View Full Version : Nov. 18th Blog Update + α2 drawing pre-signups

The official blog (http://ameblo.jp/sega-psblog/entry-11081895016.html) has been updated again. This time is on the second of the three revolutionary bits that are going in to PSO2: Action. Possibly the greatest amount of action for an online rpg. PSO's 10 year old combat system and the left clicking of other ARPGs of the time just won't cut it in today's world so PSO2 will have action similar to a console action game while being an online RPG. Dodging and blocking have been things that the Phantasy Star series added to it's list of actions and PSO2 adds jumping and mid-air actions. The 3rd person shooting view point is also new to PSO2. The three classes also mean three different playstyles. Hunters up close, tanking it out. Rangers at mid-range and forces, with various attack and healing techs, at long.

Of course, this is prety much stuff we all know. This blog entry, like the last one, is fluff. It does mention something that I think we all know though: there will be more weapons than the few found in the alpha. Other news in today's blog is that anybody who wants to can now sign up for the PSO2 mailing list. You can sign up here if you don't have a SEGA ID (https://iway.isao.net/sega/mail_in.cgi?siteno=P1). Or you can sign up here if you already do. (https://cha.isao.net/profile_oem/OEMLogin.php?product_name=pso) Everyone who signs up for the mailing list will automatically be given a chance to participate in the second alpha test. It looks like there will be another drawing for participants so just signing up doesn't mean you will get to participate. You will get entered in to a drawing to pick new participants. (from the PSO2 twitter account (http://twitter.com/#!/sega_pso2/status/137485226434760704)) Previous testers are guaranteed a spot in the second test though.

There are also a few cleaner pictures of the weapon design pics that were posted earlier.

Otherwise I'm sure it's a new outfit either way... that I'll be wearing.

Totally, I always go for a red/black or black/red outfit on my characters in Phantasy Star games and I must say I am loving that one.

According to the PSO2 twitter account, everyone who signs up for the PSO2 mailing list is also automatically entered in to the selection for participants for the second alpha this coming January. So, uh, do it if you haven't already.

I think that may be refereing to weapon tiers. Saber -> Brand -> Buster, etc. That's the way it worked in the alpha at least.

Oh. Also, the link to sign up to the mailing list without a SEGA ID isn't working for me. Anyone else having this problem?

So I was able to sort of translate. no idea what it means though.

Contains the last name other than double-byte characters
Contains a non-byte characters in the name
State has not been entered in the address
Illegal address format (please enter full-width).

Arkios
Nov 18, 2011, 03:18 PM
Yep, I'm having the same problem.

I found an address in Fukui that I've been using, but I'm pretty sure I've got some missing information or have it in the wrong format. I'm also not sure what to put for the second section, I think it wants my name in "Katakana" so I'm not sure what to do for that.

Translating line-by-line was working OK, but I'm stumped on a couple sections. If someone gets some time to create a walkthrough for this, that would be awesome.

kyuuketsuki
Nov 18, 2011, 03:20 PM
Contains the last name other than double-byte characters
Means you're not using kana or are using the wrong kana font in the last name field.

Contains a non-byte characters in the name
Pretty sure this also means you're using the wrong characters in the name field.

State has not been entered in the address
Self-explanatory... you skipped the field for entering the State.

Illegal address format (please enter full-width).
The address you used is either formatted incorrectly, you used the wrong Japanese font, or you just entered a bad address in general. What I did for that part was search for examples of Japanese addresses and then copied and pasted them until I found one that it accepted.

I'm also not sure what to put for the second section, I think it wants my name in "Katakana" so I'm not sure what to do for that.
Either type your name out using a katakana approximation, or enter some BS. You could use Arkios in katakana, for example: アーキオス

ThePendragon
Nov 18, 2011, 03:24 PM
I've tried copying and pasting random Kana words, but nothing seems to work for the name.

As for the state, I'm not sure what that means. It only gives you one line for the address, but I have no idea if I'm doing it right. Does it have to be in japanese? That might be my issue. If not, the format and address is right, as far as I can tell. This is what I'm using:

Hakodate, Hakodate-shi, 1-18-15 Yunokawa-cho

EDIT: Ok, switched to this 茨城県つくば市学園南D25街区1 and got rid of the state complaint. Problem is, it still says illegal formatting. I have no idea how to reformat the moonspeak to suit their requirements.

Blueblur
Nov 18, 2011, 03:34 PM
I believe that's the same error I'm getting.

"State has not been entered in the address
Please, type in address format is invalid"

Magil
Nov 18, 2011, 03:47 PM

Blueblur
Nov 18, 2011, 03:48 PM
I think a couple of us are mostly having a hard time with the address part.

Edit: Got it to work. The site wants the address in Japanese and specifically wants the State (for example, Osaka), then the city (ex. Osaka City) and then the actual street address. I used the address of Osaka City University; I got the correct format by looking the university on Google Maps (with the address in another format).

大阪府大阪市住吉区杉本3丁目3-138

I really like the weapon concepts. They look really....functional, i guess? Just enough in each area. They look like the same weapon, but different enough to be interesting.

I like how the swords all get what looks like a small reactor upgrade of sorts to fit the larger photon blade. Im eager to see the purple/red/golden versions now.

RLbitClassica
Nov 18, 2011, 05:31 PM
As awesome as the swords look, I really think I'm going to have to go with the rangers this time around. The guns and gunblades look cool(not to mention as a PSZ player, I'm already familiar with gunblades in phantasy star) and tps aiming/ dodge rolling is cool. Now I just have to pick whether to be a human or a cast...

You'll have to type in the matching kana. You'll either have to install a Japanese keyboard and use it to type them in by referencing a katakana chart such as this one (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0d/Table_katakana.svg/768px-Table_katakana.svg.png), or find one somewhere that has it in text so you can copy and paste the kana.

Is that what I needed to do? Or do I still need to register at that link above? Because I can't reproduce that captcha.
How'd you get successfully registered without getting past the captcha? o_0 Being able to read kana and having a Japanese keyboard installed was able to get me past the captcha. You should've also gotten an email to whatever email you used to register from SEGA, that says something identical to this:

You may be right. There is a bar on top of the Attack + PA HUD which increases as you land hits. It starts at 0 and ends at 3. This feature may have not been implemented in the Alpha. It is exclusive to hunter weapons. Further note, the Gunslash does not have this bar.

However in these pictures, the actual models are slightly different from each other. I'm not too sure if these weapons magically grow parts after using them...

Pretty sure that's not what that meter means.

If I recall correctly, you can set three different PAs to a weapon, and which one is used depends on where you are in your combo when you use it, and you can use PAs in sequence, causing the game to cycle through those.

More than likely, that bar is completely irrelevant to the "levels" stated in the picture. It looks to me like it's just referring to higher-level versions of basic weapons, as in the aforementioned Saber -> Brand -> Buster progression of PSO.

Woo! I had the most trouble with switching my browser(never had to do that before!) but I'm familiar with the JP compatibility and typing in Windows from my old Uni homework. So very awesome.

It was all worth it to see this:

I think I'm all signed up for the newsletter and all that. I'm super rusty though, and need to learn more Kanji at any rate so thanks for the help in the topic!

Hope I get in, but que sera sera. :)

Anon Fire when you log in there should be a list with info. Above your E-mail you should have info for things you have sign up'd for. There will be two lines in that category one is your Sega ID and the bottom one should be the sign service for the PSO2 newsletter should look like this ファンタシースターオンライン2 メールマガジン 配信中. Now if it's not there go to the link on the right side which has a little arrow next to it, and it's the third option on that list. I hope that helps.:):rappy:

The tick next to the Sega ID Info box is set to not sending you any emails which may be why you didn't get anything.

Took forever to stumble through. For some reason, it wouldn't accept my name in alphanumeric, despite asking for katakana immediately after it

i managed to create my Sega ID, but i need to fill a form with Login, Password and Captcha to login in the system. But the captcha asks for Japanese characters.

Someone know one way to skip the Japanese captcha?

Thanks!

I don't know of any way to skip it.

If you can't install a Japanese keyboard, you could try copy and pasting the matching characters from the chart on the Wikipedia katakana page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katakana).

I've always found this to be the easiest route for me at least.
