Vashyron
Aug 23, 2011, 01:32 PM
There was a Sub-Class choice in the Skill Trees... Pre-Alpha.

In Alpha now, screens show that option is gone from there.

It's not really that surprising. The ideal casual team in PSO was Hunter/Ranger/Force/Other(I personally preferred having a nuking Force, then another supportive Force).

Plus, all the classes are pretty cool and have their own quirks.

Strange. Why are you on the PSO2 forum if you aren't interested in PSO2? And how did you get enough information on the game to know that it won't be something you enjoy?

Anyway, staying on topic... I've never held a gun in my life, and I can't remember the last time I shot lightning at something. However, I've been studying martial arts for the last ten years. Doing so has given me a better appreciation of close quarters combat, and I enjoy seeing how each game handles it. Of course, it's normally not nearly as well done the other two options, as it turns out.
Magic gameplay leads to more strategic gameplay, casting the right spells at the right time, buffing your team to perform their best, etc. Gun combat tends to be the best way to use video games as a medium for simulated combat, as can been seen with most popular shooters. Close quarters, it's just not possible to simulate all the interactions going on with the body, but I can applaud at how close games get to it.

Great, I stayed on topic by getting off topic. Hunter, first. After I get my fill, or if I play with lower level friends, I'll switch to force and try some support (assuming switching is as easy as I think it is). And after I have everything leveled up, I'll see about capping ranger.
The question I haven't been able to answer is, will I be better off with a caseal, or a newearl...
