I have just recently learned a new fact about a an item in PSO. I am sure that everyone has Yamato well I found out who it is named after. Yamato is named after the Japanese General Yamato that thought to attack Pearl Harbor.

Then why are you posting in a topic about it? n_n

I'd think the Musashi was named after a famous swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi.

Agito: http://www.agitoinc.com/

The agito was definetly named after a guy that made a company called Agito.

Look at the logo. The a and the i are colored...do we have a mystery on our hands???

Because if we do, it was Col. Sanders in the bathroom with the toothpick!

EDIT: Look at his mouth! Oh...my...God! HE'S ALIVE!

I'm pretty sure the Asuka was a super-battleship in World War 2 on the Japanese side (like the Bismark with the Germans). Funny how the Musashi, Yamoto and Asuka were all Japanese battleships and are all the same type of weapon in PSO.

[ Edited to cleverly (but not completely) mask my own tiredness and jumpiness as I misred another post. Sorry, it's finals week. Please do forgive me. ]

However, I still maintain that:

Our country has a pretty long and interesting history with Japan. You should check it out. The way we opened up trade with Japan during their isolationist years is absolutely one of the funniest moments of the 1800's http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Not to be overly agressive here, but COME ON KIDS!. You all should be familiar with Yamamoto's name from American history. He was pratcially the mastermind for the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was also one of the only intelligent and dangerous generals that the Japanese had in WW2.

His name is very closely tied with the world of cryptography (code breaking) now, since it's pretty much universally known Yamamoto died when the Americans broke the Japanese ciphers and found out he'd be in a vulnerable spot on a lonely transport plane.

I mean, if you're in grade school you have every excuse not to know.. but anyone in Jr. High or higher has had an american history class going that far forward (in California anyways, and California's school system sucks so everyone should be at least there).

That's Yamamoto. The twin swords are Yamato.

Actually we didn't open trade with the Japanese. Commodore Perry barged into the ports of Japan with his fleet & forcefully entered. We opened up Japan by force much as we as a country were once to ourselves & the outside world dragged us in...now we can't seem to ever stay out. It's no accident that all those twin katana are named after ships. The Japanese (like many countries) have a long memory, steeped in traditions. It had to have been done on purpose in keeping with said traditions...

I think that's exactly why Kirin thought it was funny. Ironic ain't it? The Americans forced trade upon the Japanese, and now I believe the U.S. has a trade deficit with Japan...lol.

As for the naming of those twin swords, I know there was a Yamato and Musashi in Japan's WWII fleet, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if there was an Asuka as well. Miyamoto Musashi was also well known for wielding two swords in his Niten-ryu style of fighting.
