View Full Version : GC: Finding Rares by Section ID is ridiculous

Anyone know of a way to stop getting the same 1 or 2 rare items continuously? I currently have 12 Storm Wand Indra, 6 Ice Staff Dagon, and 6 Stag Cutlery. I would love to find some new rares. Fortunately there is some want for the stag cutlery online, but the others I can't even give away. I was hoping that someone might know a way to get out of the cycle. I have noticed that when I play multiplayer offline with some friends who are different section ids that afterward for a couple hrs/days I find different rare items than I normally do, and then it is back to the same old cycle. Does anyone else experience this?

I want a stag cutlery. lol

I found so many ****** Bloody Arts....its like a monomate, but oh well.

Just keep going you will find what you want. Also if you dont want the common rares try to fight monsters that dont drop them.

You gotta do the pipe trick to get rare monsters to pop out the stuff that is VERY rare to your ID.

-Play a lot
-Level Up
-Keep playing the same area
-Rack up hours
-Take side routes (sometimes helps)
-Be friggin' patient and don't complain

For an answer as to why you find different rares with your friends online; if they create the game, their section ID is used to determine special item and rare drops.

I have about 11 or 12 Slicer of Assassins and I'm thinking of selling them. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

The section ID used to calculate rares is, I'm fairly sure, based on whomever STARTS the game. So you'll keep getting the same ones if you start the game, but you'll get different ones if you join a game someone else started.

I had 10 Slicer Of Assassins saved up and decided to go online and get rid of them. No surprise....nobody wanted them. Now I'm able to tell if its a slicer by the ATP requirements...

This section ID thing is my main gripe with the game. This means that you have to make multiple characters to get the items you want. What makes it worse is that each monster now only drops ONE rare. Not a number of them, but ONE. That means section ID means a lot more than it did. And sadly enough some of the rare monsters (on top of being hard to find) drop crap. Why would an Al Rappy on VHard drop a damned Diska Of Liberator? What is the point of that? So it kinda of ruins the whole point of looking for rare enemies. I hope in the next installment they fix this, because it's just a tad silly.

Even after playing PSO with my friends, and having one of them with a different section id start the game, when I go home and load the game up on my gamecube and play single player, I find different rares for a while, then it stops and I start finding the normal ones I always get... I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that.

1st find out what drop you want.
2nd find out where it is and what drops it.
3rd play play play play play
4th dont get discouraged play play and keep playing.
5th you will get what you want I promise

on the multimode thing I was looking for a electro frame from the gilchic in the spaceship I played it for two weeks straight and nothing. i went to my buddies house made a multimode game with me as the first player so the section was REDRIA and in the first room of the spaceship the dam gilchic dropped my belove electro frame

Nibbie speaks the truth...

I actually like this feature of the game, at least I know who to go see with what character to get what item.
For instance my pinkal Fonewm has got 3 god/minds, from 3 vhard Nar lilies.
I'm raisin a Redria Fonewm to get to ultimate to score god/battles from Hildets, etc..
Doing repeated runs in one area with the same character can get tiring after collecting 20 or so slicers of assasins or crush bullets, or whatever it may be, but at least you know where to get the items you need...

Useless rares are just there to annoy people with :

Just enter a n00b game and drop all you Slicer Of Assassins or Diska's in the shopping or bank area and get the hell out of there.

I've had this argument with my friends. I think that the Section ID and the current rares mechanism is one of the few parts of PSO that isn't outdated or broken. The idea of the Section ID's was to allow rares to drop with enough frequency not to discourage people, but not give away too many rare items.

Moreover, the section ID system creates people who need certain rares, who have a very low chance of finding them on their own. This means you need to trade or play online (since you find a mix of the player's section ID's items in online games) to get everything you'd want. PSO's online aspect is a Good Thing(tm).

In this way, the Redria ID trades their multitude of slicers to someone else (like a Skyly) to get other items, while the viridia rangers exchange rifles for mechguns with the purplenum folks. A nice little economy forms thats superior to the system Diablo II has for trading.

The biggest problem with this is, of course, dupers, who devalue items. Suddenly dupers just throw around items and the only items that become expensive are the obscure, or hard-to-get ones.

Even in offline mode, the section ID system is good. It encourages you and your friends to play varied character types in multi-mode to get good items.

Sounds like a good deal to me...

Celes152

Without dupes, it'd be near perfect. No one section ID finds all the good items for a class, so you'd have to trade some of the stuff you find for other classes with your ID, for some they find for your class with their ID.

EDarkness

Well, I understand the need to get online to trade and such. The thing is with the current system enemies only drop ONE rare item and that item for some section IDs is crappy. Rare monsters dropping low end rares? Nah, I don't buy it.

The other thing to this is that the item distribution is rather lopsided. ALL section IDs should be able to find some nice rare armor. As it stands now, that's not the case. Which means that if you don't have a means to get online, and can't find anything good to trade, then you're SOL. Unless you happen to get an ID that drops decent armor, and even then you still have to have some enemy drop it. The whole thing is silly.

If they made it so that any section ID could find anything in the game, but each section ID finds some things easier, that would be fine. At least you wouldn't have to have multiple characters at over level 100 a piece in order to find something you wanted. Not to mention the fact you wouldn't have the problem we have now with so many of one type of weapon being found all the time.

Example:

I have a RAmar who's section ID is Oran. Just a lot of the enemies he fights drops a Bloody Art. Now, this means that most of the time he's gonna find a Bloody Art. And he does. It's a rather worthless weapon. But the thing is, why not have those enemies drop something else besides a Bloody Art?

Look at this...

In VHard Caves these enemies drop a Bloody Art:

Migium
Evil Shark
Hidoom
Pal Shark

That's four out of the nine regular enemies. Which means that most of the time you'll find a Bloody Art. The thing is the item distribution isn't good. They could have easily found other things to fill in the gaps, and in some ways I see it as kind of laziness on their part.

Anyway, I hope I got my point across. I see where they're they're trying to go with this section ID thing, but the one rare per enemy and the distribution of the rares they drop leaves something to be desired.

When leader of a team leaves the game, the game switches the ID to the second person, it seems.

I do see what you mean but the game was meant for online play...so you find those because if there wasnt any duping they would be worth something like it...but seeing how duping killed the hole thing those are now worthless pieces of shit...

This game was made to be played online. The section ID's we're used to induce trading for weapons. If someone has already said this ignore this post.

Heh, I guess I'm lucky. The rare I find the most of isn't a Gae Bolg, it isn't an Alive Aqhu, no, the rare I find the most of are Demolition Comets. How's that for lucky. Of course, I've only piped for one, ever. Anyway, I like the Section ID system, and I think there should be only one small improvement: STOP GIVING PEOPLE THE SAME RARE FROM EVERY FREAKIN' ENEMY THERE IS!!! I get Gae Bolgs from practically everything, and my friend gets Final Impacts. Surely Sonic Team can think of something better than "Fill all left-over rare slots with Gae Bolgs", because that seems like it's exactly what they did. Otherwise, the Section ID system is perfect, and I couldn't like it more.

11-12 of ONE RARE? I'd pay 100 bucks just to find more than one rare weapon each MONTH. I've only found ONE rare weapon in the month I've had my HL (free trial expires Sunday) and that's a Varista. I'm a lvl.49 RAcast on Hmines. I should have been finding tons of stuff (20 confirms of a Tails in H De Rol Le, nothing) and a few runs through H mines online, with what? Nothing but s*!t. This sucks.

I hate Purplenum. I hate this stupid thing. I seem to have to beg and bargin and get stuff from the unknowing to get what I want. I'm down to scamming people and using my lower level charas for PITY.

I've only seen TWO Rare monsters and have gotten THREE LEGIT rare items...And I've been playing at least 80 hours.

Need a list? Here you go.

I've seen a Nar Lilly and a Hildeblue online, and have gotten two Boomba's Right Arms and a Varista. THAT IS IT. I am formally requesting to change my section Id. This section sucks.

Some people are just too impatient. It takes a lot of time and effort to find items in this game. If you don't have that kind of patience, then maybe you shouldn't be playing PSO. It's not like every other item is going to be something good. I've personally found a fair amount of good stuff, and I owe it all to patience and determination. Don't just sit there griping about not finding anything, that's only going to waste more time you could be using to find stuff. Every ID has its good and bad drops. And unless you spend at least a few hundred hours putting the effort into actually seeing what a single ID will do, you're probably missing out on some good stuff.

Oh, and I haven't seen 159 rare enemies to date because I sat on my butt and whined about not finding any. I got out there and worked my ass off.

Not to sound like a fortune cookie, but: Patience is a virtue.

well after 58 hours ive got 1 rare enimy under my little belt, nar lilly

and a crap load of club of laconium, 1 branch of Paku Paku, lots of wand of indi etc... a booma claw, 2 hildabear heads, 2 proto regen gear (yuck), and one, ONE varista( which i have abused ever since getting)

i did 2 runs through V. hard ruins and got a photon drop.... ONE photon drop which i cant do a darn thing with cause i dont have a dial up adapter. so how often are rares suposed to drop? cause that took about 2 hours for both the runs, and i was rather dissapointed.

dunno why you guys are having problem with rares. I found Vjaya and Gae Bolg plus Club of Laconoium way too often to the points that they annoy me. Overall finding rares are not that difficult, to get a nicer rare items are a bit hard. Play offline and go through both episode 1 and 2, you will get different rares exclusive to your character IDs.

Awww,Cmon people,Don't be whiners ._o

What I wanna know is why do people who have an actual greiveance have to be whiners? They don't agree with the system, they automatically get tagged as dissenters and such. No one said they didn't like the game, just that this particular part of the game is flawed.

I have put in 650 hours into the game between my three characters. Played each section multiple times on various difficulties. The only weapon or item I have found of note was a Sigh Of A God off of a Love Rappy in Ult. Temple. I have seen multiple rare enemies, yet, I am still plagued with the lack of finding anything substantial or any real armor. Most of the armor was given to me by a friend of mine. My problem with the game is that you cannot be self sufficient and the item distribution per section ID is not good. Does that mean I will not play the game again? No. I will continue to play as long as I can get some enjoyment out of it. I do wish that in the in the next installment of PSO they fix some of these issues.

I don't think that's too much to ask for.

It's just something about it being "rare". No matter how bad it is I can't just drop it and walk away. Take for instance my Final Impact collection. So far I've totaled around 40 something of these little pea shooters if you include all the ones that I gave away to friends and stuff. Right now I have 21 in my bank that have nobody to go to and are most likely going to just sit there for the rest of the time I play this game. Maybe its the red box. Maybe the big capital letters and the text that would be yellow if it didnt have an X next to it. I just can't explain it but somehow those little things have a value to me.

I HAVE A SOLUTION!!! Anyone who has any rares they dont want, give em to me. Seriously, hear me out. I dont get much time to play but I have alot of chars to raise on various IDs. If you dont want certain items, give em to me & I will distribute them among my chars. Also, if I in turn can help you (raise mags, etc), let me know. I will take any rares you have & from what Ive read here, I dont have alot of those. Think about it & feel free to private msg me if you wish. Perhaps we can work out some kind of arrangement. Let me know...
